There he goes again...Off with his friends, I wonder if he even knows I exist...Mandy thought to herself, sitting on a low wall.

''Just go speak to him Mandy, what is there to loose?'' Mandy's best friend, Sam asked her.

''I don't know, Sam. It's just hard...You know?'' Mandy asked her.

The truth was, Sam did know. Sam was an Arctic fox, and Arctic Foxes do everything independently and straight forward, with no fear what so ever...Well most of them, except Sam. Sam had no confidence, since she found both her parents bleeding to death on the floor, crying for help, Sam could hardly walk at this time, let alone help them up. Sam had thin brown fur in the summer and other hot seasons, but in winter and other cold seasons she had big fluffy smooth snow white fur. Both suited well with her sparkling brown eyes.

Mandy on the other hand was a raccoon. She had big hazel eyes, and short greyish black fur. She was different from all the other raccoons because she didn't have any family either, along with everyone else in that Orphanage she was in. She was a very caring raccoon and she didn't know her parents when they had died, which made it a little easier for her, her mother had died giving birth to her and her father was killed by a predator, who she didn't know. Didn't want to know. It was then when she met Sam.

Sam came into the Orphanage and was scared, confused, alone. She didn't talk to anyone, she would eat her dinner up in her room alone. Mandy and Sam shared a room. Mandy had heard Sam crying herself to sleep every night. It couldn't of been easy. Eyes only just opening and the first few things you see is your parents on the floor, bleeding to death.

But now, about 15 years on. Mandy and Sam are the best of friends. Laughing and joking, hardly ever bringing up life before the Orphanage, it was all they knew, all they were taught.

''Yeah...I know, but...Sly isn't all that bad, go say hi. So he knows you exist.'' Sam laughed.

Mandy sighed.

Glad your finding this amusing. Sam. Mandy thought.

But after a while, Mandy got fed up of Sam's consistent pestering and walked slowly and nervously up to the one boy Mandy felt strongly about.

''Hi.'' She said, plainly.

Not wanting to make a big scene or anything, but his two best friends, Murray and Bently were almost glaring at her, they must have been working on one of there 'plans.'

''Hey Sly!'' Sam said, saving the day as she rushed in.

Sam and Sly were good friends, not so close she hung around with them, but close enough to be able to strike up a conversation with him about almost anything. Sam was like Sly's only friend that was a girl, the only friend he could talk to about...Well...Anything without getting laughed at.

''Hey Sam.'' Bently said, butting in.

''Hi Sam!'' Murray repeated.

''Look who the Orphanage dragged over.'' Sly said in his voice that made Mandy melt.

''Yeah, look. It's ugly isn't it, it has a big bushy tail and it's grey!'' Sam laughed, obviously meaning Sly. ''Anyway, enough small talk. This is Mandy, my best friend, she has this theory that you guys are pretty cool, she'd like to get to know you guys.''

''Hi...'' Mandy said again, in a little voice.

''Hey Mandy.'' Sly grinned.

''Ill leave you guys to it, catch you cool cats later.'' She winked, then walked off her tale swishing from side to side.

''Why don't you stick around? I'm sure Mandy is going to be shy..'' Bently suggested even though she was already at the other side of the room.

No one knew it. except Sly. But Bently had a thing for Sam.

Then that was it, after that, Mandy and Sly just clicked. 4 months later and they were still laughing and joking about, sometimes Sam would be there, other times she'd be talking to someone else.

No one really disliked anyone in the Orphanage, but everyone seemed to favour Sam. She just had that bubbly, laid back personality that everyone adored.

Sam's pov

I packed the last of my stuff. I had waited so long for this. This day where I could finally move out.

It had been 2 years since Mandy and Sly had been friends, they were getting a long great as well, but Sly left a year ago, as me and Mandy were only 15 at the time we couldn't go with them, Sly was 16 when he had left. But me and Mandy hoped they were doing OK.

Now it was our turn to leave the Orphanage behind, start a new. The Orphanage had got us a lovely place in Paris.

Both me and Mandy finally got there and set ourselves up,

''This is going to be the best years of our lives ever! I just know it!'' I smiled plonking my bags down along side Mandy's as I sat on the light green sofa.

And It was.

5 years later

Mandy's pov

I woke up to find Sam not in. She obviously hadn't been home that night. She was usually staying out late, but she always came home. Always. Maybe something was up.

Thoughts buzzed through my mind, fear and worry mixed.

I got out of bed and got ready like I usually did. I brushed my last bit of fur and headed out to look for her. As I was walking, head down I crashed to the floor with a thud.

''Oh. I am sorry. Id apologize more but-''

''FREEZER COOPER!'' Came a shout from behind the man who had just knocked me over.

I turned to see a fox standing there, glaring at the man.

Cooper? Where have I heard that name before? I thought racking my brains out.

''Sorry. Carmelita. You know how much id love to stick around but...Iv got a ring to look at.'' The man grinned, as he started to run I remembered who he was.

''Sly Cooper?'' I asked.

He turned on his toes and took a quick glance at me, the fox known as 'Carmelita.' now had her gun pointed at him.

''Mandy Wright?'' Sly grinned.

I nodded.

''Id love to let this lovers reunion to take place, but I'm afraid Cooper has to go to jail! That ring is Interpol property! Hand it over!'' She said, raising her gun even more, then she pulled the trigger and Sly jumped out of the way.

Then I realised that wasn't any ordinary gun. It was a shock pistol.

Seeing Sly's face almost made me laugh. Carmelita shot at him again and again, he jumped out of the way each time, his eyes still locked on mine.

Still after all these years I felt strongly about him.

''Sorry Mandy. Iv got to run. Give Sam my love!'' Sly smiled.

''No! Wait please!'' I begged, I needed to catch up.

''COOPER! Hand yourself over!'' Carmelita shouted, her voice booming through the big town.

She shot the pistol again, but it caught Sly off guard and hit him. I growled and threw myself at her, knocking her to the ground. She pushed me off.

''That is police officer assult! I'm taking to ring tales back tonight!'' She said, pointing her pistol at me now.

Sly ran over and grabbed my wrist and started to run, I soon started running along side him, my wrist still tightly in his palm. My heart thudded as we ran, the shouts of Carmelita echoed through out the night.

''Now why go and do something stupid like that?'' Sly asked with a chuckle, panting from all the running.

''Sorry...I just...You could of ran and left me...I don't feel right running from the law.'' I said, changing the subject slightly.

''No, no, no...That's not what your meant to do...Come on, faster she's catching up. Your meant to annoy her then run...It's OK though, you wont be wanted for long...A couple of years if your lucky.'' He said as a shock bullet flew past us.

All of a sudden the town was silent again, there was no shock pistol firing or no shouting and footsteps behind us, Sly still held my wrist in his hand as he jumped up a big building and landed outside a room.

He opened the door and quickly ran in, dragging me behind me.

''Bently, Murray...Look who I found wandering the streets.'' Sly said, as he walked in.

Bently? Murray? I thought, a smile spreading across my face. Iv missed these guys and there silly little plans so much!

''Ahh...Nice to see you again...Who are you?'' Bently asked, wheeling closer to me.

''Mandy. From the Orphanage.'' Sly explained, motioning for me to sit down.

''Ahh! I remember!'' Bently smiled.

''What happened? You in a wheel chair.'' I said, just realising.

''Ah? Oh it's a long boring story...Don't worry, there was an accident in one of our plans, no ones fault. Just bad luck.'' He explained. ''So how is Sam?''

''Oh..She was fine, when I last saw her...'' I said, trailing off, remembering Sam.

''When you last saw her?'' Bently asked, peering over his thick glasses.

''She didn't come home last night...She always comes home...But she didn't last night.'' I said, my voice shaking a bit.

''Oh no...Any idea where she might be?'' Sly asked, sitting up.

''Urm...No...Not really, she was going with Danny somewhere...A club I think...'' I said, slowing my voice down.

''Danny?'' Bently asked.

''Danny her...Boyfriend...'' I said, lowering my voice now.

''She got a boyfriend?'' Bently asked, shocked. ''She didn't strike me as the girl who got boyfriends...''

''She changed a lot over the years, Paris changed her I think..'' I explained.

''How long have you been in Paris?'' Murray asked.

''Since we left the Orphanage...'' I replied.

''Oh, haven't seen you around.'' Sly said raising an eyebrow.

''I don't go out much...'' I mumbled, I then stood. ''I need to find Sam.''

''We'll help.'' Sly said, standing up.

''But Sly we have operation-''

''This is an old friend were talking about here, an old friend a certain turtle used to have a major crush on...'' Sly smiled.

Bently went bright red and ducked under his computer.

''OK...Let's do it. Penelope and the Guru can help too.'' Bently explained.

I smiled.

''She may not be in any trouble but its always good to check with Sam.'' I laughed nervously.

We then set up and left. It was great driving in the van with Bently, Sly and Murray, it seemed like old times again, when I would ruin all there plans and laugh at there code names.

''Wait! Stop! That's her headband!'' I screeched.

Murray pushed down hard on the brakes as I opened the door and jumped out, it was as well. Sam's headband. That couldn't be good, she never dropped that, if she did, she picked it up.

''Oh...That can't be good.'' Penelope said, stating the obvious.

''Oh? Really? No..I thought it was brilliant!'' I replied, sarcastically.

Wow, snappy or what? I thought.

That's when I saw him, Danny. I ran up to him and tapped him on the shoulder, he jumped back a bit.

''What?!'' He snapped.

''Where's Sam?'' I asked.

''What? Is this her search party? If you find her. Tell her we need to speak...I need to speak about us...I think I'm going to break up with her.'' He stated.

I sighed and walked back to the guys. And shook my head.

''Doesn't know anything...'' I mumbled.

Sly sighed and we all got back into the van, when I heard Sam's laughter.

''That's her!'' I exclaimed, pointing.

We jumped out yet again to see Sam hiding behind a rock, with another Arctic fox.

''Sam...'' I said, in a stern voice.

She jumped. Then laughed more.

''This is Dougie...Danny was getting boring so well...'' She trailed off.

''I get it. He wants to talk, by the way. Danny. Something about breaking up with you..'' I said.

''Meh...He can wait.'' Sam smiled.

She then stood up and circled Sly, Bently and Murray, like she knew them. She did. But her memory isn't as good as it used to be.

''Sly...Bently...Murray?'' She asked, pulling at Sly's tale.

''OUCH! That's attached!'' Sly yelped.

''Sorry..I just can't believe it's really you guys!'' She beamed, then she glanced over to me.

''Ahh. Still in love with Sly after all these years?'' Sam laughed.

I felt myself go red in the face with anger and embarrassment.

''She's only kidding..I mean your great, and...but I just...SAM!'' I screamed.

This made her laugh harder.

She stood up off Dougies lap and stood inbetween me and Sly, she then put one arm around Sly's neck and one arm around mine, then she pulled me and Sly together and we kissed.

She smiled and launched herself at Dougie again.

Then a blue light flew past us again as me and Sly pulled away, he winked.

''We know who that is..'' Bently mumbled.

We then grabbed Sam and Dougie and started running away again.

And Sam was right, they were the best years of our lives ever.
