Brooklyn had a hard time prying herself from the small bed she made herself on the floor of one of the guest rooms. It was horribly uncomfortable, but it was warm and she was still beyond tired. She eventually got up after she managed to push Matt from sitting on top of her; screaming Wake Up by Hilary Duff, and not knowing half of the words.
She couldn't remember what she did with her jeans after she changed into the sweatpants Emily had given her to sleep in, after one quick glance around the room and not seeing them, she easily gave up.
She sighed as she walked into the kitchen with Matt at her side, making sure she couldn't make it back the hall to go back to sleep.
"Good morning!" Pat screamed once he seen her.
She stared at him for a moment, before sitting down at the kitchen table and laying her head down on it.
She listened to everyone talk for a while, before everyone moved in to the basement to wake up the few parties sleeping still in there.
Brooklyn stood with her arms crossed as Pat made it a point to mess with everyone currently trying to sleep.
Craig was the current victim as he was curled up on the recliner in a dead sleep. Pat crawled onto the side of the chair and lay beside him; he began petting his hair. Craig's eyes cracked open slightly.
"Good morning, baby." Pat held back his giggle to speak.
Craig stared at him for a moment then covered his head up with the blanket and rolled onto his side the best he could to get away from Pat; then sighed heavily.
"I hate you so much." Craig mumbled as Matt ripped the blanket from his head.
Craig hesitantly got up. Mostly everyone started back upstairs.
Brooklyn stood at the end of the line of people waiting to go back up.
The feeling of someone pulling on her arm stopped her from going up the steps.
"What time is it?" Jason asked rubbing his face.
"Ten thirty-seven." She looked up at the clock on the wall before sitting on the coffee table in front of the couch.
"I'm still tired." He shook his head closing his eyes again for a moment.
Brooklyn just stared at him, not able to help from smiling at his face.
He opened his eyes again and looked at her, smiling. He lifted his blanket to motion for her to crawl in beside him.
She didn't hesitate to obey.
Jason held on to her with one arm to keep her from falling off the side.
"Lets sleep till five." He suggested, as she got comfortable. She was happy he was like a heat source when he was sleeping, because she found herself freezing ever since she got up.
"I'm okay with that." She closed her eyes as he pulled her closer, making her head fall against his chest. It didn't take long for either of them to fall back asleep.
When Brooklyn woke up Jason was gone, she frowned when she realized she was now alone in the basement. The light creeping into the windows made it slightly eerie. She uncovered herself and stood up stretching.
She didn't notice Jason watching her, as he was ready to come out of the bathroom and lay back down with her. She walked up the steps to see what was going on.
The second party night was in full swing, not that it had died down too much from the night before. Brooklyn listened Pat and Tim intently discuss jumping off the roof into the pool at the Goodard house as she sat in the living room on the floor. She wasn't much into drinking that night, so she sipped the beer that Matt demanded she drink in her hand, and also the bottle of water she hid under the couch when he tried to take it from her.
"Hey sass-bag!" Jason threw himself beside her, making sure he slammed into her enough to make her hit the back of the couch. "What are you doing down here all alone?" He asked elbowing her lightly.
"Listening to Pat and Tim talk about killing themselves." She answered.
"I swear on my life! It's safe, as long as you land in the deep end." Pat tried to convince Emily to let them do it as the couch shook as he thrashed his arms around during his explanation.
"It sounds like fun." Jason decided, cracking open a beer.
"Only not really." Brooklyn shook her head. "How many is that for you there, Hale?" She asked as he played with the top of it, trying to pull of the tiny piece of metal used to open it.
"One, Ashby, but thanks for your concern." He took a big gulp of it.
"How much liquor have you consumed tonight then?" She asked rolling her eyes.
"None, but the night is still young, I still have time." He informed her.
"Jeeze, lightweight;" She slapped his leg, "you're laggin'."
"I'm laggin'?" He asked picking up her can to test the weight of it.
She chuckled taking the can back.
"Besides, I had to fill up my stomach before I started again." He patted it.
Jason laid his head in Brooklyn's lap and stared at the ceiling. "Lets chat." He suggested.
"About what?" She asked.
"Anything Florida." He threw something out.
"Okay, I hate it." She shrugged, twirling one of the nappy orange dreadlocks in her fingers.
"Why?" He asked.
"It's hot there all the time, and we always have hurricane warnings, it never snows, I can't wear sweaters. I have to wear SPF 500 so I don't burn. They don't sell Hershey's chocolate there, their iced tea sucks, iHop has some alright pancakes, but it doesn't match up to Denny's." She went on.
"Do they really make SPF 500?" Jason asked.
"No, but they should start." She decided.
Jason laughed. "Maybe you should just move to Michigan, then. We have Denny's freezing winters, lots of chocolate of all varieties, we never have hurricanes, and the iced tea is amazing." He suggested.
"I'm thinking about it." She sighed as he sat up.
"Do you know how great that would be?" He asked.
"No, how great would it be?" She waited for an answer, trying not to giggle at his excited face.
"That would be just wonderful, I think I would be so excited I'd lose all my sass and possibly piss my pants upon your arrival with your dumb cat." He nodded.
"Lets not get too out of control. You might pee, but I don't know if you'll lose your sass." She giggled.
"You're right, that was a little crazy. What was I thinking." He slapped his forehead then shook his head.
Brooklyn just chuckled.
Jason stared at her smiling seemingly interested in whatever she was going to do next.
"What?" She asked. He didn't say anything he just smirked. "Loser." She mumbled.
"Bitch." He mumbled back.
"I hate you." She began standing up to shun him.
"I know." He pulled her back down and connected their lips. Brooklyn was slightly shocked, but instinctively pulled him closer. He stopped, seemingly satisfied, and stood with his beer.
"I forgot, I told Derrick I'd check out his place on Halo and help him." He smirked.
Brooklyn stared at him unable to comprehend that he just stopped and was going to walk away like that.
"I'm sorry." He smirked shrugging.
Brooklyn stared at him as he walked back the hall and Jen took his place beside her ready for a chat.
Please act surprised!
