I heard a loud banging on the door. I rolled onto my side and glared up at the clock. Shit! It was 6:15 p.m. I threw my legs off over the side of the bed and half ran to the door. I looked out as my eyes met the solid black eyes of the girl Ryans father called Alex. She smiled up at me so brightly that I had to smile back. Hey! You know youve been sleeping for an awful long time. You missed breakfast, but I guess no one can blame you for that. My brothers such a pain to have around sometimes. She grinned. This time they sent me to get you for dinner. My names Alex by the way. I smiled sweetly at her. I know...Im Destiny. Des for short. Her smile brightened. I know. She laughed. The sound of it made me smile so brightly that I thought my face might split in half. She didnt look very much like her brother, but I could definitely see the resemblance of her mother, Rebecca was it, in her. She had long dark-brown chest-length wavy hairjust like her mother. Ryan looked more like his dad, and from what I remember, the twins kind of shared qualities of both parents. SoI know you must be starvingright? She cocked her head to the side and raised her right eyebrow. I laughed. YesI amvery She smiled. Well, come on then. Theyre not going to wait forever. She lightly grasped my left hand and pulled my out of the door. I started to pull away. Butbutbut I just woke up. I probably look terrible. I ran the fingers of my right hand through my hair. She looked me up and down and giggled. Actually, you dont look like youve slept at all. I started to panic when she said this which only made her laugh. What I meant was, you look absolutely fine. Very beautiful. Which we dont see often with people like you. Now hurry. Lets go. I tried to pay attention to the surroundings around me, so that I would no longer get lost, but my mind kept drifting away. What did she mean people like you? Welcome Des. I was wondering if we would ever see you again. A voice boomed around the room and bounced its way inside my head. I was knocked out of my own head, and I looked up to see Chris standing before me smiling, but I could tell he looked worried. It felt kind of weird watching such a big man, like Chris, smile so carefree like that. Im sorry. I must have been more tired then I expected from the trip yesterday. I looked down guiltily that I had worried them...well at least MOST of them. Nonsense. I understand completely. Now why dont you sit with us. He motioned over to one of the empty seats directly beside Ryan. Oh brother. I hesitantly sat beside him. He smirked at me. I glared and then just ignored him. Chris and Alex sat down in their places. I watched at Chris nodded his head toward a door and servants stared filing out into the room with shiny silver trays of multiple sizes. I stared amazed as these trays were all set and fitted in the middle of the table. The lids were expertly pulled up over the food and I think I might have almost fainted if it wasnt for the rich smell surrounding us. I gawked like a complete idiot as the servants hastily walked back out of the room. I heard Ryan chuckle beside me, and I sat up straight again, still looking at all the colorful food. I shot up more, embarrassed, when everyone around me started laughing. I rubbed the back of my right hand over my mouth to make sure I wasnt drooling, and I cleared my throat. Do you guys always eat like this, or is it just because Im here? If it is, then you didnt have to do all this. Im not that special. They grew quiet. Then I heard Ryans mother, Rebecca, speak. Is it that different, to eat like this everyday? I wouldve never guessed. Are we offending you? I gasped. Nonot at all. Im just used to eating a can of soup for dinner and thinking that that was already thoughtless of me to eat so much. We dont really have much at home. I caught Ryans eyes show a hint of sympathy, but then it disappeared. He hid it away and instead laughed in my face. Is your family that poor? What does your father do for a living? Is he a school janitor? My eyes stung with tears as his words hit me hard. I stood up quickly as my face turned red with anger. You dont know shit about me. With that I ran. I ran out the front door. I ran across the large lawn. I kept running. I found my way into a small deserted park. It was dark know and the gray clouds filled the sky. I sat down on one of the nearest swings to me and cries as the rain lightly fell around me. In the darkness of a tree, not far from were I sat, I was being watched.
