Running
Running, something I do, a lot. My family moves all the time. So, I don’t have many friends, most of the time when I get a friend I move soon. I’m always lonely. My parents are really strict too. They discourage me having friends. They tell me friends don’t help. I’ve never seen any of my relatives either. It’s just my mom, my dad, and me. I used to like it. Now, its torture.
My troubles really started when I moved to Seacle. Seacle is a town by the beach.  I went to Seacle High; my first day there was pretty rocky. And by “rocky” I mean being ridiculed for being a new kid.
Today is my second day at Seacle High. I walked in casually hoping no one would notice me. “Hey! Newbie!” I looked behind me and saw a boy with shaggy brown hair and green eyes. I kept on walking ignoring the boy. “Wait up!” he called he finally caught up to me. “What was that for?” he asked panting I didn’t know what to say. He was probably here to make fun of me. “What was your name again?” the boy asked “Maddy.” I replied he stuck his hand out and said “I’m Rob.” I shook his hand.  He smiled and me and asked “Want to be friends?” “Sure!” I replied happily.
“Hey Rob!” I looked behind me and saw a girl. She had orange hair and brown eyes. She glared at me “What are you doing with her?” she said sneering “This is my new friend, Maddy.” He smiled pointing at me. “You’re friends with the newbie?!” she practically shouted “I’m right here you know” I said raising my hand slightly. “No one cares about you!” she screamed at me Rob put his arm around my shoulders and said “I care ‘bout Mad.
I walked home from school my mind swirling. “Does he really care about me?” “What will my parents think?” I shook my head. I decided not to tell them.
“How was your day Madeline?” my mom asked “It’s Maddy and good.” “Make any friends?” “No” “Good.” I looked at her confused. How is having no friends good? I went into my room and started my homework. When I was done I began reading a book I picked up at the library a few days ago. It was called “I Don’t Need Normal Friends”. It was about a girl who had ghosts for friends. I kept on reading until 9 o’clock. I then fell asleep.
I dreamed I was the girl in the book. No friends but three ghosts.
I walked into school and was greeted by Rob. “Maddy!” he shouted running toward me “Rob!” I shouted back running too. We crashed into each other and burst into hysterics. “How was your day Ms. Madeline.” He asked in an English accent as he got up. “Oh, it was good, darling.” I replied in the same accent. Our fun was interrupted by the girl who made fun of me in the hall. “Hey Becca.”  Rob said smiling Oh so her name was Becca! “You’re still here?” she asked glaring at me “Yes, I’m still here.” I replied “Be nice to her. I’m her only friend.” Rob said before I could say anything else Becca grabbed Rob’s hand and pulled him away. The rest of the day was being teased.
As I was walking home I something caught my eye. I looked down and say a necklace! It had a pearl pendant. I smiled and picked it up. Maybe if I gave this to Becca she wouldn’t hate me anymore!
When I got home, my mom was gone. She left a note:
                                 Dear Madeline,
I am going to the store.  I will be back in a bit.
                                   Start your homework!
                                                              Sincerely,
                                                             Mom
I obeyed my mom’s order and started my homework. It was pretty easy just some review.
A few hours later I was listening to some music. “I was searching for love in an empty world but all I found was hate” the song screamed at me. “Stop listening to that music!” I heard my dad shout at me. “I like it!” I shouted back and I turned up the volume.

I woke up at 10:00. No school today yay! I decided to go to the beach. Not to go in the water just to do some thinking. I walked to the beach with the book in my hands when I saw Becca! I ran toward her calling her name, “Becca! Becca!” I called “What do you want?” she asked snobbishly “I wanted to give you this.” I took the necklace from my pocket and showed her. “Pearls are so last year.” She walked away leaving me with my mouth agape
By the time I got to the beach it was midday. I sat on the hot sand and looked onto the ocean. They’re very few people because Seacle is a very remote town. Some kids were splashing on the waves, two surfers, and about ten people sunbathing. I sighed and before I could open my book I heard someone call my name. “Maddy!” I looked around for the voice and I saw one of the surfers running towards me. “Maddy!” the surfer called again I soon realized it was Rob! “Hi Rob!” I called enthusiastically “What are you doing here?” he asked “Well I live here now so I guess I should go to the beach.” I shrugged “Good point, hey ‘wanna try surfing?” he asked “Um I don’t really have a swimsuit.” I said disappointed.
