4: Shopping was fun; I got a new pair of jeans and a few shirts. Rosalie was veryhelpful. I guess I looked fairly decent on my way out. We took her Mercedes. The next few days were great, too. I met Carlisle and we clicked instantly. There was something about him that triggered a human memory in me. Hes incredible and he gave me a lot to think about. He believed that we still had a chance at heaven. I tried to tell myself not to believe it but couldnt stop hoping it was. Then, one day, Carlisle called a meeting and told us that we were moving back to Forks. The situation with Edward had been, well, solved. I turned to Rosalie and whispered, "See? Everything settled out." She nodded and smiled brightly. Her voice came out in a whisper as well, "Do you thinktheyll forgive me?" I nodded, once. "Id have to beat the balls off them if they didnt. "Rosalie and I met up in my room after we had packed. "Hey, I guess Im meeting Bella then." I said, absently. She sparked curiosity. Here was a mortal girl who was bent on risking her life to live among us. It was brave even if it was foolish. Rosalie nodded. We ended up taking a car again and we got to Forks within days. Rosalie kept telling me that we couldnt carry all our stuff if we decided to run the whole way. I miss running. We had little more than finished packing before we heard a knock at the door. I rushed over and opened it. It was Bella and Edward. Bella was a lovely girl (though probably not as beautiful as any of us) and her hair was almost the exact shade of mine. She blushed madly at my scrutiny. I held out my hand, "Hey there, you must be Bella. Im Kat."

She stared before shaking it nervously. The other, Edward, was assuredly one of us. He had lovely bronze hair and a very serious expression. I felt a slight flutter in my stomach I could not pinpoint. Esme and the others were right behind me, at this moment, and they called out to them. Bella, Edward, its great to see the two of you. We gained a new member while you were off. Carlisle said this so casually. Edward stared right at my eyes and I sighed, Yes, Edward, theyre blue and have always been. He stared at me then chuckled awkwardly, Ah, thats strange. A few minutes later, we found ourselves in another meeting. Bellas voice rang out, faltering slightly, Alice promised the Volturi that I would become one of you. Theyre going to send someone to check and Im sure thats a bad thing. So, now, this involves you all. If you dont want me, I wont force myself on youthen, Ill go back to Italy alone because I cant risk them coming here. She continued forward, ignoring Edwards furious expression, Taking that into account, Im putting my mortality to a vote. I took in a sharp breath. I didnt even listen to Edwards foolish plan about dodging the Volturi. The vote began.
