Oh, the Life of a Ninja: Part 5

It was 12:30 AM per your watch when Naruto finally met you in the forest, panting.
"It was the milk... Bathroom..." he muttered. You permitted a smile to touch your lips, and Naruto stared at you.
"What?" you asked, the smile fading.
"For a second there, you looked like a... Never mind. Show me the jutsu."
You, confused, nevertheless told him to stand back, took a breath, and got into a stance. You hadn't done this in a while... It was painful, draining, and hard to control. You stuck your left hand out, fingers spread wide, and gripped the wrist with your right hand. It was at least some form of control. You took one more breath, and then...
"VORTEX NO JUTSU!" you cried. Pain seared through your left hand as a hole opened up in it, a black hole, and wind swirled violently around and into it. You grit your teeth and dug your feet into the ground, waiting. Finally, the nearest tree uprooted itself and sank into the hole in your hand. You quickly balled it into a fist and the hole closed and then sank your knees, breathing heavily.
"Whoa..." Naruto whispered, tugging at the collar of his black shirt.
"Yeah," you managed to choke. "Painful, draining, hard to control... But useful."
He helped you up. "You ok?"
"Yeah... I just haven't used it in awhile." You dragged a hand across your face.
"You really are tough, huh?"
"I have to be..."
"What do you mean?"
You began walking towards the village; you'd rented a room at an inn. "Naruto, we both need some sleep..."
"Hold on a sec! You're the toughest guy I know, why?"
You turned around and felt frozen to the ground by his blue eyes locking onto yours. "I..."
"You're a really tough person, ______-kun. But you're still a kid. Why do you think none of us call you sensei? We know you're still a kid, you deserve to be treated like one somehow. Why'd you throw away your childhood? Just to become a jounin? You've got your whole life for that-"
"Naruto." You tore your gaze away and turned around. "There are a lot of things in my past I don't want to talk about. I did throw away my childhood. I was a stupid person. Most of it was taken away from me, but I did have a chance to start over. I was just too stupid to realize it. Now I've made a mistake, and I must deal with the consequences." You gave him a small smile. "But... Thanks for caring." With that, you left Naruto, quickly heading for your 'place.' And when you got inside, to a mirror, you half-convinced yourself that it was the cold that had caused your red cheeks.
