Chapter 39
"You're actually going out with a freak that asked you out at a supermarket?!" Kristin yelled after a few seconds.

I shook my head. "He was really cute, and I didn't want to turn him down. It wouldn't be nice."

"Oh yeah, like you've never turned down guys before." she said sarcastically, flashing her eyes toward Bam.

"Let's just drop this." I told her.

"No!" she said frustrated. "Why must you keep dating these retards, then when someone good comes along you completely ignore them?"

"Kristin, I'm not dealing with this now." I said through gritted teeth.

"Fine. Have fun on your date." she said angrily and walked out of the room.

I sighed and sat down at the table with Ryan, Bam, and Novak.

"Don't mind her Jayce. She just cares a lot about you." Ryan tried to comfort me.

"Yeah, I know. But seriously, it's not like I'm going to end up falling in love with this guy. I'm going home on Sunday. How much can happen inbetween now and then?" I explained.

"You're going home Sunday?" Novak asked.

I nodded. "Yeah, being here is really weird for me."

I looked quickly at Bam, and from what I saw he seemed really upset. From my words I wasn't sure.

I stood up and went over to my abandoned bags of food and grabbed some pop-tarts out. "Anyone else want one?"

Everyone but Bam shook their head. "Bam?" I questioned.

"Yeah, I would like one." he said quietly.

I turned around to find a toaster. I placed the pop-tarts in and pulled the lever down. I could hear whispering behind me.

I looked back at the boys to see that they were huddled around eachother discussing something.

"Want to fill me in?" I said right behind Bam's ear.

He jumped up in shock. "NO!"

I frowned. "Fine, get your own pop-tart then."

I walked over to the toaster, took out my pop-tart and walked upstairs to my room.

I stayed on my computer for most of the day, until a knock came on my door.

"Yeah?" I yelled not looking up from the computer.

I heard the door open and close and the bed sqeak down next to me.

"I wanted to talk to you." Bam said.

I finally looked up from my computer and frowned slightly.

"About what?" I asked impatient.

"That." he motioned towards me.

"What do you mean?" I asked, truely confused.

"You! You treat me like the scum of the Earth. You won't even give me a chance at anything, yet you're willing to go out with some random guy that picks you up at a supermarket?" he explained, agrivated.

"Bam, there is a difference. I felt bad for this stranger. I know you. I've known you for a little while, and I don't really get that you're being serious." I stated.

He seemed to get more annoyed. "We had a conversation like this in tenth grade Jayce! You knew I liked you then, you were just scared to commit to it. And look what happened when you waited! It was too late, I had gone away!"

"Don't get exasperated Bam. I know now how you felt then, I just don't believe that you still feel anything towards me that is anything like then." I said, closing my laptop.

"Why should it be any different now?" he questioned.

"Because! We haven't seen eachother in years! I haven't talked to you, haven't heard anything from you. It's not like it was. You can't just see someone after seven years and feel everything that you did then all over again. People's minds change, they get to reflect on the thoughts they had then and realize what they were really thinking, Bam. I've had time to do that."

He seemed taken aback by what I had told him. "You think you didn't really love me then?"

"I've just...had time to think about it and it doesn't really seem logical. How could I love you so easily? It made no sense to me." I tried to explain.

"Made no sense? Jayce! Why would you ever doubt what we had?" he asked upset.

"Because we didn't get to have anything! You left the minute I told you what I felt! I can't even count that as a relationship. It was nothing!" I shouted.

"Nothing?! It was something! You know damn well that it was something. You never would have said anything to me if you weren't positively sure. I've spent enought time around you to figure that out."

I sighted heavily. "Bam, I should really get ready for this date now."

"No!" he said standing off the bed.

"No?" I said confused.

"No! I do not want you going out with cereal boy! Stay here, talk things out with me!" he demanded.

"Bam, you know I wouldn't just leave some poor soul hanging like that." I told him.

He huffed. "Can't you just be a bad person once?"

I got up off the bed and walked pushed Bam out the door. "No, I can't."

I slammed the door in his face and went to go get changed.

"Bam, you're going to drive me up a fucking wall one day." I muttered.

"I heard that!" he shouted on the other side of the door.

"Get away!" I shouted back.

"No! I'm not letting you go!" he yelled again.

"You are acting like a five year old! I am going on this date and there is nothing you can do to stop me."

He huffed and I heard him sit down outside the door. "We'll see about that."

I ignored him, got ready and quietly climbed out of the window in my room.

Thank God my room was above the porch, or else I wouldn't have been able to leave.

I walked over to my car, jumped in and tried to start the car but it wouldn't budge.

I kept turning the key in the ignition but the car wouldn't even make a noise that it was alive.

My hoped are so high that your kiss might kill me, so won't you kill me.

I reached for my cell phone. "Hello?"

"Missing something are we?" Bam said.

"What did you do to my car?" I accused.

"I didn't do anything. Ryan did it for me while I was blocking your door." he said happily.

"Bam, you seriously have lost your mind. Give me back whatever the hell you took and let me leave." I demanded.

"Ummm no. I need to finish talking to you, and I'm not letting you go out on dates when I feel that we need to talk about things.

"Oh shove it! I'm not having this conversation with you now." I said, annoyed.

"Fine." he started. "I'll just come get you."

I heard the front door open and I looked up to see Bam walking towards my car.

I quickly hit the lock button on it and smirked at him.

"I have all night Jayce. You're gonna have to come out at one point." he told me.

"No, I don't think I will." I smiled before hanging up the phone and putting my ipod that was in the seat next to me, into my ears.
