Ian was later allowed to re-enter the room, so long as he kept quiet and completed all work. Mrs Daniels would be checking.
He sat back in his seat, listening to Tess and Mike giggling, scribbling on each other's faces.
"You just drew on me! It's my turn! Stop moving!" Tess laughed as she marked a thick blue biro line down Mike's cheek.
Mike then took it upon himself to forget to face, but scribbled a large face under the little work that Tess had done.
"Mike Lewis, at the end of this lesson you and Rhys will be swapping seats. You and Tess are not to sit together again this term." They had been caught, but it didn't bother them. They concealed their laughter for the remaining 20 minutes of the first lesson.
The bell went, signalling to the rest of the school that first lesson was over. Unfornutantly for this class, they had a double english lesson.
Rhys and Mike moved all their things, so Mike was now sat nearer the front beside Jamie.
Rhys stared at Tess' face in confusion, questioning the rainbow pen marks across her face.
"Pen fight. I so totally beat Mike!" She said, loudly, just so Mike could hear and respond, which he did.
"No way! I think you'll find that you have far more pen on you! And I got your book! I'm still the champion." He said bluntly, now turning back around to face the front, avoiding any more punishment that Mrs Daniels could enforce.
Tess giggled and went to working, glancing at Rhys' work since he was far ahead of her and he had the answers.
Ian finished the question and turned around to Tess and Rhys. This could be awkward he thought to himself. He had managed to calm down after his earlier outburst towards Jordon.
"So you two doing anything at the weekend?" He asked hopefully. Rhys turned up his head giving his brain time to register what he was being asked before answering. "It's supposed to be my place, but Lee's going to London with his mum and Stu's going up to Pembroke for other family matters and Jamie's working Saturday morning and Sunday morning, so it'll just be us and Mike, unless your busy..." He trailed off, now ignoring Rhys completely, concentrating on Tess who hadn't acknowledged he was speaking.
Rhys had picked up on that, so to avoid the ever increasing silence, he spoke up, "Well I have to go to Merthyr. It was Gav's birthday on Monday and because I forgot to call him I have to go and see him and I have to take him a present. It sounds like fun though! Gav just misses the slightly normal conversation that the others don't give him."
Rhys' fake smile was obvious and Ian smiled a thanks back, even though he was slightly confused at the long description. "So, are you coming, Tess?"
This time she looked up, "It'll be fun!" Ian smiled, hoping for her to say yes.
"No. I mean, I'd love to and everything, but I'm sort of busy sitting at home doing nothing." She gave her best sarcastic smile then straight to her your really starting to piss me off look.
"Ah, so you are talking to me." He said to the top of Tess' head as she had looked back down to work. "I was only asking out of politeness, not that I expected nor wanted you to come or anything."
He spun back around on his chair, just before Tess grabbed everything she owned and walked ran out the classroom, not saying a word to anyone. Leaving poor Mrs Daniels stood at the front of the class, unaware of what had just happened.
"Good one Watkins!" Jordon called, giving him a thumbs up once he had seen Ian with his arms outstretch infront of him, head on the desk.
Good one, Ian. Pat on the back, mate.
