Sara made some popcorn and took a seat on the couch. She plopped in her all time favorite movie “The Notebook”. About half an hour later Andy walked in with a man following him. That man was wearing a suit and had a briefcase. Sara looked confused. “Sara… I really don’t want to do this, but I heard everything you said to Diana on the phone. This is Phillip Hawkins, a divorce lawyer.” Andy said. Sara’s eyes widened, her jaw dropped, and all the popcorn that was in her mouth fell out. “Andy…” She said in a shallow breath. “Why…?” she asked. Sara sounded like she was out of breath. “You want to be with Zane, Sara. I can tell. The phone call only proved me right.” Andy said, his voice rising slightly. The bowl of popcorn was sitting on Sara’s lap. When she got up it fell to the ground, all of it spilling. She didn’t care. She walked over to Andy and slapped him in the face. “If you want to divorce me then FINE! GO AHEAD!” Sara yelled. Tears were falling and she grabbed the paper from the lawyer’s hands and signed it so heavily the paper ripped. “You will never be able to erase that.” Sara yelled showing the paper to Andy. You could see her whole signature town into the paper. Andy looked down. He was about to cry himself, but he controlled himself. Sara slapped him in the face one last time before leaving the condo. Andy and Phillip just stood there. You could hear Sara’s tires squeal when she backed out of the driveway and turned too quickly. Andy ran his fingers through his hair. He knew this was the end of it.
Andy signed the divorce paper. “I will file this and everything will be settled. Have a good night.” Phillip said before leaving. Andy sighed and walked to his bedroom. He looked in the closet and saw all of Sara’s suitcases. He began putting her clothes into them. Once finished he collapsed down on the bed and turned to face her nightstand. There was a picture of the two of them on their wedding day. Becky took it. Andy sighed and took the picture and put it face down. He grasped the corners of his eyes to prevent himself from crying.
Sara was driving really fast. She was wiping her eyes every now and then to prevent the tears from blurring her vision. Zane told her when he lived on the way back to work so Sara headed there. The apartment looked night. Zane had told Sara it was a two bedroom, full kitchen and den, one bathroom apartment. It sounded like a suit, but Zane told her that it wasn’t as big as a suit. She memorized the apartment number; Apt. 78. Sara parked her car in the parking lot and walked into the building. She passed the lobby man and headed towards the elevator. Floor number six lit up after Sara pressed it. She wiped away more tears on her way up to his room. Sara still couldn’t believe it was true. Maybe they weren’t soul mates after all, like she had thought they were.
The elevator door opened and Sara walked out. The apartment before her was number seventy. Eight apartments down and she would be in front of Zane’s. So, Sara began walking towards Apt. 78. The door was red and there was a peephole. Hopefully Zane wouldn’t be sleeping. There wasn’t any work tomorrow. Sara was grateful for that. She knocked on the door three times. After about a minute no one answered. Sara was about to knock on the door again, but Zane answered. “Sara?” he asked. He sounded like he just woke up. “Yeah, it’s me. I need a place to stay and was thinking that… well… I could crash here for a while.” Sara said. “Yeah, you can. Come in.” Zane said and opened the door wider so that Sara could walk in. “Did I wake you up?” Sara asked. “Not really. I was about to go to sleep.” Zane said. “I’m sorry.” Sara apologized. “You can sleep in the guest room.” Zane said before yawning. He motioned towards a door that was to the right of another door. Sara walked towards it and opened it. The light came on automatically.
The room was decorated in black and white. The bed was black while the sheets were white. The walls were white and the floors were black. It was a nice room. Sara plopped down on the bed and instantly fell asleep. Sara didn’t like the dream she was having. It was more like a nightmare. Andy and she got a divorce and she moved back to the states. Her family hated her for divorcing Andy and hated her more for the fact that she still loved Zane. She woke up with cold sweat running down her face. Her head turned to face the clock and read five o’clock. Sara decided to get up and get some coffee. She planned on going shopping today.
