"Your leaving!?" I said slowly, my voice cracking slightly.
Tabby bit her lip and nodded before letting out another sob.
"My parents. There--there taking me back to Spain." She choked out.
"What!? Why?"
She wiped her wet face, only for fresh tears to fall from her sea green eyes.
"I d-dont know. My mother just sent a l-letter telling me to pack my things."
"When do you have to leave?" I questioned, a tear starting to pour down my own face.
"...Tonight."
Mer let out a loud sob and buried her face in her hands. I looked at her, symathetically and remembered Tabby is her best friend.
The Slytherin let her hands fall to her sides again and looked up at Tabitha.
"I'm going to miss you so much!" She cried before pulling her into a hug.
I looked over at Cassie whos head was hung low, tears falling from her chocolate eyes. I outstreached an arm and pulled her into a side hug.
The four of us stood in the centre of the hallway for a long while after. Once our tears had stopped, Tabby looked at her watch and pulled a face as if she was about to cry again.
"I have to go now."
We all nodded, all trying to fight back our tears.
We waited outside as Tabby got her things from her dorm in Gryffindor common room and said goodbye to some other students.
She stepped out of the portrait and joined us as we made our way to Proffesor McGonagulls classroom where Tabby would be floo powdering to her own house, in the meanwhile talking about everything and anything.
Once we were outside we each gave her a hug.
"I'm gonna miss you so much Tab!" I whispered as it was my turn to hug her.
"I know! I'll always think of you whenever I bump into someone in a clothes store."
I laughed with her as she metioned how we first became friends. I released her from the hug as Mer stepped forward and hugged her tightly, then Cassie.
Once letting her go and wiping a tear that seemed to have escaped from her eyes Cassie looked at Tabby,
"You ready?"
Begrudgingly she nodded. Cassie opened the door and walked in, the 3 of us following her closely.
The Transfiguration teacher looked up and stood up, expecting our presence. She walked over to Tabby and placed a hand on her shoulder,
"Miss Martins, you have been a wonderful student. It has been a pleasure teaching you." Tabby smiled at her Head of House.
"Now if you are ready, step into the fireplace."
Tabby turned to us and gave us a smile,
"Love you guys. I'll write as soon as I get there."
Her bloodshot eyes became watery again.
She grabbed a handful of powder Professor McGonagull was holding.
"I guess this is 'Adios!'" She said in Spanish accent before laughing slightly.
She took a deep breath before stating clearly,
"Martins Household!"
In the blink of an eye the figure of Tabitha dissapeared in the green flames which erupted from the fireplace.
The three of us stood there, tears free falling down our faces as one of our best friends left.
McGonagull looked over at us sadly before gently telling us it was past curfew and we should get back to our dorms.When we were outside the hall Mer broke down and once again placed her head in her hands. Cassie walked over to her and was about to hug her when she broke away and ran down the coridor, her cries echoing down the hall towards Slytherin Common Room.
Cassie looked over to me shocked. I gave her a weak smile before saying softly,
"She needs to be alone for a while. She'll come to us when shes ready."
She nodded and began to wipe her eyes. We silently walked to Ravenclaw common room and up to the shared dorm. All the other girls were asleep when we arrived, it was well past 10.30pm. The heavy rain had stopped now, and the cold, damp air floated in through the open windows.
I grabbed my pyjamas to change into and stepped into the bathroom. I washed and brushed my teeth before descending back into the room, Cassie stepping past me into the bathroom and switching on one of the showers.
Just as I was about to crawl into bed there was a tap at the window. Thinking it was an owl from Tabby I ran over to it and pulled it open.
I gasped in shock at who was before me.
"Draco!?"
I looked surprised and slightly confused at Draco who was perched on his broom, hovering at the same level as the window.
"We're supposed to go flying, remember?"
I dropped my shoulders, now knowing why he was here.
"Obviously not because you seem to be ready for bed." He said suddenly, looking me up and down, smirking ever so slightly.
I felt my face turn about 5 shades of red as I looked down at my ensemble choice for tonight; a white cami and blue PJ shorts.
I took a step backwards behind the window, trying to hide myself before walking back forward and realising you could easily see through the glass.
He laughed slightly and then stopped, probably seeing my red eyes from crying so much,
"Hey, whats wrong?"
I sighed heavily and sat at the window sill as he did the same, only on the outside window ledge. He put his arm round me with one arm, his other hand laced with mine. I began playing with the silver ring which he always wore and I placed my head on his shoulder as I began to explain that Tabby had left. After a short while he looked down at me,
"I'm sorry to hear that." He said, stroking my hair softly.
I smiled up at him, thinking to myself;
By the way he said that I can tell hes not sorry seeing as Tabby is a muggleborn and Gryffindor. But saying hes sorry atleast shows he cares...
A soft click of the bathroom door unlocking made me left my head from Draco's shoulder.
"Cassies going to be coming out now." I whispered, my hand still holding onto his.
He nodded, knowing he should get back to the Slytherin dorm before she saw him. Before straddling his broom again he leant in and gave me a kiss, his touch sending shivers up my spine. As the bathroom door opened we pulled away and whispered a quick goodbye before zooming off into the night.
I turned my head from staring out the window as Cassies footsteps got closer.
"Draco?" She whispered, obviously knowing he was there judging from me position of still sitting by the open window.
I nodded and jumped off the stone ledge, my feet coming into contact with the cold floor.
I tiptoed back to my bed and crawled into the silky covers, the faint fragrent scent of Draco still lingering. Closing my eyes, drowsiness began to take over. Before I fell into a deep sleep I looked up at my bedside cabinet and stared at the 4 smiling faces of me, Mer, Cassie and Tabby laughing merrily in Hogsmeade.
I felt my eyes close slowly and murmered just below a whisper,
"We're going to miss you Tab..."
