I peered through the curtain of leaves and trees obscuring my vision it was unnaturally thick. An almost inaudible gasp escaped my lips.
"Oh my god" I said, completely distracted by the absolute beauty and detail of the "palace," as Danny called it.
"I know. It's amazing. But it's pretty generic inside."
"But its the most beautiful building I've ever seen on the outside," I admitted. He nodded in agreement.
The gargantuan structure looked as if it were carved from one solid hunk of wood. If you looked closely, you'd see that it was really billions of tiny hexagons, like honey combs, each no more than one-half centimeter across. Their miniscule size allowed the building to curve flawlessly in any direction. It looked like a tree trunk of perfection that was over three kilometers in diameter from a couple meters away. I stepped closer. From barely ten centimeters away, I could view it as a cylindrical building with large tree-like boughs ascending from the base. I brushed my fingers ever so lightly across the wall. It may have looked rough, but the smooth wood held only the minutest depressions forming alien symbols and images. It was difficult to believe that such intricacy was accomplished with such small markings.
Danny then grasped my arm and pulled me a little over to the left. He pushed open a door that had been invisible to my overwhelmed eyes moments before. I practically leaped inside, ready to behold more of what I saw outside.
My mind was disappointed. As Danny had said earlier, the inside was extremely generic, not to mention repetitive. I was astonished to see that the inside held not the contents of a building, but a small city. Each small, two-story home was made of the same wood as the outside, but in a duller, slightly repulsive shade. They were covered in the same style markings, though these were simpler. The more house-like features were much more visible than the door had been to get in here.
"Danny, wheres the 'mansion?'" I asked, confused. I didn't see any buildings different or lager than the obvious and identical homes.
"Up there," he told me, pointing at the ceiling.
"You mean you can go and walk up in the branches and stuff?" I asked.
"Yup."
"Wow. Is it nicer up there?"
"A whole lot." he led me over to a small, boxlike section cut out of the wall. It looked something like an empty elevator shaft. He stepped into it, and I followed. "Hold on tight," he advised. I grasped a small handle jutting out from the wall. Then, seeming to talk to the walls, he said "palace entranceway."
Suddenly I was standing in the middle of a well-lit, open room. "How did you do that?" I asked, looking at him as if he had three heads. Just then, a gray-brown blur streaked past me. "Was that a werewolf?"
"No. It was a hoosey-falunkey giraffe-elephant," he said sarcastically. "Of course it was a werewolf," Danny said, now laughing.
Oh, I guess he does show emotions! I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Do you want to meet my parents, the king and queen?"
"I don't know. Do I want to meet your parents?"

"Well you're going to have to eventually, so you might as well get it over with." He began to lead me somewhere else. That hadn't sounded good.

Thanks for reading!! And a hoosey-falunkey giraffe-elephant is an animal my language arts teacher made up. She was talking to us about writing prompts for CMT's, nad she said, "I don't care if the subject is the hoosey-falunkey giraffe-elephant, you're gonna be able to write about it." SO or course, Katie an I were immediately obsessed with it for awhile, and that while was while I ws writing chapter five.
