Picture the perfect date with one person that you really like.
Picture him leaning in to kiss you, right at the perfect moment, thus making the date even better.
Then picture your father busting in with a gun, ready to shot the guy right before his lips touch yours.
Yeah...minus the father, gun, and the perfect date/kiss, that's kinda what happened in the Starbucks.
And it sucked.
"Avery?" I said loudly, the blood rushing out of my head.
I could feel my palms get sweaty and uncomfortably cold.
As soon as the guy who used to mean the world to me spotted me in the booth, his eyes lit up and he waved, walking quickly over.
Where's the fucking pause button when you need one?!
"Kyra!" Avery called happily, getting closer and dodging someone carrying four cups of coffee.
I could feel the mood sour at the booth amongst my friends and brother.
And I was frozen.
I haven't had enough space and time yet!
So yeah, basically I sat in the booth like an idiot while my "boyfriend" was hurrying over, followed by a sour looking William.
Andy, Mike, and Sisky looked pretty sour too; Sisky most of all.
Finally, I snapped out of it just as Avery arrived at the table, looking confused as to why I wasn't jumping up and down, hugging him to death.
"Avery, what are you doing here?!" I hissed as I stood up, trying to be discrete, but I knew my friends and brother could hear me.
Andy coughed loudly.
"I came to see you baby...I missed you!" Avery said, further embarrassing me.
That was the last straw; I simply could not take it anymore.
Grabbing Avery's wrist, I trudged to the exit, blushing horribly but ready to do what I knew I had to do.
So ready.
So unbelievably ready.
"What's going on?" Avery asked loudly, pulling his wrist out of my claw-like grasp as soon as we were outside in the cool air.
Here goes nothing...
"Avery, I appreciate you coming up here, but I want you to leave." I said, not breaking eye contact with him at all.
Obviously, I dented his happy feelings.
"Wait, what? You want me to leave?" He seemed surprised, hurt, and confused.
Not that I could blame him very much.
"Yes, I want you to go back home. We need some space."
Actually, what I mean to say is: I'M BREAKING UP WITH YOU!
But of course, I'm a little wimp so I didn't say that.
I think that was the point where Avery got angry. So angry, in fact, he knocked all the flower pots off the window sill next to him with one, angry swipe.
From looking through the window, I saw Andy and Mike stand up from their booth and start towards the exit, having been watching us the entire time.
"It's because of that stupid Australian guy, isn't it?! You whore; I knew I couldn't trust you around him! Fuck!"
The first thing that hit me was about the Australian. I blinked for a second before remembering that William had told Avery that I had dated Michael instead of Sisky.
The second thing that hit me was the fact that he called me a whore.
Sweet, innocent Avery called me a fucking whore...
So yeah, I slapped him.
Hard.
Across the face.
He can't say he didn't deserve it.
"No, you bastard. Because I'm in love with Sisky." I growled, the never-truer words escaping my mouth with no chance of stopping them before they were heard...by more ears than just Avery's.
I turned away from Avery's gasping, gaping mouth as he held his face where I slapped him, and my eyes grew wide.
Standing at the door to Starbucks, open mouthed and shocked, were Andy, Mike, William, and last but most certainly not least, Sisky.
