"I'll get it!" I called to Kirsty, racing towards the apartment door. We had spent the whole week unpacking and getting settled in. The apartment was still a mess, so we didn't invite anyone in, but our neighbors were still coming over to introduce themselves. God, why'd we have to pick such a friendly apartment?
I reached the door and unbolted it, opening it carefully. I stuck my head out so no one could see the mess of an apartment room, and was surprised to see William. "Oh, hey." I said. I stepped out of the apartment, careful to keep the door closed. I closed it behind me, making sure it wasn't locked. "What's up?" I asked.
"Not much," He said. "Just wanted to make sure you're feeling better after... The other day."
"Oh yeah. I'm fine." I waved the matter away. "So how have you been?"
He smiled. "I've been pretty good." What about you?"
I couldn't help but smile back. He was so sweet! "I've been pretty good. Getting settled in had been a bitch though."
"Yeah, I know how that can be." He seemed completely unphased by my swearing. Awesome.
"Yup." I said, hugging myself. I was in a tank-top and boxers, and it was freezing! I probably should have grabbed a sweater. "So is that all you came over for?" I asked, looking at him curiously. If he didn't want anything else, I was going to go inside and be warm.
"Oh, right." He said, looking evasive. "Well, I... Umm... Well you know, I never really got the chance to know you... So I-I wanted to know if you wanted to... Well, start over and... Gogetcoffeewithme."
I smiled. He was so cute, the way he got all nervous and stuff. "I'd like that." I said.
His face lit up. "Cool!" He said. "So umm... How about Friday morning? I'll come for you around eight?"
I frowned. "Can't it be any later?"
"Hmm..." He said, pretending to be thoughtful. "I guess I can come by at ten..."
I smiled again, reaching for the door. "That's better."
He noticed me itching to go inside and got the hint. "So I guess I'll see you then?"
I nodded. "See ya then."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friday came so painstakingly slow that I thought it was never going to arrive. But finally it did.
I woke up at eight so that I could shower, blow-dry, and straighten my hair. Once all that was done, I put on my favorite pair of skinny jeans, an All Time Low tee-shirt [[Just to be a tease]], and my favorite pair of black ballet flats. Grabbing my make-up bag, I bounced happily towards the bathroom and started putting on some eye-liner and mascara. Not a whole lot, but enough to decide I looked decent.
As soon as I finished, I grabbed my purse and threw in the necessities: Phone, lip-gloss, wallet, gum, etc. I glanced at the clock. 9:48.
Nice.
I went into Kirsty's room and threw a throw pilliow at her face. She made a "Uhhh" noise, and I laughed. "I'm leaving." I said, heading for the door.
"Ehh." Kirsty mumbled, waving me away. "Shut the door on your way out."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Thank you so much for taking me out." I said, leaning against the door frame of my apartment building and smiling up at William. "I had a lot of fun."
He smiled back at me. "No problem. I had fun too."
It was silent for a few moments. I couldn't tell if Will was deciding whether or not to kiss me or hug me goodbye or what. I drumed my fingers quietly on the door and avoided eye contact. It was getting awkward.
"Well I guess you should get inside." Will said quietly, smile gone. He was looking into my eyes now, and I noticed him looking down at my lips.
Well that answers that question.
Call me crazy but I didn't want to kiss him right then.
When he put his hand on my arm to pull me in closer to him, I was scared shitless by the tingles shooting through my arm and up to my face, turning it, I'm very sure, a lovely pink color.
I could feel his warm breath on my face as he leaned closer to me. I wanted to run, but I was frozen to the spot. My fingers inched towards the doorknob, but that was the only part of me that was moving. My whole body ached to grab his face and pull him into me and start sucking face with him like I had seen those silly teenagers do in the park.
I gripped the doorknob as soon as he came in for the kill and twisted it while squirming out of his grasp. I pushed open the door and quickly slipped inside, narrowly avoiding his oncoming lips. Slamming the door, I locked it and leaned against it, sliding down to sit on the floor.
Shit!
Cause I'm sick and tired of waiting,
Sick of this fucking apartment.
Thanks again for reading and sorry about going all AWOL and crap!
Ugh... How many others agree with me when I say boys suck?
