I woke up around 1 am to the buzzing of my cell phone that was vibrating in my pocket.
“Something’s vibrating.”I whispered and took out my cell phone.
Hello? I whispered getting out of bed.
“French, it’s Gee. The date went awesome; I think I really like her.” He said sounding really tired as I heard the baby crying in the background.
“That’s great Gee, go to sleep. I’m so happy about your date.” I said half asleep.
“Thanks sis, for everything.” He said hanging up the phone in my face before I could even say good- bye back. I sat back down onto the bed and looked out the window. What would Lindsey think? Jay groaned and turned around in the bed and cracked open his eyes.
“Hey Baby, what are you doing? It’s 1 in the morning.” He whispered.
“I’ll be right back, go back to sleep.” I said kissing him and walking out of the room. I tip toed out of the bunkhouse and sat on the porch where it was so quite I could hear the crickets chirping.
“Needed some fresh air?” Frank said stepping out into the crisp night.
“Yea couldn’t sleep.” I lied crossing my leg Indian style in the folding chair.
“Is there something on your mind French, because since everything with grandma you haven’t been yourself.” Frank said putting his hand on my shoulder and sighed.
“No, I just need to be alone, since everything, with the Grandma thing I haven’t had time to be alone, so if you excuse me.” I said stepping off the porch and walking towards the road that led to a small trail that surrounded the whole campground. The night was so wonderful. It was a full moon, not too muggy but not to damp and the moon was bright enough that I didn’t need a flashlight. While walking, I couldn’t help but think. I still couldn’t believe I broke with Andy after I told him I loved him and after three wonderful months, for a guy I only new two weeks before going out with him and couldn’t imagine him not being in my life.
“Need a little company?” Frank said coming towards me with a MAG light in his hand and two coffees.
“I guess since you have coffee.” I mumbled as I took my coffee from him.
We both sat on an old log that was lying in the path just looking at each other closely trying to figure out what the other was thinking.
“So really Paige, I know your upset with the whole Grandma thing, but there has to be more then that.” Frank said sipping his already cold coffee.
‘I just can’t believe it was so quickly diagnosed, how could she could get diagnosed with a huge dangerous disease that quickly if there were no symptoms?” I asked giving him an odd look.
French, she’s been sick for a long time. No one told you.” Frank said giving me an odd look.
“I guess not.” I said in shock, “how long has she been sick?”
“Since after Easter, I couldn’t believe your mother didn’t tell you?” frank said as his eyes widened.
“Why didn’t you tell me? I said starting to cry, you know Frankie that’s a serious issue.”
“Well, Gerard said I wasn’t allowed to say anything because he didn’t want your summer to be ruined.” Frank said looking down at me.
“Gerard said what? I can’t believe it that little pain in the ass.” I said as my jaw dropped. Frank grabbed my hand and helped me off the log.
“I’m sorry French. I thought you knew. Actually, your mom told me.” Frank said as we walked back to the bunkhouse.
“You want to walk Titanic when we get back?” Frank said getting excited.
“Only if you want to put me to sleep.”
“Did you see Jay and Frankie’s bunkhouse, its destroyed, and none of the camp people are actually doing anything about it.” Julie said as I woke up.
“Yea, I mean who would do that to Jay and Frankie, there too nice.” Sky said sitting on my legs.
“Oww. Sky you have a bony butt.” I shrieked jolting up off the couch.
‘Thanks.” She said grinning and jumped off the futon.
“Where’s Frankie?” Julie asked as she brought in the living area a plate of toaster stroodles.
“I don’t know, but don’t worry he’s frank Iero, He’ll find his way home.” I said laughing.
“Just like your dad.” Julie said laughing also.
“ Like Nephew like Uncle.” I said laughing
“French, that doesn’t make sense.” Sky said giving me a look.
“I know.” I said grinning
“French your such a dumb ass.” sky said rolling her eyes and walking away
“And Proud to be it!”
