From the very corner of her eye she can see Hailey waiting for her. But Aiden doesn't let her feet lead her that way. She couldn't face her. She was a coward. Aiden couldn't hurt Gerard and she also couldn't deal with the consequences of her actions- or lack there of.
Tears parade down her cheeks as she runs along the path in the direction of her house; breathing erratically as she follows the broken path up and around the corner, stopping at the intersection as cars zoom by her, picking up her hair as they fly past.
Her attention is taken from the traffic lights to behind her; a dark shadow racing up the direction she had just come from. She whips her head around and stamps one of her feet anxiously on the concrete, wishing the lights would change so she could get across.
Aiden looks behind her again, the shadowy figure gaining ground as she's still standing helplessly at the lights. Light rain was starting to fall, dampening her hair and her dress.
Looking behind her, for the last time, she hears the sound that indicates it's safe for her to cross, and she surges forward instantly; running across the wet asphalt to the other side of the street.
She doesn't look behind her again, concentrating on her flats clicking down the pavement as she turns another corner, noticing the streetlights leading towards darkness. There was only a few streetlights beyond where she was now.
Now she was in the darkness, the rain now heavier and her clothes soaked to the bone. All she could do was keep along, what she hoped was, the path; wiping away her stringing, wet hair from her cheeks. Aiden starts to feel a little confident as the time goes by and she's been walking along the path in the dark without a hitch. That is, until she looses her footing and tumbles to the ground.
She lets out a whimper as she hits the concrete; her knees being the first to meet with the cold, wet surface, the second being her numbing hands.
A hand finds her shoulder in the darkness and she gasps, pushing away the hand and scrambling desperately to her feet.
"It's me." the voice coos.
And, although she recognises the voice as Gerard's, her stomach still lurches into her throat.
"Why are you flowing me." Aiden chokes, running her grazed hands along her soaked dress.
"You seemed upset. And I couldn't let you walk home, not from here." he tells her calmly.
"I don't need your help to get home. I'm fine."
Aiden feels her hands tremble as the cold sets in; her teeth chattering together without her noticing.
"Come here." Gerard asks her, trying to hide the desperation in his voice; worrying himself about her was not going to help the situation.
Aiden pushes his arms away as she feels them try to snake their way around her shoulders.
"Please."
Gerard's voice breaks slightly and Aiden, eventually, lets herself fall into his arms, closing her eyes as soon as she's in his comforting grip.
"Are you okay?" he questions, pulling her along slightly so they can start the journey back to his place.
"Y-yeah." she exhales, "I'm sorry- about Hailey and what I was going to do and..."
Gerard's arms stiffen, Aiden feels it, and their pace starts to quicken.
"What were you going to do?" he inquires lowly, now feeling the cold too.
REST IN RESULTS
Relax, relax. Exhale and breathe
"Nothing." she replies after a lengthy silence, "It was nothing." she adds quietly, biting on her lip to stop her from saying anything more.
She didn't want to loose him, not again.
ooooooooh... Gerard!
Did you read the memo?
Well, if not, you should have.
Why didn't you?
