~Dream scene~
"?????, why did ???? Leave?" you asked your knees brought up to your chest, staring into the fire.
"She said something about wanting to go to Kanto, but that's all."
"So are you going to become a trainer too?"
"Yeah, but first I'll need a Pokemon." You looked at the egg in your arms.
"Do you want this one?"
"No, that one's yours. You have to raise it on your own."
"Right I wonder what kind of Pokemon will come out"
"What I'm trying to figure out is why you took it in the first place. That thing almost cost us our only way to get out of that place."
"He." You cut in.
"What?"
"He's a he, not an it." He quirked an eyebrow.
"And how do you know that?" you smiled.
"I don't know, I just know hey ?????, why is it that you dont act so cold to ???? And me?"
"Don't ask such a dumb question, you know the answer." You giggled.
"Yeah" you yawned. "I guess all that walking took a lot out of me" you rubbed your eyes trying to keep them open.
"Go to sleep. You'll need the rest." You nodded and rested your head on the soft grass, holding the egg close to your stomach. But before you fell asleep you said, "Thank you?????" you didn't see it but he gave a faint smile. "You're welcome, Reila."
~End Dream scene~
Once again, you were awaked to the light of the sun, you sat up and stretched. Staring out the window you sighed, then grinned. You jumped out of bed and went over to your bag and dug out your ribbon case. There it was, your fourth ribbon!
"My fourth ribbon, my fourth ribbon, my fourth ribbon." You danced around your room until you tripped over the sheets with a loud thud.
"OW!" then there was a knock at your door, crawling over to it and opening the door, it was Paul. You squinted then looked around. "This is new"
"What was that noise?" he asked annoyed.
"Oh" you grinned sheepishly. "I fell ^^;; but more importantly why did you stop to knock? You kinda take me as the "I don't care about anything" type.
"I don't."
"Well then, I'll see you at breakfast!" you shut your door and headed for the bathroom. You did your usual thing and brushed your hair, tying your bandana on your head, then heading out the door.
"Took you long enough." You screamed.
"Damn it man how many times do I have to tell you not to do that?!" he shrugged and walked on ahead.
"But I'm glad that you waited for me" you said catching up to him.
"Whatever." You smiled at his response.
"So are you entering the tag team tournament?" you asked the two of heading for the cafeteria, this time you got a fruit salad, while he got his usual coffee.
"Yeah, I'm looking for fire type Pokemon." He finally said taking a seat in a booth.
"But isn't Chimchar your fire type?" he didn't say anything. "I see" you started picking out the grape fruit. "Evil, evil, evil" you muttered putting them in the napkins. "Curse you grapefruit and your bitterness!" Paul quirked an eyebrow, you rubbed the back of your head. "The grapefruit juice makes all the other fruit bitter," you picked up a grape with your fork. "Except the all powerful grape! It's skin protects it from the grapefruit!" you yelled popping it in your mouth. All of a sudden your right shoulder started to burn, but it wasn't hot it was cold. You dropped the fork with a clang and gripped it.
"Why now?!" you cursed under your breath.
"What's wrong?" Paul said a hint of concern in his voice. You opened one eye and grinned, trying to hide your pain.
"I'mI'm fine. Just a slight sprain" you lied gritting your teeth. You laid your head on the table, still gripping your right arm. By now you were panting, the tattoo hasn't reacted like this in a while, so why now? When the pain finally died down, you lifted your head back up and covered your eyes with your hand.
"Sorry about that, it happens sometimes." You removed your hand and grinned. "But I'm okay now." You picked up your fork, but your hands were still shaking. You let out a sigh.
"You're pale." He said suddenly.
"Huh? Oh, yeah, I think I'm going to go take a walk." You started walking away.
"You better feel well by the time the tag team battle starts." He said with a smirk. "We still have a score to settle." You gave him a weak smile.
"Count on it." Walking out the sliding doors. You inhaled the crisp morning air and you walked around town. There were a few people walking around, opening up shops, or going to work. You sat down on a bench and rested your head on your hands.
"I'm running out of time I need to-"
"Reila? What are you doing out here?" you looked up to see it was Ash who cut you off from your thoughts.
"Just breathing in a little fresh air, and you?"
"I was so excited about the tag team battle I woke up early. Mind if I sit next to you?" you shook your head.
"Not at all." He sat down next to you.
"Man! I'm just so psyched! Just a few hours from now we're going to be in that ring fighting it out! Reila, I hope I get a rematch with you, this time it'll be different!" you giggled.
"Well you have to wait in line, I already promised Paul one." His face fell.
"Oh"
"Ash, I know Paul's way of training may seem wrong-"
"Seem? It doesn't seem wrong, it is wrong!" he yelled. "It's just not right! Pokemon are not just some tools to battle..."
"Just give him some time, he'll realize it eventually."
"But he still makes me so mad, theyre not machines, they're our friends too" you patted his back.
"Feeling better now?" he nodded.
"Yeah, but can I ask you something?"
"Ask away." You shrugged.
"Why do you keep hanging around him anyway?" leaning back into the bench, you looked up at the sky.
"This might sound selfish, but he reminds me of an old friend of mine thatwent away a long time ago. But I don't see them as the same person or anything, it's just that they're personalities are so darn similar!" you laughed. "Is that really being selfish?" you asked turning to him. He grinned.
"It's not selfish at all! And maybe they can both meet if your friend ever comes back!"
"Yeahif he comes back" you said sadly, tears threatening to come out.
"Sorry! I-I didn't mean to make you sad"
"No it's alright." You stood up. "Well, I think I'm going to head back now. See you at the tournament!" you ran off towards the Pokemon center, slowing down as you reached the doors. The whole time you were staring at the ground.
"Oh, Reila there you are! Feraligatr and the others are fully healed, do you want them back now?" you said nothing but nodded.
Feraligatr greeted you with a bone crushing hug.
"I missed you too buddy! But I kind of need my lungs to breathe.!" he released with a sheepish grin, while you inhaled the much needed oxygen. "But I really needed that Feraligatr, thank you." You said hugging him. "Now let's do our best today!"
"Feral! Feraligatr!"
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"WELCOME TRAINERS TO THE HEARTHOME TAG TEAM BATLLE! I KNOW YOU'LL ALL HAVE A GOOD TIME-I SHOULD KNOW! I'M THE MAYOR- THE NAME'S ENTAA, IT'S BATTLE TIME!"
The audience roared with cheers, eager to see the match begin.
"AS YOU ALL KNOW, HEARTHOME CITY IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE CITY WHERE HEARTS MEET, AND THAT ALSO IMPLIES TO POKEMON! WITH THIS TAG BATTLE THAT IS THE GOAL TO BRING POKEMON AND TRAINERS CLOSER TOGETHER! SO FOR THE NEXT THREE DAYS, THIS STADIUM WILL BURN WITH THAT FLAME!" he held up a registration card. "NOW, I WANT YOU ALL TO CHECK YOUR NUMBER TO SEE WHO YOUR PARTNERS ARE GOING TO BE, BY A SHUFFLING OF OUR COMPUTER!" you looked down at your card.
"Number 13, my lucky number!" you grinned.
"NOW WHO TO SEE WHO IS WITH WHO!" he pressed the a red button and the numbers were all paired up.
"Number 18..." You looked around but didn't see anyone.
"Umexcuse me I'm number 18..." A boy with brown hair and brownish red eyes said.
"My name's Kai, nice to meet you." He said bowing.
"No need to be so formal, my name is Reila. Nice to meet you too!" you looked to see that Dawn got paired with a REALLY creepy nerd looking guy with a Slowking, Brock got paired with a Girl with a Wingull and Ash got paired with Paul?!
"Oh boy" you muttered.
AND NOW TRAINERS I WILL LIKE TO SHOW YOU THE PRIZE!" he held up two soothe bells, their soft chimes sounding so well soothing!
"THIS IS THE GRAND PRIZE TO THE WINNERS! YOU HAVE UNTIL THIS AFTERNOON TO TALK STRATEGY WITH YOUR PARTNERS! GOOD LUCK!" you pumped a fist into the air.
"Okay Kai! Let's do our best!" he nodded.
"Y-yeah!"
"Can I see what Pokemon you 're going to choose to battle?" he nodded his head and threw a Pokeball into the air.
"Go! Bull!" out of the Pokeball came a Granbull.
"Wow, your Granbull looks really well raised Kai." He blushed and rubbed the back of his head.
"T-thank you Reila. So what about you?" you grinned and summoned your Empoleon.
"He's been itching to battle, right buddy?"
"Em! Empoleon!" you looked over to Feraligatr.
"Feraligatr, would you mind staying with Ash until his turn is up?"
"Garrr!" he nodded.
"Great!" Kai gave you a confused look.
"Can't your Feraligatr go inside it's Pokeball?"
"Nope, never figured out why though"
******
"WELCOME BACK TRAINERS! I HOPE YOU ALL ARE READY FOR ROUND ONE!!" the audience cheered, the first match up appeared on the board. It was Dawn and her partner Conway against a girl with brown hair, and a very muscular man in a shredded up jean vest and pants.
"This should get interesting, what do you think Kai?"
"Well, that Slowking keeps using it's defensive moves to cover Piplub while it attacks. So I say they'll win, besides look at that teamwork!" you blinked.
"That was a sudden change in attitude"
"H-huh? What do you mean?"
"You were all shy one moment than all confident the next." He smiled.
"It's just that I love Pokemon so much! My dream is to work with Professor Oak one day, so I'm going to learn as much as I can."
"What a wonderful goal." You smiled. "You'll reach it one day Kai, I know it."
"Thanks," he turned his head to the battle. "And it looks like my hunch was right, they both won."
"Awesome job Dawn!!" you yelled scaring him. "Kai, I'm going to go congratulate them okay?" be fore he could respond you ran off and glomped Dawn as soon as you saw her.
"Reila! Where did you come from?!" she yelled as you got off her. You tilted your head.
"Um, my mom I guess." You said seriously while everyone laughed. "What's so funny?" you muttered looking back and forth between everyone.
"So Reila, what block are you in?" Brock asked you.
"Block D! if we go up against each other I won't be holding back!" they all nodded they're heads once.
"Hey Paul, we should work together to- Ahh!" he got cut off with Chimchar's flame thrower. "What was that for?!" he yelled.
"Why dont' you give your suggestions to Chimchar." Paul said.
"Chimchar? Whoa, that flame thrower is getting really strong!"
"Chim!"
"A weak fire from a weak flame, even though you have no control over it." Chimchar looked down ashamed, you picked him up and hugged him.
"I thought you did great Chimchar, but you're aiming does need a little work. A few more inches and you might have burned Ash's face off!" you laughed.
"Maybe we can help." Ash said walking up to you.
"We don't need your help."
"This is a tag battle, that means we have to work together to win!" Paul turned away.
"It's all about you isn't it."
"What did you say?!"
"STOP ARGUING!" you yelled. All eyes were on you. "Uhh, please?" you said with a nervous laugh.
"Reila has a point, instead of the two of you fighting each other, why don't you focus on working together?" Dawn said. "Both trainers have to work together with their Pokemon in a tag battle, that is what Cynthia said.
""When every life meets another life, something will be born." Chimchar let's go, now." He said turning away. Chimchar sprang out of your arms and followed.
"Hey, how do you know my cousin?" you said looking at Dawn.
"What? Your cousin?" Ash said confused.
"Yeah, Cynthia is my cousin from the Sinnoh region."
"Well what are the odds of that? Paul battled her recently, but lost." Dawn said.
"They don't call her the champ for nothing!" you laughed.
"NOW FOR THE SECOND ROUND OF C VS D! BATTLERS TAKE YOUR POSITIONS!"
"Oh that's us! See you later guys!" you said heading for Kai.
"Are you ready Reila?" you nodded.
"Oh yeah!" heading out for the ring your opponents were two girls, one in overalls and an orange hat, and a another girl in a blue button up dress.
"AND BEGIN!" the girl in the overalls summoned a Quagsire while the one in the blue summoned a Arcanine.
"Go Empoleon!"
"Go Granbull!" you nodded over to Kai.
"Empoleon use rain dance!"
"AND EMPOLEON STARTS THINGS OFF WITH A RAIN DANCE BUT WILL IT DO ANY GOOD AGAINST QUAGSIRE'S WATER ABSORB?!" and right when he said that Quagsire absorbed the water, not doing any damage. Its trainer smirked.
"Nice try, Quagsire use Slam!"
"And Arcanine use fire blast!"
"Quick Granbull use Thunder!" the clouds darkened and a bolt of lightning came down from the sky.
"WOW! A BRILLIANT MOVE! EMPOLEON'S RAIN DANCE SOAKED ARCANINE AND QUAGSIRE, MAKING THE THUNDER CAUSE EXTRA DAMAGE!" But they still weren't down for the count.
"Empoleon finish it off using metal claw on Quagsire!"
"Granbull use Giga impact on Arcanine!" Empoleon rushed Quagsire, it's claws growing longer and Granbull started glowing, rushing Arcanine. Both attacks hit dead on, causing them to faint.
"Arcanine and Quagsire are no longer able to battle! Block d wins!" the referee said holding the flag up.
"AND THERE YOU HAVE IT FOLKS! NOW ON TO THE NEXT ROUND!"
"We did it Kai!" you said jumping up and hugging him, not noticing his face turning a bright shade of red. (Out of embarrassment)
"Y-yes, we did!" you released him.
"Let's do our best in the next round okay?"
"Yeah!" walking over to Ash and the rest you held up a peace sign.
"You'll be seeing us in the next round!"
"That was a great battle you two!" Dawn said, out of the corner of your eye you saw Kai blush. (Me: *Whistles* what?)
"Yeah! I hope we get to battle soon!" Ash said.
"Well since you two are partners, I guess I'll be fulfilling two promises."
~Fast forwarding to end~
(Me: Damn laziness! Well, if you don't know Brock, and his partner won, and Ash and Paul won too. Continuing!)
You were sitting up in a tree just gazing up at the stars.
"Ah this is so relaxing!" Kai and you were training all day and just parted ways until tomorrow. "Man I'm beat!" Feraligatr was leaning against the trunk snoozing. All of a sudden you were knocked out of the tree by a flame thrower.
"Owpainow" you rubbed your butt and looked over to Feraligatr who was still sleeping. "Could sleep through an earthquake!" you muttered and looked over to where it was coming from, it was Paul and his Pokemon, and it looked like they were all ganging up on Chimchar for training. He didn't spot you yet because you landed behind some bushes. You were about to walk out, but Ash showed up. But Paul ignored him.
"Chimchar flame thrower." But instead of it hitting it's mark it hit Ash dead on, right in the chest. But thankfully he was alright.
"You just keep getting stronger and stronger!" Ash said. Chimchar smiled.
"We're not done Chimchar," Paul said. Chimchar gave Ash a sad look then walked over to him.
"What are you doing Paul?! Why are you always putting him through such intense training?" he yelled. You saw Dawn come up behind him, but he didn't notice.
"That's none of your business." He replied.
"Yeah, it is, Paul we're a tag team!"
"And your point is?"
"Why did you even enter this thing in the first place?"
"It's a good chance for my Pokemon to get some real battling."
"What does that mean?!" Dawn said cutting in. "That's being a little rude to the other trainers and Pokemon."
"Hn, I needed Chimchar to get struck by that surf in our match today, get it?
"But what if Chimchar didn't win?" Ash asked.
"Then he would be useless."
"If you want to make Chimchar stronger, you have to start by improving it's strong points first." Ash said.
"Please, improving a Pokemon's strong points is like babying a spoiled brat. And a complete waste of my time." You looked down at the leaves,
"Too similar"
"So you treat your other Pokemon this way too?" Dawn continued.
"No, this is what Chimchar wants." Chimchar nodded his head.
"There are other ways to get strong Chimchar." Ash said
"Don't listen to them Chimchar, come on." Paul said walking away. With one last look at Ash and Dawn, Chimchar followed. A few yards away Paul continued Chimchar's training.
When Chimchar got hit directly with a sky attack, Paul told Elekid to wake him up with thunder, but was blocked my Pikachu's volt tackle.
"That's enough!" Ash said picking Chimchar up, "We're taking Chimchar to the Pokemon center, got it?" Paul turned his head.
"Be my guest." When Ash and Dawn left you woke Feraligatr up and walked out of the bushes, catching Paul's attention after returning all of his other Pokemon. You sighed.
"But not in that way" you muttered. You shook your head. "They did have a point Paul, you could at least heal Chimchar"
"If he can't handle a simple training exercise, why should I care?" he shrugged. You looked down at the ground.
"I see"
"What about you?" you lifted your head up to look at him.
"What about me?"
"This morning, are you feeling better?"
"Oh, yeah, the fresh air really helped." You put a hand on your shoulder. "Everything is a-ok! They'll be waiting at the center, we should go." He shoved his hands in his pockets and walked on ahead, you quickly catching up to him.
"That battle must have took a lot out of me" you yawned.
"How does a battle make you tired?" you were silent for awhile.
"I'mdifferent, you know, than most trainers." All of a sudden Feraligatr hoisted you onto his shoulder. "Thanks buddy, but aren't you tired?" he shook his head. You leaned your head on Feraligatr's, your eyes drooping, then the last thing you saw was the light coming off the Pokemon center.
In your dream, you saw Chimchar being chased by a hoard of Zangoose to a cliff side, but you also saw Paul with his Elekid following them. Chimchar was cornered but Chimchar's flame grew bigger and he used his flame wheel to singe a giant spiral into the ground, scaring off the Zangoose. Chimchar was panting when Paul walked up to him.
"Come with me." He said before capturing him.
