-17- But I'm Part Uchiha Too [A Leiko Hyuuga Story]

"Where were you guys?!" That question struck me just as I stepped through the gates of Konoha. I gazed at Neji and Hinata, their expressions twisted into a sly worried emotion. "Be glad that I got Sasuke, okay?" I muttered, the Uchiha stepping up beside me. "We need to get you to the hospital," Neji muttered. My face fell to a frown. I wasn't frowning for the fact that I had to go to the hospital. But something else. Something terrible. Something I knew would happen to me sooner or later. It wasn't going to end...
The whole village screamed with rage as fire lit the stands and houses of the Fire Village. "ATTACK!" I heard a voice commanded. My head whipped around to the people fleeing for their lives. Naruto and the others hurried to my side, Kakashi and Gai infront of us. "Stay back, and don't move." Kakashi ordered, pulling his headband up to show his other sharingan. What was happening?!
Frowning slightly, everyone seemed to get in position around me, Sasuke and Neji at both of my sides. "What's going on?!" Tsunade yelled, coming into the scene. "The Akatsuki are attacking!" Gai shouted over the roars of fire. Akatsuki? NANI?! "NO!" Sasuke shouted loudly. Naruto and Sakura blinked at him confusingly. "The Akatsuki?" The 5th Hokage froze at the sound of that word. "No... way," she gritted her teeth together and began screaming commands.
Suddenly, through the fierce flames, two men in black cloaks stepped through the villager's running path. Everybody around me got in a fighting position, like they were protecting me. "Stay back, Leiko, and don't say a word," Neji hissed from the corner of his mouth. "But wh--" I started, yet Sasuke cut me off. "Just shut up," he growled slightly. I frowned and glanced around at the two guys.
Who were they? What did they have business here? Are they what people feared and called the Akatsuki? The two men arrived a few meters from us, Naruto shifting behind me. "We're not here for fighting," one spoke immediately. "We are here to talk to the one who is both Uchiha and Hyuuga." the other one finished. I gasped silently. "What do you want?" Gai asked. "To merely speak to the one whom we requested," the second one replied.
"Too bad!" Sasuke shouted before anyone could reply. "Silent, foolish little brother," the first one creased. "Itachi," he hissed, a kunai flashing into his hands. The first cloaked figure held out one hand in motion to stop Sasuke from attacking. "We are not here to fight and Sasuke, it's not the right time," Itachi said cooly. "N-Nani?" "You heard him," the second one growled, gazing over us. "Now which one of you is the one we're looking for?"
I gulped. "He's not here," Kakashi lied. I noticed he said 'he,' so that means... they were protecting me. And all this time... they knew, everyone knew, Naruto knew, Sasuke knew, Neji knew... Hinata knew, and I didn't. Everyone knew but me. Why? Why wasn't I informed of this? Was it because they didn't want me to worry? And now the Akatsuki wants to talk to me?! That's not bad... right? Wrong.
