I'd had my eyes shut tight with fear when the floating sensation running through me ceased to exist, but there was still an odd feeling itching at my skin. Two hands gripped my shoulders tightly, in case I though it a good idea to take off, not that I would make it far seeing as to how I'd seen them run before and I didn't stand a chance.
The two hands steered me forwards and I finally managed to pry my eyes open. What I saw wasn't particularly expected, but slightly creepy.
We were walking along a dirt pathway surrounded by tall green trees and 1600's style buildings that I hadn't ever seen in real life. People in elegant clothing rode in carriages or walked alongside the path, which is precisely what we were doing. They all had solemn expressions on and, truthfully, looked like the living dead.
I bit my lip as a large black castle-like building came into view, towers shooting from every side. The windows were dark and dirty after what seemed like years and years of sitting in musty air without being cleaned.
One of the guys nudged me forward with his should and I realized that I had come to a complete halt while staring mesmerized at the dark and mysterious building. I took in a deep breath and let myself be lead forward again until we reached tall black gates with intricate designs.
A man in a black suit with a black mask over his face, nodded at the two guys and pushed the latch on the black gate open, giving us just enough room for three people to get through.
The walkway from here on was a black cobble stone with dead grass spitting out in between random places. The path led up to the what I assumed was the front door of the castle. It was a large black door with a plain metal knocker placed in the middle.
Neither of the guys bothered to knock, they simply opened the door and shoved me inside. They finally let go of my shoulders, probably assuming I wouldn't dare run off in a house this big. After all, I'd never been especially brilliant with directions.
"Wait here with her, James." The guy who's name I remembered as Dorcey ordered before heading down the hall. James leaned against the door blocking any way of me to get out.
"May I ask why exactly I am here?" I asked, shifting my eyes from him to a painting full of abstract colors. I'm not sure why, but I'd always had a phobia of looking people in the eyes.
"No." He simply said, not moving a muscle.
"You're talkative." I commented as I let a sigh escape my mouth. He shook his head but said nothing more. The sound of a door being slammed shut brought my attention to the hallway, just as two figures, one that I recognized as Dorcey, came walking down.
The one that I hadn't yet met, nor did I want to meet him, had shaggy dark hair that wasn't quite black and dark eyes that I couldn't even begin to describe. Someone would have to create and name a totally new color in order to describe them.
The guy surveyed me for a moment before turning back to Dorcey.
"Has Rhyder been taken care of?" He asked, his voice smooth and deep.
"Yes. Darko has taken him into custody." Dorcey answered, his voice slightly more gruff.
"Good. What about the rest of the family?"
"They weren't home. James and I are going back to the house tonight. We don't want them to be home long enough to call enforcements." Dorcey answered and the guy nodded.
"Put the girl in the holding cell. I'm going to the fugitive prison to pick Rhyder up. I don't know when he's going to get it through his head that Every. Single. Time. He messes with me, someone he loves," His eyes wanders towards me as a grin spread across his face, "Dies."
"Yes sir." Docrey muttered before turning towards me.
He took me by the shoulder and brought my hand up to his level. He placed two fingers on my wrist and muttered something that I couldn't make out. A shot of pain shot through my wrist as I let out a soft whimper. He let my wrist drop and it became numb.
"What did you do?" I mumbled as I held my hand up with my other hand.
"I marked it." He said, blankly before steering me down the hall that he had just come from himself. I gave him a blank glare.
"What do you mean you marked it?" I asked.
"I mean exactly what I said. If you miraculously seem to be able to get away, we'll be able to track you." He said simply.
"Really? I mean mostly everyone is able to touch someones wrist, automatically putting some tracking device inside their body." I said sarcastically, "But seriously, what did you do to me?"
He briefly looked at me before pushing a door to the left open. A long dark hall that smelled like death stretched out before us and I froze, my breath becoming ragged.
I would have asked where it led but, truthfully, I didn't really want to know. He growled and pushed me forward with the palm of his hand. I nearly slipped on a puddle of an unknown liquid, but Dorcey hoisted me up again.
"Are you always this clumsy?" He asked. I turned and shot him a glare but I was positive he couldn't see it due to the insane lack of light.
"No. Just when I'm being kidnapped by thee insane men who like to put 'trackers' inside of me by putting their finger on my wrist." I answered.
"Good. I could see how it might get annoying. Get in." He ordered as he pushed open the metal bars on a creaky cell that I could hardly see into. However, I could see the soft outline of a bed and a window, other then that, the cell was completely bare.
"I think I'll pass." I mumbled, taking a step back. Dorcey let out a fake laugh before shoving me forward into the darkness of the cell.
I turned towards the cell door and took hold of the metal bar, but Dorcey had already slammed it shut, locking me away in the darkness.
Alone. Completely alone.
Now all I could do was wait. For anyone.
