By the time History rolled around, I was seriously shaking with nervousness about lunch.
Where was I going to eat?!
"Hey, you ok?" Alice asked quietly as she walked in and sat down in her seat next to me.
I nodded and opened my neatly organized notebook, ready to take notes on World War II.
"I'm fine." I muttered, frowning slightly.
Alice shrugged and opened her messy notebook, exactly the opposite of mine, and shuffled some loose papers about.
"I know this would mess up your schedule and everything, but Tom and I are going to dinner tonight..." Alice trailed off, looking worriedly at me.
"Oh, fuck!" I growled, throwing my pen down in anger.
It flew off my desk and landed on the floor under someone's feet.
Yet another part of my day ruined! What kind of bad luck did I run into?
"Sorry, Codi." My best friend said softly.
I shook my head.
"It's ok. Don't worry about it." Alice and I were planning on watching the Law and Order SVU marathon tonight at her house, but now I guessed I would have to watch it alone at my place; that is, if my mom's meeting has finished by then...
"Hey, is this your pen?" Someone asked me.
I looked up and my eyes met with a pair of light brown ones, which belonged to the body of the guy who sat in front of me.
He held out my pen that I had thrown down only moments before, and smiled softly at me.
"Oh yeah, thanks." I said politely, taking it back and giving him a small smile.
What was his name?
Alice seemed to have lost interest in what was going on, seeing as she got out a pink highlighter and was drawing Tom's name all over her messy notes.
I sighed and studied the back of the guy's head, noticing his longish black hair was quite messy, while our teacher began class.
"Today, I would like you to work in groups of two and come up with ideas as to how and why so many countries got involved in the war..." Mr. Peeler said loudly, coughing a bit.
Alice immediately grabbed my arm, but unfortunately was spotted by our teacher.
"Not so fast, Miss White. I will be picking your partners today."
I groaned loudly along with Alice while Mr. Peeler grinned widely at us.
What a weirdo.
He began to call out names and I felt the palms of my hands get a little sweaty in anticipation.
I never liked working with someone I didn't know, and Alice was the only person in my history class I knew.
"Alice White will be working with William Beckett..." Alice smiled at me after making a noise like a squeal.
"He's Tom's friend!" She whispered excitedly before getting up and walking towards a smiling, tall and thin boy with long brown hair.
"Mike Carden and Codi Young will be working together..."
I flinched as I heard my name.
Who was Mike Carden?
I didn't even notice the boy in front of me with the light brown eyes turning around to face me; I was too busy wondering if I would ever get through this day.
:) thanks for the feedback, buddies :P
