"You're a good singer." I complimented Gerard. It wasn't some flirtatious compliment either. He really was good. He set me down on bench with my cookie and Mikey sat next to me. He looked at each of us, then sat on Mikey. Mikey pretended to die under the weight.
"Gerard.... you're killing me! Get your fat ass off!" he yelped, straining his voice in parts to make his story seem possible. Gerard pulled a hurt face.
"I'm not fat." He said, looking down at his shoes and getting off. He sat down next to me, and looked really depressed. Mikey just carried on sipping his coffee as though he had done nothing wrong. Then Mikey's cell went off. He put his coffee carefully on the bench and pulled it out of his pocket.
"Hi... oh hey!.... What, now?... But I have coffee!.... Yes, I do... Fair point... You promise?... okay then... yeah.... erm... love you too. Bye!" he said. He turned to me and Gerard.
"Can I leave you guys to amuse yourselves? I have to meet someone." He said, as he got up and started walking off. Then he noticed he left his coffee and ran back for it. Then he walked off again. Gerard looked up at me with sad-ish eyes.
"I'm not fat am I Frankie?" he asked. He honestly looked like he was about to burst into tears.
"Of course not Gee! What makes you think that?" I said, slightly worried at how it could affect him so.
"Well, everyone says it, and now Mikey does too." He said.
"You're not fat at all Gee! And even if you were I wouldn't care. It's your personality thats amazing, and thats why I love you, imperfections and all!" I said. I was getting kind of mad and agitated; I forgot what I was saying.
"You love me?" he asked. He still sounded upset, but he did look at me.
"Well yeah." I said simply and casually. Maybe he would just think it was friendly, in a way.
"I love you too Frankie." he said, and hugged me. We were still sitting down, so it probably looked like two lovers hugging or something. But oh well. He buried his head in my shoulder and I suddenly realised something. Gerard wasn't just some piece of ass. He was a sweet and caring yet slightly sensitive regular guy, who sometimes hides behind a hard, don't-give-a-shit attitude. And he just wanted to be liked. Or at least, that was the conclusion I had come to. And it made me love him more than ever. I wrapped my arms around him protectively, as he had just started to cry.
"Why are you crying?" I asked him after a while. He looked up, with tear-filled eyes and shrugged.
"I don't know. I just feel weird, you know?" he said, and I wiped one of his tears.
"Yeah. Now come on, stop crying. For me?" I said, fluttering my eyelashes. He nodded and sat up, but still kept his arm around me. We sat there for at least an hour, until the wind started picking up, and it got really cold. Neither of us was actually bothered by that, but some random hobo started to edge closer to us, so we set off to hang at my house until we went to the movies.

"... and thats how I ended up with a guitar called Pansy." I said, completing my story. Gerard looked genuinely fascinated.
"Cool! We should start a band sometime you know. I've always wanted to be in one, and Mikey does too. He's saving up for a bass." He said. I nodded and opened the door. I let Gerard in, then put my keys on the side table and kicked my shoes off. Gerard mimicked my action and he followed me to the kitchen. My Mom was in there singing quietly to herself and making some form of sandwich.
"Hey Mom" I said, interrupting her from her dream world.
"Oh hey Frankie. Ooh, is that Gerard again? Nice to see you." She said, smiling at him.
"Hey Jade. How are you?" he said politely.
"I'm just fine Gerard. And yourself?" she replied.
"I'm good. Thanks to Frank I am anyway." He said smiling at me subtly.
"Oh that's very nice to know. Hes very sweet at times." She said, a beam forming on her face.
"Yeah I know. I think we better stop talking about him before he gets embarrassed that his Mom is talking about him with his best friends brother." He said jokingly, but I was thankful he was changing the subject.
"Yes, I think you're right." She giggled. "What you two doing here anyway? I would've thought youd be out vandalising parks or something." She joked, although Im not sure if it was a joke.
"Well we were, but this scary tramp kept getting closer to us, so we ran." I explained. She nodded knowingly.
"Well, as much as I'd love to stay and chat, I do have to get back to work. I just came back for a sandwich really. I don't know how you'll entertain yourselves, but I'm sure you'll find something. Bye now Gerard, bye sweetie." She said and kissed my forehead and left.
"Mom?" I called after her.
"What?" she shouted back, coming back into the kitchen.
"You forgot your sandwich." I said, handing it to her. He giggled and took a bite out of it.
"Thanks sweetie. Have a nice day. Nice to see you again Gerard." She said as she left.
"I'm sure I've said it before, but I really like your Mom. Does she know that you're.... you know?" he asked.
"You mean does she know I'm gay?" I asked. He nodded. "Yeah she does. Its funny sometimes. We talk about hot guys together every now and then." I said. "What about your Mom?" I asked curiously. He sighed.
"She thinks its just a phase. It's not her religion or anything; she just doesn't seem to understand it. My Dad isn't that cool about it." He said, leaning against one of the kitchen surfaces.
"Well, I don't see my Dad. I'm quite pleased about that too. But hes paying for me to go to private school, so I have to go to that dumb Catholic school coz its the only one nearby. Believe me, my Mom would rather me go to a state school as well, but schooling is the only thing my Dad keeps tabs on." I said sighing. Gerard shifted positions so he was directly facing me.
"Have you got a boyfriend?" he asked. His hair fell over his eyes as he said it, as though he was just trying to catch me off guard.
"No. Why do you ask?" I said casually.
"No reason. The movie is at 5 by the way. What d'you want to do until then?" he asked. I shrugged and there was an awkward silence.
"Can I smoke?" he asked politely, pulling one out. I shrugged and he lit it up. He dragged deeply, and I must've been staring.
"I'm sorry, is this bothering you?" he asked.
"No! I've just never had one before." I said sheepishly.
"Oh! Well, want to try? I would offer you a brand new one, but this is my last one." He said apologetically handing it to me. I looked warily at him. He laughed slightly and came over.
"Right, you put it in your mouth, you breathe in, but not too much if it's your first time, and breathe it out." He said, showing me as he explained it, and blew the smoke in my face, almost seductively if you could describe it that way. I took it off him and did it like he said, except I coughed a little when I breathed out. He laughed and took it off me again and took a drag, then handed it back. The second time I didn't cough at all. The cigarette was dirty and un-clean, but I didnt actually mind the taste, and it was kind of addictive. Eventually, after we'd finished the cigarette, he stubbed it out on the ash tray. We only have one because my granddad and my uncle who both come round every now and both smoke. It was still only about 2 o clock. So we went into the living room and started watching some film about vampires. There were some porn bits in it too, so that provided us with some giggles. About half-way through I suddenly trembled and felt really cold.
"Jesus! Are you cold Gerard?" I asked, rubbing my hands together to try and get some warmth. He looked at me concerned.
"No, I'm kind of hot actually." He said. 'Too right you are.' I thought, but I wasn't in the mood for silently flirting. I really was cold.
"Maybe you should go Gerard. I could have caught a mysterious disease off of that tramp or something." I said. Okay, now I was starting to worry myself.
"No its fine! And call me Gee. It's less syllables." He said.
"I thought only your friends called you that." I said. He smiled.
"You are my friend. Coz if you weren't I wouldnt give you this." He took off his hoodie and threw it over to me. We were on opposite ends of the sofa by the way.
"Hey! I cant take it off of you! What if you get cold, dumb-ass?" I said, throwing it back at him.
"Why can't you take it?" he asked throwing it back.
"Coz I'm the host and its my job to keep you alive while you're at my house." I explained, throwing it back at him again.
"Well..." he was thinking. "If you won't take it, then you'll have to come over here." He said.
"Why?" I asked him.
"Just get over here before I call the people's bad host authorities!" he said. I rolled my eyes and crawled over to his end of the sofa. He pulled me close to him, so I was on his lap and wrapped the hoodie over both of us and we snuggled up together.
"Frankie?" he said after a while.
"What?" I asked.
There was a silence.
"Nothing." He replied, putting his arms around my waist. Well that was strange, I thought, but I snuggled into him again and enjoyed the rest of this vampire porno film.
