Chapter 19 : A Vampire Saved My Life! GREAT! - But at what cost? ~19~
Number 19!
the two of you have visitors done stairs. They say that their Natasha's parents. Matic frowned. Natasha did too. Why were her parents here?
Matic held her hand as the walked down the hall. She was surprisingly scared to see her parents again. She didn't want them to take her away from him, and she had a sickening feeling that’s what they were here to do. As she walked down the stairs to the entranceway she saw a woman that looked like her mother, but she was draped in finery beyond what they could ever even hope to pay for.
"Mom?" The woman turned to her a large smile plaster across her face.
"Natasha! Oh darling we were so worried about you!" A man in an expensive suite turned around to face her, it was her father. Her mother gripped her in a hug, and then her father, both awkwardly done.
"What are you doing here?" Natasha asked frowning.
"We missed you! We wanted to see you! Cant a mother and father come visit her children?" Her voice was trying too hard to be innocent, Natasha didn't by it.
"Yes Natasha, we just missed you." Her father spoke, smiling.
"You look well Natasha, happy?" Her mother asked, grabbing the hand that wasn't holding Matic's.
"Yes."
"Oh wonderful!" Her smile was so fake Natasha almost wanted to laugh.
"Mom, what are you wearing?" Her mother smiled even wider.
"You like it?" She twirled around, showing off her dress. "Oh, look! Look!" She came suddenly closer, showing her the diamond necklace hanging from her neck and ears.
"Mom! How did you pay for that? And dad the suite? Where did you get the money to pay for it?"
"Well it came from the money master Matic gave us."
"Which wasn't even close to being enough!" Her father spoke up, his voice suddenly ringing of that greed she knew so well. Her mother looked at her father and glared then looked back at her and smiled, then looked at Matic as well.
"Well that is part of the reason why we came…"
"You want more money." Matic spoke, the first words sinse coming down the stairs.
"Well yes." Her mother shrunk away at the look her gave her.
"Yes! We want more!" Her father bellowed, stepping forward.
"I wasn’t generious enough the first time?"
"A million dollars cant pay for our daughter, she's priceless." Her mother spoke up.
"A MILLION DOLLARS!" Natasha yelled, looking at Matic with wide eyes, he didn't comment, or look at her, his eyes cold, looking at her father. And instead of answering her he simply said.
"How much?"
"Well… nothing can replace a daughter…" Her father stumbled over his words, suddenly aware that Natasha was still in the room.
"How much?" His words harder, angrier.
"An other million."
"WHAT! NO!" Natasha yelled out, moving her hand out of Matic's suddenly tense hand. "No! He wont pay that! He's paid enough. Now get out!"
"Natasha, darling…" Her mother tried to take her hand up in her's, Natasha whipped it out of her grasp.
"No, the two of you sicken me."
"If he doesn't pay, you're coming home with us!" Her father bellowed, suddenly grabbing her arm almost painfully. It all happened so fast after that, all she heard was a low growl and the next thing she knew Matic's hand was wrapped around her fathers chubby throat, her father hand ripped from her arm.
"Matic…" Her hand carefully touched his muscled tense arm, he turned to her, his eyes instantly turning from black to blue. "Let him go, their not taking me any where." Matic looked back at her father and released him with an other low growl.
"You ever touch her again and I will kill you." He said quickly and darkly as he took Natasha's hand up in his, gently and tenderly. Starting to just walk away.
"You cant take her! She's our daughter!" Her mother yelled out after them. Natasha stopped and turned back toward her. Then giving Matic a reassuring smile turned on her mother.
"You were never anything to be but a person I had to take care of. Mother. I am anything but a daughter to you, perhaps a personal slave is the better word to use. But I'm free now, I don’t belong to you. I belong to the man you sold me to. Matic. And I'm going to marry him. Thankfully for me, something good finally came out of your mistakes, I fell in love. And I'm going to marry him, with out parents. Because you certainly aren’t anything close to even be deserving of the title parents. I cant believe he gave you a million dollars for me, and you accepted it! And not only that, you came here and had the gull to call me your daughter and ask for more money! You make me sick. And I'm glad I'm the only one that was fathered by the two of you. Now your going to turn around and walk out of that door, and my life, and never come back." Her mother opened her mouth to speak. "NOW!" The two people quickly walked toward the door, not one looked back as they walked away. Once the door closed Natasha drew in a shaky breath while closing her eyes and tilting her head up to the ceiling. She felt Matic's arms wrap around her middle from behind, he held her close.
"Are you okay?" He whispered.
"Yea. I'm fine."
"I love you." Smiled and turned in his arms.
"I love you too." She leaned her head against his hard chest.
"I know that was a really hard thing for you to do."
"It need to be done… I cant believe you paid then a million dollars for me!" He smiled down at her.
"I got a good price. I think I paid too little." He kissed the top of her forehead.
"Don’t let my dad hear you say that. He'll take you for every penny your worth."
"Not any more… they're gone." She looked up at him and gave a sad smile.
"I just wished for once in their life they could have just been parents, and supported me." He hugged her tighter.
"I know…" She wrapped her arms around him, and let him comfort her. She heard the small chuckle go through him.
"What?"
"I know that you just had a huge thing happen, but when you were yelling at them, I couldn't help see how sexy you are when your mad." She smiled.
"Well you wont see me like that very often. Usually I cry when I get angry. I'm surprised I didn't."
"Hum… Still… you were really sexy." She smiled up at him, and put on a fake angry face. "Well you better not ever make me angry before our wedding or we might just end up in a disposition that could be hard to cover up."
"And what would that be?"
"A little too sweaty and happy on that big bed up stairs."
"Hum… that sounds really good, but I'm already having a hard time restraining from doing that, so you really, really should get angry."
"Oh I should?" She tossed her hair off her shoulders.
"Yes, I need to some relief here."
"And who's to say I don’t?"
"I never said you didn't." She smiled, then with out her consent yond. "Your tired."
"No, no I'm not." She said through the yon. He laughed and then suddenly bent and scooped her up in his arms. She squealed.
"What are you doing!"
"Taking you to that big bed up stairs." He said seductively.
"Matic! We can't!" He laughed. "Put me down!" She squirmed against his hard muscles.
"Natasha, your so light I could carry you for days and not get tired. You on the other hand already are. I'm just taking you to the bed to sleep." She looked up at him, watching his expression. "Just sleep. Even if the alternative is much more appealing." She smiled and blushed, looking away from him, as her right leg slightly swung from side to side. He contracted his left arm under her back and pulled her closed to him, he kissed the side of her head, taking in her addictive scent once again. "I can't wait till our wedding night." She smiled then looked up at him.
"When is it?"
"What?"
"Our wedding?"
"Well, after the coronation… and before my father abdicates his rule fully."
"Your father is a vampire?"
"Yes."
"And he lives forever?"
"In the most respect, yes."
"So, why is he abdicating the thrown down to you?"
"The vampiric society doesn't want him, and has made it known. So instead of risking his life on the thrown, he's going to give it up to live."
"Huh… and how do you know the vampiric society will accept you?" She asked as he started to walk down the hall.
"Well my clan is a very accepted clan, my mother was very respected. And also by joining together, they get more power, they compromise my younger leadership for more power amongst the two clans."
"Huh."
"Makes sense?"
"Yes, I think so. Its such a different world… you know?" He smiled.
"No, I really don’t. This is what I was born in to, I don’t know anything else." He turned his back to the door and it swung open to let the two of them in. He walked over to the bed and placed her gently down. She stayed silent, trying to imagine what his life was like.
"Matic, how old are you?" He smiled as he laid down beside her.
"Why do you want to know?"
"Just because… how do vampires age?"
"Very slowly."
"So how old are you?"
"Almost eight hundred years."
"Eight hundred!"
"And I'm young, compared to others."
"Wow." She looked away from him over whelmed. How many things would he have seen, how many woman thrown them selves at him, how many he accepted. Natasha bit her bottom lip, thinking. Several minuets passed as the two of them just laid there.
"What is it?"
"Huh?" She looked over at him, he was on his back, eyes closed.
"What's bothering you?"
"How do you know I'm bothered, your not even looking at me."
"I dont have to look at you to tell when your bothered by something, so what is it?"
"Well… before me… how many girls have you… you know." His eyes slid open and he turned on his side toward her.
"How many girls have I what?"
"Well… loved."
"None." The word was so simple, to easy off of his lips.
"None? Not one in eight hundred years?" He smiled, leaning his head on his hand, watching the surprise cross of her features.
"There are women that have had my interest, but never my heart. It seems it was waiting for you." She looked up at the ceiling.
"But Matic, how do you know that I'm the one for you. I know that sounds cheesy, but I mean like in a hundred or even two hundred years, our feelings about each other could change… what happens then?" She looked over at him. "I guess what I'm trying to say is I don’t wanna loose you."
"You wont ever loose me… I know my heart belongs to you."
"But how do you know, in another couple years another could come along and she could be the one!"
"She wont be."
"But-"
"She wont be because the night you were stabbed, hurt. I was miles away, I didn't even know you existed, let alone that you were hurt! I tried to ignore the smell of your blood. I don’t know how the scent carried all that way, but it was like you were calling out to me, I've never experience anything like it before. It was like I was compelled to go, like I had to. But when I got there, and tasted your blood, it was perfect and sweet and every inch of me wanted more, but the feeling was there again, that compelling knowledge that told me to keep to you alive, to help you. So I did, I took you here, home. Then after you were stable I went back and followed your faint sent to your home. I found your father past out in his lazy boy, and your mother upstairs reading a romance novel. I approached them, and told them what had happened to you. They weren't even concerned, they didn't care about you at all. It was then that I realized I couldn't have you go back there where you wouldn't be taken care of, so I told them that I wanted you to stay with me. They instantly jumped on the money issue, saying that if I wanted you I would have to pay. So I did."
"Matic, you shouldn't have do-"
"No, I need to. I wanted to. And I haven't, and wont, ever regret my decion." He smiled and kissed her softly.
"Thank you." He smiled.
"There's nothing to thank. It was the only way to have my heart back." She smiled and he smiled with her.
"I love you."
"I love you too… now you need to sleep." She kissed him goodnight and then the turned in his arms, closed her eyes and tried to sleep.
