"Good morning!" Jason sang, rocking Brooklyn's body back and forth on the couch with his hands.
The only sounds that came from her were a few groans and mumbles.
"Wake up!" Pat sang in a high-pitched voice.
Jason's finger in her ear made her curl up into a small ball and throw the blankets over her head.
"Ew, why?" She sat up as he tried to do it again.
"I don't know; everyone hates it." He stated pushing his finger into Pat's ear.
"I can see why." She rubbed her ear as Pat cringed pulling away from Jason's finger, violently.
"We're going over to Brad's house, you can meet the rest of the girls, and Tim, you're going to love Tim." He informed her.
"Oh am I?" She asked.
"I swear, now get dressed." He demanded grabbing her hands and pulling her from the couch in one quick motion.
"Your party doesn't even start until five." Jen informed Jason.
"I know!" He whined throwing himself onto the couch like a child.
"So I don't have to get ready yet?" Brooklyn asked.
"No, you do" Pat began. "You have to keep the child entertained until then, and you take like five hours to get ready to go anywhere, so get going." He pushed her down the hallway.
Brooklyn cursed falling asleep on the couch the night previous. Her whole body felt stiff, she hoped that the hot shower would loosen up her back a little.
For most of the night, Brooklyn spent time at Derrick's side as he introduced her to people. She seen the few familiar faces every once in a while. Currently she was sitting in the kitchen with a bunch of girls she had met, that were asking her questions about herself, they seemed more than willing to befriend her. They treated her like she was one of them.
"How long are you here?" The girl that introduced herself as Andrea asked.
"Two weeks." Brooklyn smiled.
Emily opened her mouth to reply, but Jason butted in.
"Hey, can I borrow you for a minute?" He asked, looking at Brooklyn.
She glanced at him. "It's just for a minute." He promised.
"Sure." She shrugged, telling the girls she'd be back.
"What's wrong?" She asked as he pulled her by the hand to the back of the house.
Jason didn't say anything until they made it into the back yard and to the large old swing set that adorned the area directly before the woods.
"I just haven't gotten to talk to you at all since you've been here, and I want to." He informed her sitting down on one of the swings, motioning for her to do the same.
Brooklyn obeyed, sitting down and swinging gently back and forth until she finally started swinging her legs.
"Are you drunk yet?" Jason asked as they had an informal contest trying to see who could swing higher.
"No, are you?" She asked, almost having to yell.
"No, but I wish I was." He stated, and jumped off the swing as it flew out one last time. "Do it!" He demanded as Brooklyn stared at him.
"Fuck you." She frowned using her feet to slow her swing down.
Jason chuckled as he sat on the swing at he very end that had a bench on each side of it. It was a little small, but he managed to sit in it properly.
Brooklyn followed him, and climbed over his long legs to sit on the opposing side.
"How do you like it here?" Jason asked as they began swinging.
"I love it." She answered, "it's like being back in New Castle." She stated, taking in the scent of spring in the air.
"Do you miss Valrico yet?" He asked smiling.
"Not really." She shrugged as he put each of his feet on opposite sides of her seat so they'd be on the swing instead of dragging on the ground. "I miss Tyson." Brooklyn decided.
"You would miss that dumb cat." He rolled his eyes.
"Tyson isn't a cat, he's like the keeper of my apartment." She informed him, nodding.
"A real ferocious Lioness, huh?" He chuckled.
"Exactly, if he was a girl." She held back a little laugh.
The pair was quiet for a moment.
"I feel like we've been best friends since the beginning of time." Jason sighed.
"Me too." Brooklyn decided, looking around the woods and at all the scenery, she looked back at Jason he smiled lightly at her.
"What?" She smiled back, confused.
He leaned forward slowly not breaking eye contact until he closed his eyes Brooklyn could feel it coming, so she leaned closer and closed her eyes as their lips met. Jason's hand ran along her cheek until half of it was in her hair and his thumb was against her jawbone. As the kiss deepened Brooklyn's hand rested on his shoulder for a moment and slid to his neck, begging for it to not end yet. Jason gave in and left their lips connected for a few more seconds. Chills ran through Brooklyn's body and to her fingertips.
As Jason pulled away one of his hands still rested on her cheek as he leaned his forehead against hers, and stared in her eyes. It soon turned into another kiss.
"Hey guys, you just missed the cake fight." Tim stomped out; he obviously was unaware of the happenings on the swing set. Jason and Brooklyn pulled away quickly as they realized he was talking to them, the both stared at him as he walked a little faster to get to them.
The closer he got the more they could see the icing smeared through his hair on his face and all over his clothes.
"It was good cake too." He informed them licking it off his arm.
He offered it to each of them, and they both laughed shaking their heads. He just shrugged and licked the rest of it off.
"You cups are empty, why is that?" He asked noticing.
Jason shrugged looking inside it.
"We better go get some more." He shrugged jumping off the swing and waiting for Brooklyn as she stepped off. Tim went on about the food fight in the kitchen as Jason's hand brushed against Brooklyn's slowly linking their fingers, but that quickly dropped as they reached the house, Jason smiled gently at Brooklyn as they were parting, she smiled shyly back.
Brooklyn was walking on water.
I keep bleeding love.
