Chapter 8: Annoying Visitors
Half an hour after my shower, I was digging through some drawers when my door opened. I spun around with my towel clenched around me to see Baedan. "Oh, shit, um, sorry," he turned away with flushed cheeks "Khleo was wondering what you wanted for breakfast?" I clenched my towel closer. "Just tell him I'll have what everyone else is having," Baedan nodded and quickly exited the room, closing the door behind him. I sighed and continued my search through the drawers. The first one held socks and undergarments, and I quickly picked out some black socks and a matching black bra and underwear. I paused. Kind of risque isn't it? Where did they even get this stuff..? I shook my head and moved to the next drawer. Bingo. I pulled out a black t-shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans. I nodded my approval, looked around, and slipped into the bathroom again. "Hey," I jumped, almost dropping the towel as I came face-to-face with Tirant. I caught my breath. "Wh-what the hell are you doing in here?!" I shouted, pulling my towel closer to me and hiding my clothes behind my back. "Just checking in," he smirked, trying to peek behind my back. I stuck my hand out and placed it on his chest. "Five feet," I muttered darkly, and stepped around him. He held his hands up in defeat and left. "Tell Khleo I don't like everyone sneaking up on me!" I shouted over my shoulder, slamming the bathroom door after. I dressed quickly, afraid of more unwanted visitors, then fixed my hair and decided I was presentable.
I stepped outside my door and took a deep breath. Agenda for the day: Break out of here... and go where? Live the high life on the streets? I shook my head angrily at the voice of reason and stomped down the stairs to the kitchen. "Ah, there you are," Khleo flashed me a small smile. "We were beginning to wonder if you'd been eaten by the bed." he joked softly. I glared. "I would have been down here a lot faster if I hadn't had visitors all morning..." I shot my glare at Tirant and Tyberius. Baedan had just been the messenger, but Tirant and Tyberius had deliberately invaded my privacy. "Next time I want an audience for my shower, I'll ask." I growled as I sat down and dug into my plate of food. The guys stared openly at me until Khleo told them to stop and get some breakfast. "Hey, mind if I sit here?" Baedan asked, hovering over a seat at my left. I shook my head and jumped as Tyberius plopped down on my other side. I growled softly again and sped up my eating. I felt him staring at me as the others ate and I finally looked over at him, a piece of bacon hanging from my lip. He chuckled and gently took it from my mouth. I lunged and bit his finger. "Ow!" he shouted, whipping his hand back. "What the hell was that about?!" he glared at me as the others broke into laughter. Khleo glanced at me, humor sparkling in his eyes as he turned to address Tyberius. "Well, you shouldn't be taking food out of her mouth then.." he trailed off, shaking his head with the humor still in his eyes. Tyberius was fuming, and I glanced over at his red cheeks. "Khleo's right," I mumbled so only he could hear, "you should leave me alone." He stiffened, then leaned over to me, his mouth hovering against my ear. "Never," he whispered, his breath sending goosebumps down my spine. I blushed and stood up, mumbling something inaudible about using the bathroom, then charged up the stairs.
"Wait!" I paused at the top of the stairs and turned. It was Tirant. "Khleo says you shouldn't be alone because of what you saw last night," he said, wary concern in his fire-red eyes. I tried to find words over my pounding heart. "And.. why is that?" He shuffled his feet and glanced towards the kitchen door. I opened my mouth to speak, but he suddenly disappeared. Wha-? There was a woosh of air and he appeared at my side. I jumped as he leaned towards me, red hair falling into his eyes where he brushed it back with irritation. "It's not safe," he whispered into my ear. "There are things in this house other than us, and you're not safe from them." he pulled away as footsteps sounded below us. "Tirant, what are you doing?" came the annoyed voice of Tyberius. He crossed his arms as Baedan and Khleo walked up behind him. Tirant scowled down at them. "I'm just keeping an eye on Saeka," he glanced at Khleo, "like you said to." I blinked, and suddenly turned to Tirant. "I can look after myself," I spat, turning sharply in anger and slamming my door. I had no more unexpected visitors after that.
