I opened my eyes to a site I'd been dreading the whole week.
Civilisation.
A mile directly to the North of me was a large village. I'd fallen asleep under the stars last night, watching the distant hustle and bustle of urban life. Two days ago I crossed over the border into the Country of Fire and had followed the main roads to find somewhere to get food - I'd run out of the supplies I'd had. The sign above the gate said 'Konoha Village.' I'll wait until dusk before going in; less people to deal with. Until then... I'll explore.
TSUNADE'S OFFICE TSUNADE'S POV
"Tsunade-sama!"
"Yes, Shizune?"
"ANBU have reported someone hiding in the forest. They've been there since yesterday evening and have been watching the village pretty closely."
"Do we have any idea who it is?" I asked the red faced woman infront of me who looked fit to combust.
"None. But ANBU would like permission to detain her."
"Her?!" I thought for a moment. Could this be a danger? "Don't do anything for now. If she tries to come IN the village then detain her and bring her in for questioning."
"Yes, Tsunade-sama." She left huffing and puffing. She runs too much.
Another possible threat to the village. I sighed heavily. Being Hokage - I never get a break.
HIMITSU'S POV
I passed under the huge gate frame with the leaf sign. The guards watched me suspiciously but never-the-less they still kept quiet - so far so good. Making my way through the maze of alleyways I searched to find an open shop. Sheesh, you'd think SOMEWHERE was open.
"What is your business here?" I heard a foreign voice say. I spun around. Stood infront of me were two people in white masks with different markings. I turned back around and tried to walk away - the last thing I want is confrontation - but there were more. Lot's more. Infact, I was completely surrounded.
KAKASHI'S POV
I'd just walked into the village, left my subordinates and was currently on my way to the Fifth's Office, when I caught sight of some ANBU shinobi. They had cornered a young girl and were closing in tight. She looked terrified... and... familiar? I stopped on a rooftop nearby to watch. Two of them closed in on her. She screamed. Then I remembered - she was the one from before! Back then she'd screamed too, "DON'T TOUCH ME!"
Right there before my eyes (well eye) an unbelievable scene was playing out. Four ANBU were on the floor and the rest were dropping fast. This girl was amazing. She was dishing out one technique after the other, only it didn't look right. It looked like she had no control. That couldn't be right, could it? One of the ANBU got close without her noticing. He grabbed her from behind. Her scream pierced through the dark night and the ANBU shinobi was thrown across the street. Her body started to collapse almost as if in slow motion. I caught her seconds before she hit the ground and watched her tear filled eyes close.

On my way to Konoha Hospital, carrying the unconcious girl wrapped in her cloak for warmth, I looked down at her as the medical team raced by to the ANBU soldiers in the alley behind me. She was beautiful. Her cheeks were flushed and damp from the rain that was now falling. A few strands of hair laid across her face and neck as her head lay against my arm. When I reached the Hospital I left her with the nurses. I wished I could have stayed and kept an eye on her but I had to report to the Fifth.
"We'll look after her till you get back, Kakashi-san," one of the nurses said, obviously sensing my reluctance. I nodded, then made my way to the Hokage's Office.
