Seriously, people, call me Alex. Unfortunately, when publishing in the school paper, we're forced to go by the horrendous first names our mothers have
Truth be told, I thrive off of gossip. The rumors, the stories, trying to find out the truth: I love it. This is what probably led to Ms. Branning's brilliant idea of putting me on the school paper. Ha, school paper? Yea, my first thoughts too, until I discovered the beauty of snooping, spying, and revealing. 'Mark Stuart and Jen Brickle: High School Sweethearts to Engaged Seniors?'. I seriously never thought that I would stumble upon my calling while trying to get out of a week's worth of detentions.
I never meant for journalism to get this big, let alone take interest in it when the choice was between writing a column or a week of detention. I never meant for people to actually start reading the school paper (that's a lie). I never meant for people to be truly hurt (hey look, another lie). And I never ever meant for my newfound passion to interfere with love lives (particularly mine). Regardless, it sure as hell shaped one junior year I'll never forget.
Ladies and gentlemen, I can assure you that this will be the story of the century.
