My knuckles whitened as I gripped the black microphone between my fingers with such force I thought my fingers would break.
oh my geez, oh my geez
My green eyes scanned the entire crowd--still screaming and grinning as if this was all part of the show. I could hear the music continue--the singing part was going to come within seconds, and here I was--standing in the middle of a stage by myself--nearly pooping my pretty little pants.
I bit my lip nervously and was about to run off stage before a certain black haired boy wonder caught my eye. His warm brown eyes were boaring into my own as he stood there, perched up against the nearest wall, smiling a small discreet smile before pointing at me. 'All for you,' He mouthed before winking.
I continued to look at him before my cue came on; I nervously brought the mic up to my lips before shutting my eyes.
'I'm having the day from hell,
it was all going so well [before you came]
And you told me you needed space,
With a kiss on the side my face [not again]
And not to mention [the tears I shed]
But I should have kicked your [ass instead]
I need intervention
Attention to stop temptation to scream
'cause baby'
I took a deep breath and decided to open my eyes for the chorus. It wasn't until I was met with the hundreds of screaming, grinning faces of fans that my nerves seemed to begin to fly away with the light breeze blowing gently throughout the venue. I began to move around the stage, trying to avoid falling over wires as I began to dance slightly with my music.
'Everything is F'ed up straight from the heart
Tell me what do you do, when it all falls apart
Gotta pick myself up where do I start
'cause I can't turn to you when it all falls apart
No'
I once again began to alternate where I stood on stage as I moved my body with the music.
'Don't know where I parked my car
Don't know who my real friends are [anymore]
I put my faith in you
What a stupid thing to do [when it rains it pours]
And not to mention [I drank too much]
I'm feeling hung over [and out of touch]
I need intervention
Attention to stop temptation to scream
'cause baby'
The chorus once again came around, as did my dancing. I knew I wasn't all too talented in that department--but judging by the looks on the fans faces they were somehow enjoying it. Another major boost in confidence on my part.
'Everything is F'ed up straight from the heart
Tell me what do you do, when it all falls apart
Gotta pick myself up where do I start
'cause I can't turn to you when it all falls apart
No'
I took a small in take of breath as I prepared myself for the slightly higher part of the song. I was grinning ear to ear by this point, occasionally glancing around at the excited looks on some of the young fans before me.
'Can it be easier?
Can I just change my life?
'cause it just seems to go bad every time
Will I be mending?
another one ending once again
'Everything is F'ed up straight from the heart
Tell me what do you do, when it all falls apart'
I grinned to myself before repeating the chorus yet again, having the instruments kick in yet again--it was exhilarating.
'Gotta pick myself up where do I start
'cause I can't turn to you when it all falls apart
'Everything is F'ed up straight from the heart
Tell me what do you do, when it all falls apart
Gotta pick myself up where do I start
'cause I can't turn to you when it all falls apart
No'
I grinned to myself as I finished the last of the song, letting the erupting sound of applause and screams fill the venue. My heart felt as if it was going a hundred thousand times a minute--but that didn't matter, nothing did at this point except for the amazing feeling that kind of experience was about to embark on the rest of my life.
'Wow, you guys...are amazing!' I screamed into the microphone, listening to the ever growing roars of screams coming from all over the venue.
I laughed before bringing the microphone back up the my lips, 'This is my first show--ever, and it's a blessing not to have a tomato thrown at me right now,'
A series of laughs were heard throughout the crowd.
'Okay but enough talking, yeah? Let's get back to what you guys came here for, the music!' I screamed into the microphone before yet another song began.
My jaw was practically gathering dust as it hung open. My eyes were wide as I watched Brooke, shy, beautiful, amazing Brooke--singing her heart out, coming out of her shell within seconds.
Her mahogany hair, which was pin straight tonight, bounced as she continued to perform her little dance moves and antiques as she practically pranced around stage, getting the crowd revved up and excited as she did do. The grin she had smitten with her think pink lips never left her face as she moved her body with the music.
'Geez Joseph, contain the drool,' Kevin muttered with a smirk on his lips.
I continued to gaze at her before peeling my eyes away just long enough to look at Kevin. 'Do you not hear her?'
Kevin furrowed his eyebrows before chuckling, 'Yeah I hear her, she's awesome--but I've heard her on TV and stuff, John showed me her demo tape a few weeks ago--she's talented,'
My eyes were bulging out of my head, 'Talented? Kev, she's amazing...'
Kevin smiled before patting my on the back before shaking his head, 'You haven't heard her until tonight?'
I shook my head slowly, still finding it incredibly hard to look away from her, 'No...I wanted to see her sing...but I wasn't expecting--this,'
I could tell Kevin was looking at me with either that smirk of his, or a confused but anxious smile. Of course, I didn't bother to look--right now, all that I needed to see was standing--or rather dancing in front of me, laughing and skipping around the stage.
Wow...
I continued to watch her before locking into her emerald eyes. Her eyes were sparkling with delight as was her smile just before the song she was singing ended within seconds.
She quickly curtained her right eye with her eyelid to send me a subtle wink before turning her attention back to the ever-cheering crowd.
I bit my lip before shaking my head, 'Kevin man...' I paused to take a small in take of breath, 'I'm falling hard...'
One more song I thought to myself as I wiped the small bit of moisture upon my brow.
'Okay guys--this will be the last song I sing tonight before THE JONAS BROTHERS come and rock this joint!' I screamed, grinning from ear to ear.
'I just want to thank you guys for being an amazing first audience I've ever had! So this song is for you, you guys are amazing!'
The electric guitar began to sound off from behind me before my body once again found its way to move to the music--my music.
'Here we are, so whatcha gonna do?
Do I gotta spell it out for you?
I can see that you got other plans for tonight
But I dont really care
Size me up you know I beat the best
Tick tock no time to rest
Let them say what they're gonna say
But tonight, I just dont really care'
I grinned and danced around the stage as the chorus erupted throughout the venue.
'Come on baby we aint gonna live forever
Let me show you all the things that we could do
You know you wanna be together
And I wanna spend the night with you
Yeah, yeah [with you]
Yeah, yeah
Come with me tonight
We could make the night last forever'
I grinned as I noticed the crowd jumping and dancing to the music, mimicking my not so great dance moves as they too moved with the music.
'Ive seen it all Ive got nothing to prove
Come on baby just make your move
Follow me let's leave it all behind tonight
Like we just dont care
Let me take you on the ride of your life
Thats what I said all right
They can say what they wanna say
Cause tonight, I just dont even care'
I watched from the corner of my eye as Joe watched my every move, smirking to himself as I danced to they very upbeat tune escaping the instruments behind me.
'Come on baby we aint gonna live forever
Let me show you all the things that we could do
You know you wanna be together
And I wanna spend the night with you
Yeah, yeah [with you]
Yeah, yeah
Come with me tonight
We could make the night last forever'
Once again, another high part was on its way before I got the crowd to clap along in a simultaneous beat.
'Let's pretend youre mine
[We could just pretend, we could just pretend, yeah yeah]
You got what I like
[You got what I like, I got what you like]
Oh come on
Just one taste and youll want more
So tell me what you're waiting for'
The guitar was quiet before the drums kicked in, the crowd continued to clap along with the beat before my voice managed to kick in just at the opportune time.
'Come on baby we aint gonna live forever
Let me show you all the things that we could do
You know you wanna be together
And I wanna spend the night with you
Yeah, yeah [with you]
Yeah, yeah
So come with me tonight
We could make the night last forever
Come on baby we aint gonna live forever
Let me show you all the things that we could do
You know you wanna be together
And I wanna spend the night with you
Yeah, yeah [with you]
Yeah, yeah
So come with me tonight
We could make the night last forever'
The music stopped just before I waved my last goodbye, 'You guys have been amazing, but here to grace your lovely presence are THE JONAS BROTHERS!'
I quickly watched as the stage crew man from earlier pointed in the direction of where I was to exit from. I nodded subtly only for Joe to rush up to me, handing me a piece of paper quickly.
My green eyes looked into his brown ones before he smiled slowly. Our moment didn't last too much longer before he had to run off and follow his brothers on stage.
The stage man, whose name was apparently Jacob, ushered me kindly off stage, congratulating me on my performance. I kindly smiled back at him before entering the back stage area only to be tackled by a grinning Frankie, 'You were great Brooke!' He yelled into my stomach.
I laughed before shaking his hair gently, 'Thanks little man,'
I was soon met by Denise and Paul, both hugging me and congratulating me. It seemed everyone was this kind enough because the next thing I knew, John, more stage crew, some back up dancers, singers, technicians and even a few fans with back stage passes mimicked their actions.
After several minutes of thanking everyone, I quickly ran to grab myself a water bottle, Joe's note still held tightly in my hand. I let the icy cold liquid flow freely down my throat in dire need before bottling it back up slowly.
I smiled to myself as I came in contact with Joe's messy scrawl on the front of the folded up piece of paper.
Brooke
My fingers managed to open up the small paper just in time for my smile to melt into one of a more appropriate, touched, genuine smile.
You were amazing,
-♥ Joe
