The rain outside Motel 6 on route 9 had been pounding on the windows since the early morning hours. This had been the seen for the Motel's blonde owner since dawn as she sat behind the desk chewing her pink wad of bubble gum.
The motel was run down to say the least and saw very few people, so it wasn't a surprise when she hadn't seen anyone around all day.
Wit a heavy sigh, Anna pulled on her gum as she leaned further onto the counter, exposing her chest more from beneath the crimson v-neck shirt she wore, this trick was one of her favourite way to pull in guests.
Just as she moved towards the door, where it held the Vacancy/No vacancy sign to switch Vacancy to the other option, closing the motel so she could sleep some, a pair of orange head lights appeared in front of her before quickly dieing out. Frozen temporarily like a deer caught in headlights, he recovered shortly and quickly made her way back behind the desk to reoccupy her former position, in hopes of making a sale.
Outside, a husky figured pulled himself from the car and into the pouring rain. He moved swiftly towards the door, as if he was gliding and appeared under the full light to Anna in mere seconds.
She surveyed his frame, her eyes tracing over every sculpted muscle that his tight black shirt would reveal. His facial features, she noticed, were dark, exhausted, mysterious, cold and very uneasy. She watched him walked towards her, though instead of the swift pace he had used in the rain, he was now moving with caution, almost as if he was hurt.
"I need a room" he said with an authoritative voice that left no room for question. His accent placed him someplace much more north than the current location, but his pronunciation of certain letters showed he spent some time in Europe recently.
She put on her best smile, "Sure thang Suga" Her thick southern accent greatly contrasting his. She pulled out a book where she kept track of everything and flipped to the last page recently used. "I'll just need your name" She added. The man's expression faltered slightly, he wanted, needed no paper trail.
He pulled out a handful of cash ready for his counter offer, "How about we forget the name" He said, placing a wade of money on the desk. Anna picked it up and quickly scanned the green currency, a thousand dollars, more than she makes in a week.
"Alright then Smith" she said cracking her gum, as he nervously glanced over his should while adjusting his jacket. As he moved, Anna caught a glimmer of metal attached to the man' hip. She swallowed and stayed calm.
Smith turned back to her and smiled with appreciation hoping that this would buy him sometime, but he doubted it. When she handed him the key, he reached out a hand which he happened to forget still had blood from his latest struggle caked on it. When he took the key, he glanced up at her to see her expression. If she noticed the blood, which she did, she never showed it.
Anna smiled again at Smith, as he turned and walked out of the motel. Again, in swift movement he darted towards the hotel door marked 7. When Smith put the key in the door knob he looked at the number, Lucky number seven, lets hope and with that he turned the knob and walked in locking the door behind him.
As Anna continued to chew her gum, another car pulled up to the Motel and two men got out this time. The two were in black jackets and slender jeans, with a gun holstered to their hips. Nervousness filled her as she recalled the blood on her newest customer's hand.
"Evening Miss" the taller gentleman said "We're with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and we need to talk to you" He added while the two of them flashed their badges.
"We believe a very dangerous man may be staying with you, and if you know anything it would be in your best interest to tell us." Said the second FBI agent said, the smile he worn seemed to be a bit cynical to her but she nodded anyway.
She listened to the two men describe the man she called Smith with expressionless look. They briefed her on the crime, one that could affect national security. The murdered of Senator Rodriquez two days ago was because of a FBI, CIA conspiracy because of the things Rodriquez was uncovering.
Because of this they needed a escape goat, and who more played the part then the temperamental Agent Green, or Smith.
Smith relaxed as he peeled the black shirt of his back. He pulled his ID out of his pocket flipped it open and read Agent William Green, Central Intelligence Agency, CIA. With a heavy sigh he looked in the mirror and saw his usually clean and smooth chest swollen with bruises and lacerations not to mention the old scars of a couple of bullets.
He tossed his ID on the bed, not wanting anything to do with the agency he spent 25 years of his life, risking his life and for what? To be stabbed in the back. He wished he was back on vacation in Spain, just sitting on the beach with the occasional roll in the hay with a local Spaniard.
Just as a smile was about to cross his lips, his thoughts were interrupted by the loud pounding to his motel room door. "FBI, we've got the place surrounded" Liars Smith thought to himself, as the all too familiar Agent West's voice penetrated through the door.
Smith's heart beat picked up tremendously as he tried to look for an exit. bathroom the voice inside his head said He grabbed his ID back again, making sure both his guns will still on his hips, not a bullet had been fired, but thats not what the men on the other side of the door were telling people.
Gabbing his shirt he headed towards the bathroom as he heard a gun cock, he swallowed hard and jumped into the bathroom closing the door behind him. Moments later a shot rang out and the front door was no longer an obstacle.
The two men, Agent West and Agent Shay were advancing towards the bathroom now since they were basically one of him they knew how he would think. But by the time they opened the door all they saw was the head and arms of Agent Green slip out from under them once again.
"Son of a bitch" Agent Shay whispered as he raced towards the window. But by the time he reached the window all he say was the fading shadow of the only man to clear him and his partners name run off into the woods. I'll get you yet, I promise He thought walking back out of the bathroom shaking his head to tell his partner that Cat and Mouse was still on.
&&headstrong, I'll take you on. headstrong to take on anyone.
