Chapter Fifteen
Watching Nick was similar to witnessing a child being given free access to a candy store.
He loved going up to ever crew member that was a regular and introducing me as his girl.
I just kept smiling, because I had never seen Nicholas be this...giddy.
The argument behind us, my darling husband was back to his loving self.
He always had an arm around me or held my hand; practically skipping he was so happy. It was kind of unnerving.
Nick Jonas...skipping...odd, but irreplaceably cute.
"Should we take a break?" he asked while we strolled down an empty hallway. "You're probably really bored of me droning on and on..." I silenced him with my finger pressed to those incandescently beautiful, luscious lips of his, "No, I'm actually very amused. You are just too adorable, Nicholas."
He smirked against my touch and took my hand, holding it tight, but tenderly as he trailed kisses all down my finger. I couldn't help it and closed my eyes, the vision of my husband's fiery, smoldering gaze still solid in my mind. Nick started adding suction and I had to bite back a gasp.
Newlywed life? Total, unparalleled paradise.
I opened my eyes when I was suddenly being pulled somewhere. "What--?" My sentence was cut off by Nicholas' lips crashing onto mine, hidden in the safety of a...storage closet?
I was befuddled as I eyed the semi-dark space, all the while my beloved continued kissing me, pressing me between a wall and himself (aka his magnificent body).
Grabbing Nick's face gently, I held him at bay. I just wondered how long I could keep it like that. "Nicholas...what ARE you doing?" I asked in a laughing tone. He smiled, "Can't we fool around?"
My mouth dropped and then my eyes narrowed suspiciously, "Are you mocking me, Mr. Jonas?" I poked his chest and Nick laughed, "Maybe. Come on, baby, you know I'm just--" "Fooling around?" I interrupted with a knowing smirk.
His hands slinked up to my waist, "Clever, Mrs. J. But I've gone through twelve technicians, six security personnel and five stylists without kissing you. I can't be blamed for missing you and your..." he paused to trace my mouth idly, eyeing them with lust, "petal..." he leaned forward, sliding me closer as I watched him, breathless, "soft..." his nose was touching my cheek, "lips."
I closed my eyes tightly and gave into the kiss wholeheartedly. I started giggling after a minute and Nick pulled away, cocking his head, "What's so funny?" I pursed my lips to stop from laughing more, "I was just thinking about how I imagine your lips and realized our descriptions aren't far off." He raised an eyebrow, "And what's yours?"
"That they're perfect," I began, standing on my toes and giving my husband a small kiss, "and beautiful," I kissed him again, "and just for me." I giggled once more, "You wanna know what else I love?"
Nick smirked, "Me?" I gripped his arms, two things I loved as well. "Yes, but specific parts. Like...this freckle, right here," I kissed the prominent speck on his right cheek, "and this one," I trailed my lips down to his neck, "on the side, discreetly hidden." I started to suck on the smooth skin and Nicholas let out a shaky moan, his hands tightening around me. I continued, teasing my husband and gently pushed him back till he hit the door.
Now, he was trapped.
I loved having control over Nick. It was too entertaining to be legal.
My hands drifted under his shirt and trailed over the hard muscles of his abs, "Do you know how badly I want to give you a hickey right now? But your fans would keel over, I'm quite sure," I muttered near his ear before delving back to my beloved's neck.
His breath increased, "Luce...we're in a closet...backstage."
I smirked, "Thank you for stating the obvious, baby." He sighed, "We can't, Luce, there's too much of a risk getting caught." I chuckled and ran a hand through his curls, "You started it, Nick, with wanting to fool around. But don't worry, I wasn't thinking of doing THAT. What a dirty mind, Nicholas, I'm surprised."
My husband laughed, but I could feel the heat from his face increase, "Don't you mean, 'risque'?" I pinched his side and Nick jumped, ticklish in that spot, "Very funny. If you're going to mock me, then I'm leaving."
I reached for the door handle but a hand shot out and took my wrist, "I'm sorry, baby. I'm only teasing because I loved that you called me it. Don't be mad." He kissed my palm and smiled lightly. My emotions melted under the deep, loving gaze of my husband. I sighed, "You're forgiven."
He kept smiling, but I added, "Not until you kiss me." Nicholas gladly obliged and bent down, scooping me up in his arms and brought his lips to mine adoringly.
"We should get back," I whispered, my face, for once, level with Nick's. He nodded and took my hand, "This was fun." He opened the door and poked his curly haired head out, checking the hallway.
It being empty, we stepped out and gently closed the door, acting like a normal couple who hadn't been making out in a closet; even discussing the option of having sex within the highly catchable area. As we entered a new hall that was bustling with workers, I comprehended something.
I realized people were staring at Nick's and my almost-matching wedding bands. Discreetly, I started to slip mine off, but my husband took my hand and kissed it, "Leave it. I am not allowing us to hide our rings. I'll just tell everyone the truth then, that's way too important."
I smiled and stopped my attempt, "What are we going to say then? If people ask and I indubitably know they will." Nick smiled and shrugged, "Promise rings? A gift? I'll leave that one up to you." He winked while we continued to stroll through the corridors.
----
We were heading back to the dressing room after our lovely little alone time in the closet. I leaned my head onto Nick's shoulder and he slid his arm around my waist, "Are you tired, Luce?" I nodded and stifled a yawn, "Kind of, which is weird since all I've done today is sleep."
Nick chuckled, "Well, not exactly just sleeping--" I poked his ribs, "Don't, public place. My Lord, Nicholas...what has gotten into you?" I laughed in hilarity and smiled up at him.
My husband flashed a grin, "Having you again, baby. You want a ride on my back?"
I nodded, "But first, check your glucose. Who knows how our impromptu rendezvous affect it...affect you." I winked and he burst out laughing, "The words you've said today, Luce, are hilarious. Really, are you doing this to me on purpose?" I shook my head and reached into his pocket, retrieving the PDM, "You'll never know."
Nick kissed my cheek before his fingers roamed over the gadget, "Normal reading, cool." He returned it to his jeans and bent down, "Up you go, baby." I giggled and climbed on, lacing my arms around his neck and resting them on his chest.
Nicholas stood and immediately grabbed the bottom of my thighs, holding me in place as he trekked forward. I placed my head on his shoulder and sighed, "You're the best husband in the entire galaxy." I kept my voice low and made sure my lips were near his ear. He turned his head towards me and smiled, "You're the greatest wi--" His answer was cut short by a shrill voice behind us, "Nick!"
We froze, assuming that we had been caught.
My beloved turned and there she was, running towards us at top speed--Miley Cyrus. My arms tightened around Nick unconsciously before sliding off his back. He quickly took my hand and intertwined our fingers, giving me a comforting squeeze.
I hadn't kept it a secret that I wasn't a fan of Miley, or the publically known flirtation she executed on my husband.
I was absolutely dreading this moment.
"Hey, Nick!" Miley giggled, putting her arms around his waist and actually CUDDLING into his chest...while I was standing RIGHT THERE. He just stood still, holding me, his wife, by the hand as another girl acted like they were together. My free hand formed a fist, counting the seconds. "Hey, Miley," Nick said, patting her on the back awkwardly.
She finally let go and grinned widely at him, "I wanted to see you before you went on for soundcheck. Don't worry, I'm not mad you left me outside to go into your tour bus. Why did you?"
I felt my brain flip in my skull at the rapid speech skills of the popstar teen in front of me--who had yet to acknowledge I was in the hall, holding hands with my secret husband and contemplating on throwing a punch or two in Miley's direction. I couldn't believe I was only a month older than her. She seemed so...childish.
But maybe Nick and I were just far more mature than her, which was a possibility, considering the things we've had to endure in our lives; even for this year alone.
The trials we faced before we met were vastly monumental in age too, like Nick's diabetes and my parents divorce. Both had been much too complex for mere children to deal with, yet we had and done so quite responsibly.
Nick pulled me closer, breaking my reverie, "I promised this angel here that I would come get her so I could show her around. Miley, I'd like you to meet Lucy. Lucy, Miley." I smiled politely and held out my hand, "Nice to meet you."
It was half-true.
I wanted to meet her so she saw that Nick was mine, as juvenile as it sounds. I did not like the knowledge Miley was openly flirtatious with my husband, though we weren't labeled a couple exactly during our separation. But we certainly hadn't stopped loving each other or taken interest in anyone else.
Therefore, I patiently waited for the teenager to move and drop the shocked look on her round, pubescent face.
Nick was less tolerant, "Miley? Hello?" The sound of his voice snapped her out of it, much to my waning annoyance, "Oh, hi." She quickly shook my hand, "Are you a friend of Joe's or something?"
My eyebrows knitted, "Uh, I am, but I'm here with Nick. Why do you ask?" Miley shrugged, "You just look around his age, so I thought you were with him."
I widened my eyes in astonishment, "I'm fifteen, actually. And Joe has a girlfriend, Holly, who's also my best friend."
It seemed Miley was trying to hang onto anything that meant Nick and I weren't a couple, though it was blatantly obvious.
"Oh, so you're just visiting Holly!"
I sighed and stopped myself from closing or rolling my eyes. No one person had ever made me quite as infuriated as Miley Cyrus. "No, I--" Nick interrupted me, "Lucy's here to see me, Miley. We're together."
He looped his arm around my waist as he spoke and the notion didn't pass Miley. Her baby face fell, "So...you're, like, a couple?" We nodded in unison and her expression dropped more, "But, Nick, you didn't have a girlfriend yesterday."
I was appalled and upset Miley would bluntly shove the unhappy fact that she didn't like the things we were telling her, while I stood right in front of her. How she kept pushing Nick for at least one reassuring word he liked her more.
Seriously, this was simply infantile on her part. I had only thought before that Miley was probably very pleased with the data she and Nicholas got to act like a couple sometimes, for the press, but now...I knew it. How could I not? Like I said, she was throwing it in my face.
"Lucy and I have been together since spring, actually. She just couldn't visit until now. I'm so thrilled she's finally here."
Nick shocked both of us by nuzzling my cheek and planting a kiss to my temple. Miley's mouth was hanging open, "Um...uh, cool. Well, I gotta go find my Daddy so...bye." We watched as she quickly strode around us and turned a corner.
"That was a little harsh, Nick," I said, turning to him. He nodded, "I know, but it was the only way I could get her to understand. Miley's really stubborn." Then, it hit me, "She's the one you were talking about earlier, the high maintenance subject at the hotel. I'm right, aren't I?"
My beloved nodded, "Yeah, she's bugged me a lot to buy her jewelry because we're friends and the press would have a field day about it. I just ignored her." I hugged him and changed topics, "Can I still have a piggyback ride?" I wanted Nicholas to take his mind off problematic situations now.
He didn't need the stress.
"I have a better idea," my breathtaking spouse stated and picked me up, only to move me to his hip, carrying me like a toddler. I smiled, "I like this more too."
I bent my head down and kissed his neck freckle. Nick gripped my thighs tighter and chuckled under his breath, "Risque, baby, risque."

The long-awaited meet! Could more heartbreak for the two heroins ensue? Keep reading and find out... LMN isn't close to ending!
