I pushed her off of me.
"Stop it!"
"What?"
"You heard me." I said quietly, losing my nerve
"You're seriously going to pick whateve that was over me?"
"You don't love me."
I knew this was her weakness. Love was the one thing Courtney feared.
she swallowed hard and it made me angry.
"Ugh WHY? What are you so afraid of. Do you have any idea of how much I loved you? How much I still do?"
She wouldn't meet my eyes and I knew she did.
"You just use me. You use everyone and when life gets too hard, when love threatens to put you in a place anywhere other than complete control you bail out on everything. You dissapeared! I was so scared!" Tears started flowing down my cheeks.
"I loved you so much Courts." I said quietly. "I wish you had felt the same."
As I turned away I heard her choke out something.
"I do."
I turned back to her in utter disbelief.
"W-what?"
"I do love you Ruby, you're the only person I've ever loved. I don't know what it is but when we're together I feel..." She trailed off and looked up.
"What? What do you feel?" I cried, failing to hide my desperation.
"Alive."
Courtney has a past. A painful past. Alcoholic parents, abusive father, she's been in and out of institutions and Homes her whole life. She was arrested for possession of drugs twice and attempted suicide over 5 times. I met her at school when I was the new kid. She was the only one who would give me the time of day. She was secretive and I knew nothing about her home life right up until we got together. She told me her life story.
