As I ran, my lungs felt just about as hard and cold as my skin did. Maybe it was really stupid for me to go out into the freezing cold, and run away from home without a coat... but... can you blame a stupid teenager like me for wanting to get away?
My parents fought a lot... but usually, it was over me. So why did it bother me this time, if they were fighting over me again?
Well... this particular time, they wanted to send me away.
To military school.
I'm a girl! Why, would they want to send me away that far, all the way to Texas, to go to a military school?!
Obviously, cause I was a bad, rebellious teenager, who couldn't cooperate good with my parents, right? Wrong.
A few weeks into the school year, here in Seattle, my parents had gotten in a fight with me on whether or not I should have traded schools. I'm sixteen years old, unhappy about it, and decided to show it.
So I drove to my friends house, had a few glasses of lemonade, and cried on her shoulder; because my parents had already signed the papers for me to switch, and it was totally against my will. They didn't even have logical explanations! Their exact idea behind the whole thing, was that "I needed change, because I didn't accept it."
...So now, I'm running away.
From this stupid change.
I can admit it... Yes, I don't like change. At all.
But that wasn't all... besides that fact that my father was a stupid drunk, fatter than a pig and lazier than ... well, any other fat lazy pig...
and my mom, was nothing more than my father. Except she was worse... she was a prostitute.
So here I was, two whole cities away from where my house was, missing a coat, and trying not to cry.
I wasn't beyond the point of no return... obviously, I had a little sense in my head to keep myself sane. I brought four hundred dollars along with me, so that I could buy myself some necessities, (a toothbrush and toothpaste would've been nice...), and a bag full of all my clothes, and three pairs of shoes to wear outside. I didn't bring my phone, because my parents would definately find me if I had it; and decided I would buy a prepaid phone on the way... to wherever I was going anyways.
~`.'~
It seemed like hours... and indeed, that's because it was. How long had it been exactly?... who knew.
I decided not to go anywhere quite yet, because for one thing, I was paranoid, and for another thing, I was sick of people right now anyway. Why not stay away while I could?
I turned my head while I walked, looking behind me at how far I was exactly... and I don't know why, I was surprised I couldn't still see my house. Had I really run three cities away now?
Bam.
I hit something solid, and firm, ... and tall. The smell of something hot, but cold the second it hit my nose hit me, ... and it smelled fresh, and sharp... pleasant.
I snapped my head around, and looked up as a normal reaction... but gasped when I saw it was a person.
"Oh my god!" I yelped, jumping backwards accidentally. It was a man, about 6'4, with dark chocolate hair, that just barely passed his eyes, which were a very piercing, canine yellow color. I stared at him, taking in another breath of his powerful fragrance, and just about tipped over. He was gorgeous.
But his expression, was cold.
"What are you looking at?" He growled, looking down at me with a glare.
"Excuse me?!" I squeaked, shaking my head and ruining my whole perspective of his intriguing outside. His voice was smooth... but tart, and sour.
"Do you have a stupid rabbit stuck in your ear, bitch?" His voice sneered, sarcastically. I swear, my eyes just about popped out of their sockets.
"What?! What is your problem you freak?!" I screeched. How rude! I hadn't even said one word to him, and he was already swearing at me! ... Not that I was any too polite back to him.
"I'm sorry... I meant, you stupid little female, is there a tiny fuzzy long eared creature stuck inside of your hearing-hole?" He re-defined his sentence, with a growing smirk. His straight, perfect teeth were shimmering white against his dark tan skin, which just about blinded me; and almost through me off guard.
"No! Is there a stick somewhere up your butt?!"
The man smiled, and tilted his head. Then his smirk melted away, and a sweet smile painted over it.
"I'm sorry... I wasn't very kind to you, was I?" He asked me, straightening his posture, and kindly bowing down to my eye level. My brain was spinning, and I inhaled another powerful whiff of his icy-hot scent, that made my lungs feel light and healthy for a moment.
"What? You just... excuse me?" I asked again, shaking my head and eyeing him. "You just... what is your... huh!?"
I was almost mad at him, but this new show he was putting on for me was... confusing me.
"Well jeez, don't say hello back or anything, bitch." He glowered, and rose up to his own height. This was all too much for me... why was he so... two sided?!
"What the hell are you talking about?! I don't even know you!"
"Well, let's know each other then..." He offered, as that second smile slid over his perfect chin again. "What is your name?" He asked, in a soft, rich voice. My cheeks flushed for a moment, but I couldn't tell if I was mad, or completely taken over by his looks.
"I'm not telling you, jerk!" I answered.
"Why not? I mean no harm..." He soothed, which flipped my guard, and made me soft inside again. Was this the way he spoke to everyone? So two sided?!
"...Well.. my name is Lilly..." I answered finally, without giving up a guarded expression. "Who are you?"
"Try asking me nicely, and maybe I'll answer you." He sneered, and turned away.
"What is with you!?" I asked, shaking my head.
"That won't win me over darling." His creamy voice slid through my veins, and into my mind.
"What may I call you?" I tried again, by adding a sweeter tone to my hesitant voice. He smiled at me again, and leaned down eye level with me.
"You may call me, Leryth."
