To be quite honest, I was very nervous rushing up inside his factory. Everyone else seemed positively giddy with happiness, but what if he was some...I'm not sure...child murderer or something who actually put people into his chocolate bars? Okay, I know I'm sounding ridiculous, but how was I supposed to know? I could tell by the look on Emily's face that she was so excited, so I kept my trap shut.
"Don't you want to know all our names?" I heard Augustus ask Mr. Wonka.
He answered smoothly. "I can't imagine how it wouldn't matter." Everyone tried to catch up with him. "Come quickly!" he shouted. "Far too much to see." I heard the sound of the doors click behind me. Spinning around, all I saw was darkness. I grasped Emily's hand and rushed to keep up.
We entered a really long, spacious hallway. Everything was silver, except for a long red carpet. It wasn't the most flattering thing in the world, but it was acceptable. "Just throw your coats anywhere!" Wonka shouted, throwing his off to the side.
I looked down at Emily as she ripped her ragged pea coat off. I didn't want to take mine off for some reason. She tugged at my coat, and pulled it off for me. By the time I looked up, he finally had his glasses off, his eyes a brilliant blue. I felt my cheeks go red. He was rather handsome, without the haircut.
Mr. Teavee's head was very moist, sweat dripping down his face. I tried not to laugh. "Mr. Wonka," he groaned unhappily. "It's very toasty in here."
"Huh?" Willy spun around quickly. "Oh yeah! I have to keep it warm in here, because my workers are used to an extremely hot climate. They just can't stand the cold!"
"Who are the workers?" the little boy, the one that I figured Emily to take notice of, asked.
Mr. Wonka smiled secretively. "All in good time." I was curious too, I think we all were. Emily looked at me and smiled. I could tell she wasn't nervous at all, being inside finally, but my stomach still lurched.
I looked up as I heard Mr. Wonka gasp. Violet was hugging him, and he was not very happy about it. Once again, I tried to stifle my laughter. "Mr. Wonka, I'm Violet Beauregarde." I could hear her disgusting chewing from the back of the group.
"Oh...I don't care." He shook his head and continued to walk forward.
"Well you should care!" she followed after him. "Because I'm gonna win the special prize at the end." Who did she think she was? Emily, so quiet and reserved could easily win. Or that little boy, he seemed like a winner as well. I wanted to know his name though...
"Excuse me," I whispered to him. "What's your name?"
He looked up at me, rather shocked, but then he gently smiled. "Charlie Bucket. And that's my grandpa, he motioned to the old man. I grinned towards him. "It's lovely to meet you!" Grandpa Bucket said, shaking my hand.
"My name is Melanie and this is my little sister, Emily." I saw Charlie and Emily both blush, grinning to myself. I fixed my attention back to Mr. Wonka. "Well, you do seem confident, and confidence is key," he answered. What is he talking about? Oh, that's right. Violet.
I watched Veruca jump right in front of him. "I'm Veruca Salt. It's very nice to meet you, sir."
"I always thought a verruca was a type of wart you got on the bottom of your foot." He laughed, enjoying his joke as she frowned rather unhappily. Once more, he continued to walk...then Augustus jumped in front of him too. A never ending train of rude interuptions.
"I'm Augustus Gloop," he greedily bit into a candy bar. "I love your chocolate!"
Willy looked him up and down. "I can see that..." he smirked. "So do I. I never expected to have so much in common." For Mr. Wonka inviting children to his factory, I got the feeling he didn't like kids too much. Or perhaps it's just these kids. "And you," he twisted around, facing Mike. "You're Mike Teavee. You're the little devil that cracked the system." Devil? Did he just call a child a devil? "And you," he smiled towards Emily and Charlie. "Well, you're just lucky to be here aren't you?"
"We're very lucky sir," I whispered, trying not to make eye contact. "Luck was our helper, I suppose."
He tilted his head. "Well, that's good, isn't it? Luck gets people barely anywhere." I tried to speak, but he cut me off. "And the rest of you must be their-" He began to...well I'm not quite sure what it was. He just couldn't seem to get the word out. Sort of like, chokeing and getting ready to puke at the same time...
"Parents," Mr. Salt answered properly.
"Yeah! ...Moms and Dads..." he looked towards the floor, his eyes wide. "Dad...Papa?" He seemed to be going into a trance. I raised my brow...he was definitely different... "Okay then! Let's move along!"
We began to walk again. I was hoping there wouldn't be any rude interruptions like last time. I just wanted to go inside already. I faced Emily, to see how see was doing. Her face was turned away from me. "Emily, what's wrong?" She didn't answer me, so I stopped. "Emily," I turned her face to me. She was about ready to cry.
Mr. Wonka noticed we had fallen behind, and stopped in his tracks, walking over to us. "Listen, I hate to be rude, but we really need to get a move on." I glared up towards him, wrapping my crying sister in my arms.
"Excuse me," I snapped. "You can continue without us, I'm sure we'll be able to find our way in a few moments..." Emily sniffled, whipping tears from her eyes. I knew why she was crying. She was crying about mom and dad. I cursed Willy for even mentioning parents. "Emily dear, do you want to leave?"
She looked up at me quickly, shaking her head back and forth. "Are you sure?" I mumbled. "I wouldn't mind-" she frowned at me, insisting that we stay.
"What," Willy grimaced towards her. "She doesn't talk?"
I stood up, clutching Emily's hand. "Mr. Wonka, we've had some rough times before, so I'd appreciate it if you'd be a little more sensitive." he stared at me, and I'm not sure why. "Well...are you going to continue?"
"Ah!" he smiled. "Yes, of course."
*-*-*->
"An important room, this." He paused in front of the smallest door I'd ever seen. "After all, it is a chocolate factory."
Mike sighed, annoyed. "Then why is the door so small?!"
"It's to keep all the great big chocolaty flavor inside." He gave a little giggle, pulling out his keys. Whatever was behind this door, it better have been good. I wasn't really as afraid as I was a while ago, but it still made me nervous...In an exciting sort of way, that is...but still nervous.
I watched him stick the key into the tiny lock and step back. He gave a tight lipped, mysterious smile and pushed open the wall. I could have burst out laughing. I actually thought that we had to go into that tiny door! But, that would have been foolish...
And then he pushed open the doors, and I saw the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen in my entire life.
J'Taime Button...(I love you button)
Back by popular demand, I decided not to postpone this one any longer. I hope you enjoyed it ^^ If you're nice, you'll rate or message. Or do nothing...if you reached the results, then I suppose you're pretty kind.
