Portgas D. Ace Romance -One Piece- (ladies) Chapter 16

Recap: You, Robin and Franky are fighting marines on the bridge of hesitation.
Another wave of soldiers came, but they were too easy.  Robin tripped some, Franky blasted and punched others while you wiped out the rest.  More and more kept coming but you kept them at bay.  Suddenly, you heard and saw explosions in the town behind you.  The Buster Call had started.  You heard a whimpering sound and saw Robin kneeling on the ground, shaking. 
(Oh no…)
Robin had told you a long time ago how her life was destroyed in Ohara by a Buster Call, you couldn’t even imagine what she felt having to go through that again.  You rushed over trying to calm her down but she couldn’t stop shaking.  Youfelt the ground shake and looked over to a tower to see a HUGE fist punching what looked like a leopard
(What the hell was that!?  Luffy!?) 
The huge arm was attacked to a small body wearing a red vest.  You watched as Luffy took a heavy beating from the leopard-man as they continued to fight each other with cannons erupting around them. 
“Did you see that!? You’re done for! No, you’ve been done for since the beginning!” yelled Spandam smugly.  “You still don’t get it, the one fighting Strawhat is Lucci! The strongest in the history of CP9! After the brat dies, you three are next!”  You watched as the other ships targeted Luffy and fired. 

“NOOOO! Luffy!” you yelled not believing your own eyes. Spandam laughed again and anger pulsed through you, your eyes a shocking blue
“Your captain is dead! Now Franky, hand over the women and I’ll pardon you of your crimes”
You grip tightened on Robin and you wanted to choke that son of a bitch, but you wouldn’t.  Robin and Franky were the ones that deserved to finish him off. 
“Why’re you protecting that woman anyway? Do you really trust those two vipers? If you go against us, then just like Tom, you’ll-”
*BAM*
Franky sent Spandam flying back.  “Keep that annoying mouth of yours shut!” Yelled Franky, looking pissed.  Spandam stood up and smirked unsheathing his sword. 
“ELEPHANT CHOP!” he yelled as the sword lunged forward, heading straight towards Robin.
(It’s too fast!) you thought as you wrapped yourself around her, trying to protect her.  Instead of an impact you heard dragging noises and heavy breathing.  You and Robin looked with wide eyes to see that Franky had stopped it right before hitting you.  Franky said some very choice things, convincing the elephant to go back to normal or he would ‘blow a hole in his head’. 
“Nico Robin, Donia Sapphire, will Strawhat and the others be here?”
“I gaurantee it” you said. 
Robin had calmed down and you let her go, standing up.  Franky turned to Spandam again,
“It’s amazing, the world told Luffy to abandon these two but the Strawhats ignored all of them and pressed on.  In order to save two nakama, each of them faced the World Government without hesitation.  It’s incredible…” You felt overwhelming pride for your crew, it was incredible.  “Thanks to the Strawhats I can finally pay my debt to Tom-san” Franky said as he picked up the elephant and threw it onto Spandam.  “I died once and as long as it lets the Strawhats get out of here, I don’t care what happens to me!  Clear the way, I’m making them an escape route!” 
You smirked (Finally, some real action!)
Robin stood up “I’ll help too.  I’m alright now, I’m not alone!” 
You grinned “All together then” you said as you faced your upcoming challenge.
*** [It’s getting hard to rewrite every line so… FF>>]
You’d finally cleared the bridge of marines, making it to the ship when a weird looking mermaid brought up all the others except Luffy.  You ran over to Usopp and gave him a huge hug
“Usopp! That was awesome! I’m so proud of you!”
You couldn’t see because of his mask, but you knew he was blushing.  Suddenly, a huge explosion come from the island.  You heard an announcement coming over the den-den-mushi intercom:
“We have located approximately 50 other pirates escaping out the main gates”
Franky laughed “I knew they’d make it! No matter how many times you kill those guys, they keep coming b-”
“After our attack, there is nothing left.  In the current state there can be no survivors”
“Can people really die this easily?” asked Nami.  Anger pulsed through you again
“This is the terror of the Buster Call, it’s a heartless beast that wipes out a city and it’s people, simply and without pity” you said, anger dripping of your voice.
“Hurry up Strawhat!!” yelled Franky “Your nakama’re waiting for you!!” 
You ran up to Franky and closed your eyes to concentrate.  “Mizu mizu no TSUNAMI!” you yelled, trying to extinguish the flames that engulfed the island, it was so hard.  There was so much fire but you eventually calmed the flames.  Exhausted, you went over and put a hand on Franky’s shoulder
“Franky, I refuse to believe that your nakama would die that easily, especially if they’re anything like you.  They’ll make it, they got this far, didn’t they?” Franky smiled sadly down at you “Thank you, Donia Sapphire”
Usopp, Zoro and Sanji joined you and Franky on the bridge as Robin and the others stayed on the ship.  A loud crack make you look back at the tower as it split in two
“Lucci’s strong” said Franky “If Strawhat hadn’t been holding Lucci there all along, I dunno how many of us would’ve died”
“He won’t die, right?” asked Usopp.  Zoro scoffed “What, are you stupid?” Usopp grumbled and you smiled sadly (He won’t die, he can’t, not until he reaches his dream) you thought, trying to hold on to that truth and you waited nervously. 
The marines shot down the bridge between you and the tower
(Damn! Focus Sapphire, you could’ve stopped that!)
Another announcement came from the ships “In the first tower are both Rob Lucci of CP9, and Strawhat Luffy.  All ships, battle formation around the bridge of hesitation. On the Bridge of Hesitation and the convoy ship, are, including Pirate-Hunter Zoro, Nico Robin and Tsunami Sapphire. A total of ten pirates!  We believe they are the main force responsible for the defeat of CP9 in the Tower of Justice!” 
The boys around you moved into defensive position. 
“They’re here to get the girls back” said Zoro. 
“We’re not gonna let that happen” said Usopp getting in front of you. 
“Sapphire” said Zoro “Can you do anything about the ships?” You shook your head
“No, if I try anything when we’re this close I put our escape ship in danger.  Also, if I move too much water around, I don’t think the tower Luffy’s in would stay standing for too much longer”
He nodded “The hard way then”  
“Oi! Look over there” said Usopp pointing to the tower.  Through the smoke, you saw Luffy facing off Lucci but something was wrong, Luffy had steam rolling off his body. 
(What the hell…)
“LUFFY-KUN!” yelled Usopp at the top of his lungs.  “OVER HERE!” Luffy turned towards you as Franky yelled “Everyone got to the bridge safely! We’re all fine!”
“THERE’S NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT US LUFFY-KUN!” yelled Usopp. 
“WE SAVED ROBIN-CHAN AND SAPPHIRE-SAN TOO!” screamed Sanji punching his fist into the air. 
“NOW, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS BEAT HIM LUFFY!!” you yelled
“BEAT HIM, LUFFY!!” yelled Zoro, next to you. 
“AND TOGETHER-” yelled Usopp
“LET’S GO BACK!” yelled Sanji.  “Now it’s just a matter of time” said Zoro, turning back to the ships.
“Lieutenant Commander and lower stand by! Captains and Commanders, the 200 elite fighters, put an end to this quickly.” 
You smirked, ready for more payback for what they’d done when Usopp said something  “Oi! Where’s Sanji? He was here just a bit ago!”
“What’s that idiot cook doing at a time like this” Zoro complained
“Don’t worry boys” you said “Us four are more than enough for these guys”
Zoro and Franky smirked, moving into position as Usopp started freaking out.  Loud yelling came from the ships
“They should stop showing off and attack al ready” complained Zoro
“This’ll be fun” said Franky, stretching his arms “I’ll go all out” 
“We’ll take ‘em all on here no matter what!” said Zoro, drawing his swords, “We’ll do this ‘till Luffy gets here!”
Finally, the men leaped overboard and started attacking as you called up water.  Several men came from behind you, swords drawn “Mizu mizu no Muchi [whip]” you said as a water washed the men away.  You heard the sounds of the other fights, giving occasional glances to Usopp, making sure he was ok.  A man managed to get inside your defenses, pressing a gun to your head
*BANG*
You smirked at the man’s expression as the bullet passed through you.  You quickly punched him off the edge of the bridge.  A group of men surrounded you and you made the water spin faster and faster around you, until it completely encased you, glowing slightly.  “Mizu mizu no Sphere!” The water burst out in all directions blasting back all men who who’d surrounded you.  You looked back to see a large group of men heading towards the boat (Crap! Nami and Robin!) You ran to the ship, beating down anyone that got in your way.  You looked over to see Nami and Robin back to back fighting with all they had and beating the crap out of the oncoming siege. 
You lifted your arms and made a wide sweeping motion (This should help even the odds) sending about half the group over the edge. 
“LUFFY!!!” it was Usopp, your blood ran cold as you ran back to him so what what’d gone wrong.  You ran over to see Luffy lying on the ground barely breathing. “LUFFY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? GET UP! LUFFY!” 
Several men went after him but you and Zoro fought them back.  “LUFFY! GET UP!... LUFFY!”
You moved closer to Usopp, now only several feet behind him making sure his conversation wouldn’t have any interruptions. 
“Usopp…y-you came too?” You barely heard Luffy’s answer he was so quiet but it made you confused
(What does he mean ‘came too’ he’s been here the entire time)
“D-DON’T GET ME WRONG! I ONLY CAME TO SAVE NEE-SAN AND ROBIN! I DIDN’T COME TO SEE YOU OR ANYTHING!”
(What the hell did I miss!?) 
“Oi! You! CP-9’s BOSS CAT! YOU! i’LL BE YOUR OPPONENT!  COME AND GET ME!”
Lucci paused in his advance to Luffy’s body and you caught on. 
“That’s right you stupid cat!” you yelled “No one! Not even you could beat us, the great Usopp-Sapphire siblings!”  Usopp pressed on, gathering courage from your support
“WE’VE TRAVELED THE ENTIRE GRAND LINE, WE’VE DESTROYED ISLAND AFTER ISLAND…AND IF THE WORLD GOVERNMENT GOES AGAINST US, WE’LL DEFEAT YOU WITH BOTH ARMS TIED BEHIND OUR BACKS! IF YOU DARE, COME AND FIGHT US!”
“Worthless kitten!” you spat, trying to make his as angry as possible.  It worked, he started walking towards you, completely leaving Luffy behind him. 
“COME ON BOSS-CAT! WE’LL SEND YOU FLYING!”
“Are you two idiots?” said Luffy “Quit it! Usopp, Sapphire! He’ll kill you!”
“I refuse to stand by and watch this happen to you Captain!” you yelled to him. 
“SHUT UP LUFFY! THEN WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU GONNA DO, WHEN YOU’RE SO CLOSE TO DEATH!?”  
“I’m gonna kick his ass!” yelled Luffy, coughing up blood. 
“Then stand up, Captain!” you yelled back
“STAND UP LUFFY, STOP LOOKING LIKE YOU’RE GOING TO DIE! IT’S NOT LIKE YOU! Even though it’s been blacked by the smoke… WE CAN STILL SEE THE SKY! WE CAN STILL SEE THE SEA!”
Luffy tried getting up but fell back down
“This place…THIS PLACE ISN’T HELL! STOP LOOKING LIKE YOU’RE GOING TO DIE, BASTARD! STOP MAKING US ALL WORRY, DAMMIT!” 
Lucci reached the edge of the tower “Are you two finished? Then prepare yourselves…”
“I got it. This isn’t hell or anything” said Luffy standing up. 
“Luffy…” you said, relieved. 
“BEAT HIM! THEN WE’LL ALL GO BACK TOGETHER, LUFFY!” you and Usopp screamed at the same time. 
“NO MATTER WHAT!!!” Luffy yelled as more steam rose from his body.  The fight between Luffy and Lucci started back up as Usopp leaned towards you
“Nee-san, isn’t there anything you can do?” You let a silent tear fall
“No…no, I can’t, at the speeds they’re going there’s a fifty-fifty chance that I could hit Luffy and if I mess too much with the surrounding water, the tower might crumble” You felt so helpless, here you were, this supposedly strong person, but you could only watch as Luffy faught on.
Suddenly, three men came up behind you.  Usopp turned and immediately started throwing his ‘stars’ at them as you summoned more water.  Usopp tripped when they tried to slash him and you sent them flying with a blast of water.  Usopp opened his eyes slowly
“H-huh? I won? That’s it! I really did hit them! That’s right, I am Sogeking, king of the snipers!” You rolled your let and chuckled lightly as he began singing a weird song.  You continued to help fight off the marines when you heard a large cracking sound in the tower.  You ran back to see Luffy covered in blood with a determined look on his face
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!  GOMU GOMU NO…JET GATLING GUN!!!” You stood there frozen as Luffy bashed Lucci right through the tower. 
(HE DID IT! Thank goodness…)
Just then, another announcement came over the intercom “Rob Lucci, of CP-9, just now…just now, Was defeated by the pirate Strawhat Luffy!” 
Relief flooded through you (We made it! We all made it!) 
“LET’S GO BACK TOGETHER! ROBIN!! PHIRE!!” Luffy yelled
“Luffy!” you yelled joining back in the fight with the others “Luffy won!”  
“Good job Strawhat-san!...You idiots, everyone’ll be able to hear us!...It’s fine, they need to know!...ANIKI!!!...Quit it! We already made ‘em think we died while we ran away….We’re all ok! The giants took the blows for us! Sodom and Gomorrah are ok too!”
You looked over to Franky who was crying, “You idiots! You think I’d worry about you?” You walked over and patted him on the shoulder “Those idiots! That’s great... that’s great, I’m so glad”
The slight reprieve in the fight started up again, as you helped Nami and Robin with their portion, making sure to stay clear of her Thunderbolt. 
“The pirate Strawhat Luffy appears to be heavily wounded!  He still hasn’t moved from that spot!” 
You saw Usopp run back to the edge of the bridge. 
“OI! LUFFY!” yelled Usopp “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? HURRY UP AND GET OVER HERE! WE WON’T SURVIVE IF WE DON’T GET OUF OF HERE! COME ON! IT’S JUST A LITTLE FURTHER! I’LL HELP YOU THE REST OF THE WAY!... WE’RE SURROUNDED BY NOTHING BUT BATTLESHIPS AND OCEAN! IF YOU STAY HERE, YOU’LL BE KILLED! …LUFFY! CAN’T YOU HEAR ME? LUFFY!”
“I-it’s no use…my body…won’t move at all…”
“WON’T MOVE!? DON’T BE AN IDIOT! YOU DEFEATED YOUR ENEMY, DIDN’T YOU!? AND WE ALREADY SAVED ROBIN AND SAPPHIRE! NOW ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS RUN! PLEASE, TRY YOU BEST!”
“Everyone to the ship” Nami called “We’ll move it to meet Luffy”
“FIRE”
*BOOM* 
You looked back, horrified, to see the escape boat in flames and before you could even start moving the water around the ship, there was nothing left.  Through the smoke came Sanji carrying those that had stayed on the boat. 
(Sanji... thank goodness)  Behind him, came a series of cannon fire from the warships forcing everyone to escape to the second tower.  You raised a protective barrier of water as debris came flying at you and the crew. 
“Prepare to fire at the first tower”
“NO LUFFY!!!” you screamed.  “Robin! Can you pull Luffy to the edge of the tower” she nodded and got into position as you heard tumultuous cheers for Luffy coming from everywhere but they were drowned out by a different sound, they same one you heard when you faced Spandam. 
(‘look below’? what does that mean?)  
You prepared a water bridge between the first and second towers and started to run across to Luffy.  When you were about halfway you looked down to see the outline of a ship.  A ship with the head of a goat. 
(What’s the Going Merry doing here!?)
“Five seconds until firing at Strawhat Luffy”
“Not if I can help it!” You said to yourself “HOLD ON LUFFY! I’M COMING!”  You continued to run across trying desperately to beat the ships. 
“JUMP INTO THE SEA!” you heard Usopp yell
“Four seconds”
(faster Sapphire!)
“TO THE OCEAN! SAPPHIRE, GET LUFFY INTO THE OCEAN!!”
“Got it Usopp!” you yelled barely entering the first tower. 
“Three”
“WE STILL HAVE ONE MORE NAKAMA!”
“Two”
You set Luffy unto a bed of water you created and moved to the edge of the tower. 
“One”
You jumped off, lowering Luffy down with you “TO THE SEA!” Everyone yelled. 
“Let’s go, everyone” called a voice from the ocean
“FIRE!”
“Back to the sea of adventure!”
“GET ON MERRY!” cried Usopp. 
“MERRY!!” yelled Luffy, looking energetic again. 
“I came to get you!”
You let Luffy down onto the deck gently, then quickly cushioned everyone’s falls with beds of water, setting them down onto the deck. 
“That’s weird, there’s no one here” said Sanji looking around. 
“It’s the Merry! The Merry’s back! I love Merry so much!” said Chopper, tears streaming down his face. 
“Merry…Merry’s still alive…Why…why did you do this...Merry?” Usopp said, running his hands up and down the mast. 
“I…I don’t believe it” said Franky, “This ship fell into the ocean!” You rounded on him
“This ship did WHAT!?” He sweat-dropped
“Oh yeah…you were kidnapped by then, don’t worry I’ll tell you later”
You were seriously confused now, first the Merry is actually a submarine and now supposedly it shouldn’t even be floating. 
“Phire, Robin, you saved me than-” Robin slapped a hand over his mouth and stood up “Luffy, and everyone, thank you!”
You smiled “Me too guys, thanks for coming to get me”
They all smiled warmly at you and Robin when the ships started targeting the Merry. 
“They’re all aiming at us” said Usopp. 
Franky nodded “There’s no way they can miss this ship” 
“FIRE”
You smirked as you felt the water currents changing beneath the ships and instead if hitting you, they hit each other.  You looked over to Sanji,
“What exactly did you do when you left earlier?”
He winked “I guess you’re not supposed to pull the lever that says ‘DO NOT PULL’. But man, that worked out better than I’d hoped” 
“Bravo, bonus points to the chef” you said, smiling. 
“Sanji!” yelled Luffy, “Are you some kind of genius!?”
“Oi!” said Zoro, interrupting “This isn’t time to be praising him, those whirlpools’ll be hard on us too” 
You walked over to him and punched him hard “OI! Have you forgotten that you’ve got ME as your nakama, you stupid marimo-head!?” He sweat-dropped
“Sorry…”
“Besides, there isn’t a sea which the Merry can’t go through!” said Nami, stepping up beside you “Me and Sapphire’ll get us out of this!”
You smiled and nodded as the rest of the crew went to the back to block the cannon balls. 
“What can I do Nami?”
She took out a little notepad and started making calculations.  After a few minutes, she showed you a map “I need you to make these currents flow in this direction while keeping the other ships away from us” 
You nodded and focused on the different currents, slowly manipulating them to match Nami’s drawing.  After a few minutes you stepped back “Done”
“Perfect, Franky I need your help next”
Franky sent the ship flying with his Coup de Vent as Usopp setup a smokescreen causing the ships to ram into each other because of the new currents.  After you’d escaped the mermaid-woman set Luffy down on Merry’s head as everyone gathered around. 
“I never thought that Merry would come to save us.  But now that I think about it, we’ve always been protected by you. I’m so glad you’re our nakama.  Thanks, Merry”
“But you know…” said Franky “You guys did some pretty unbelievable things.  You burnt down the World Government’s flag…”
“What? It’s nothing special…We were just getting back our nakama who were taken from us.  You saved Robin and Phire too, so thanks” 
Franky scratched his head blushing slightly “Well, it wasn’t really anything special to someone as great as me”
“Anyway…this fight…is our…victory!”
"AYE!"




Preview: next chapter'll be Merry and the things Ace is doing during the CP-9 arc, at least that's the plan.
