ok, now im in uncharted waters.
Upon his arrival home, Dilios learned that both his wife and child had died of the plague. He mourned for a month or so. After that, he regained his outer composure. Inside though, he was still deeply aggrieved, deep inside. Jenia did not have a family to go home to. She was all alone. The queen had allowed Jenia to live in the palace. They became great friends.
One night, Jenia had a dream that deeply disturbed her:
She was laying on her stomach, asleep. Her naked body was covered up to the small of her back. She was in a large, lavish tent. A large hand gently carressed her bare back. Jenia's eyes sprang open.
"So sweet, so smooth, so...soft," she heard a deep voice say," so much more delicate than the women of my tent." She had heard that voice before. Now it gave her a haunted chill. It was the voice of none other than the dead king of the Persians. Xerxes. Her body rose to his touch.
"Why do you tempt me so," she whispered.
"To see how far away it will take you," Xerxes answered.
Jenia woke up with a start. She tried to concentrate on her thoughts, but her eyelids were too heavy. She slowly fell back into a deep slumber.
"Jenia, you're positively radiant," Queen Gorgo told her in the morning.
"If you truly believe those words, Gorgo," she joked," have you seen Dilios?"
"Not yet this morning," the queen replied," perhaps you should go find him."
"That I will," Jenia said.
She began her day searching for her closest living friend. It had been three months since their return. Jenia noticed that her stomach had been slowly growing. She found Dilios in a small shop on the outskirts of town.
"Hello, Dilios," Jenia said from behind him.
"Hello, Jenia," he said, turning around.
"The queen told me to find you, and I did. I think she just said so to keep me busy," Jenia told him.
"Well, it appears otherwise."
"As general, I expect you would have any news about the Persian army's advancement," Jenia said to him.
"They are nowhere near attack," he told her," but I doubt you'll be able to fight anyway, Commander." He refferred to her stomach.
"Thank you for that wonderful insight, Dilios," Jenia coldly stated.
He laughed slightly. They were walking through the town together now, side by side. "How is your shoulder?"
"It's healing, but slowly.Your eye?"
"It is definitely gotten better. It is almost fully healed."
"Good to know, you will be commanding the entire Greek army in my place. Most of the Corinthians are achers. You will need your sight," she told him. Since they had arrived back in the city three months ago, she had been promoted to Commander of the entire army and he to General.
"I hope they wait to attack, I want to fight in the war," she confided to him.
"I have a feeling you will anyway," Dilios said to her.
