When It Rains ~Part Five~

So are you sure you can make it to our band practice tonight?" Hayley asked me walking out of the school building. "I will try as hard as I can, I would hate to disappoint you guys. Hopefully my discussion with my best friend will go over smoothly and quickly". Hayles looked at me confused, and then I realized that I never told her about Joanna. "Oh, ugh, well today my best friend, Joanna, wasn't at school, so I kind of have to call her and bitch at her because she never told me she was sick or skipping", I said opening my car door. "Ah, well I see. So, just call me later to confirm whether it is a yay or a nay, okay?" There was an awkward silence, before we both started a giggle fit. She rhymed. "Anyways, you have my number, right?" she asked. I pulled out the slip of paper with Hayley's cell number on it. She gave me a thumbs up, and began walking towards the truck where Josh was suppost to meet her.
It's amazing, how in just one day I found out that the guy I am crushing on, likes me as well, and I have made friends with the people I have only imagined hanging out with. They are nothing like I thought they were, I thought that Hayley was conceited, and I thought Josh was a dousche bag. And the guys, well I thought that they were just crazy, which they really are, but in a very good way. Truth is, I think my life is finally turning around, for the better. I have gone through so much, it's about damn time that I get something to ease my suffering. My school life has definetely improved, but I am still worried about my home life. Will anything ever change? Will my life there get any better? or worse? I have no idea.
As soon as I got home, I ran up to my room and dialed Joanna's number. "Hello?" she asked. "Where the hell were you today? I was worried sick about you! Are you okay?" I heard her laugh a little, before coughing and then saying, "I was sick, I'm sorry, I had no time to call you because my mother took me to the doctor's first thing. I guess I feel okay, just really worn out and... sickly". I sighed in relief, "Thank goodness. I have some major news to tell you!" "What? What? What?", she asked eagerly. I heard her cough again, she must really be sick.
"Uhmm, well this morning, I kind of... bumped into Josh Farro... and then in Chem, you weren't there and neither was Josh's partner, so we had to work together, and then he told me the most wonderful news I have heard all year.... he and Hayley aren't going out anymore, and they've been good friends for the past few months.... Oh, and he said that he has noticed me before, and that he really likes me alot", I said all in one breath. I didn't here anything on the other end, and I knew that Joanna was dying. Not literally, but she was shocked. Just as shocked as I was when I found out the news. "Jo, are you okay? Breathe, just breathe!" "Congrats Kase!!! Oh my goodness, why did I have to miss all of this!? Damn being sick! So what else happened??" she said excitedly. "Well, Josh really wants to go out with me, but since we don't really know each other, we have started off being friends. Oh, and I became good friends with Hayley, she was so excited that Josh finally told me his feelings" I said, looking at myself in the mirror. "That is so wicked, I'm happy for you, just don't forget me just because I am sick!" Jo said, I could tell that she was worried about that. "Don't you ever think that I would ever forget you Jo! You are my best friend in the entire world, you have been since I can remember, I promise I will not forget you just because some boy likes me, and I have made some new friends."
"I know, I know, I was just testing you to make sure. Well, umm, I have to go, mom is getting pissy because she is waiting for the doctors to call", she said. I sighed, wondering why the doctors would need to call, "Oh, okay, well I'm going to go to Josh's band practice, so call me on the cell if you really need me. I'll talk to you later, I guess..." "Okay, that's cool. See ya!" Joanna said, and then quickly hung up. "Bye", I said into the phone, and hung it back up. I had a strange feeling that she was hiding something from me, but then I decided I was just being paranoid. Jo is my best friend in the entire world, she would tell me if something was up. Right? I would hope so. I pushed all those thoughts aside, and dug in my pocket for Hayles number. When I found it, I picked the phone back up and quickly dialed her number. "Hey Kase", I heard a males voice say. "Uhmm, hey, where's Hayley?" "Not sure, she just left her cell on the table so I thought I would answer it. Don't tell me you would rather talk to her then me, the most adorable guy in the universe, Zac Farro. I'm one sexy thing, you should know that!" he said, obviously licking he finger and then placing it on his butt, making that hissing sound. Just like he was "hot stuff". I giggled, and said "Okay, someone is conceited... but anyways, I just wanted to call and tell you that I am coming , but what time does it start?" "Ugh, I am not conceited! And, it starts at six so, don't be late!", and with that he hung up the phone. I just laughed because I pissed him off. Oh well, by the time I get there, he will have forgotten about it.
I am really excited for tonight's band practice. I never knew that they were in a band, until today that is. Hayley told me that she is the vocalist, Josh is the guitarist, Zac plays the drums and Jeremy plays bass. Josh has told me that Hayley has one of the best singing voices in Tennessee. I believe him though. They are so close as friends, and I know that what they create will probably be amazing. Tonight's expeirence should be interesting.
