Can't Catch Me, I'm The Gingerbread Man...
No matter how hard she tried, Caroline couldn't ever get him to fall for her... and she had tried practically every single trick in the book.
She flirted, she ignored him, she dressed differently, but nothing ever seemed to work.
She had decided that she would call him Gingerbread since he was practically impossible to catch.
But it was Christmas, so anything was possible.
"Oh, Care Bear!! Are you coming with us or not?" her friend, Chelsea called up the stairs.
She and her boyfriend, Brendon had invited her to a DecayDance Christmas party ... thing, and she decided to go only because she knew Gabe would be there.
"I'm coming, I'm coming!" she yelled back, grabbing her sidekick and her jacket.
"So, are you going to catch the gingerbread man this time?" Chelsea asked as they all got into her car.
Caroline rolled her eyes and sighed.
"Yeah, right. If anything, he's just going to think I'm his stalker or something," she replied.
"Ever heard of a thing called 'Christmas miracles'?" Brendon asked, glancing at her through the rear view mirror.
"I don't believe in 'miracles'," she said, trying to convince herself more than anyone else.
She just didn't want to get her hopes up for something that would never happen.
Gabe's POV
"So, are you actually going to kiss her this year or not?" Pete asked, walking into the living room, where Gabe was watching TV.
Or pretending to, anyway.
"Kiss who?" he asked, trying to pull off the whole 'I don't know what you're talking about' thing.
Pete just rolled his eyes.
"You know exactly who I'm talking about," he replied.
Gabe rolled his eyes and shook his head.
"I don't think so," he said.
"Come on man. She's been chasing you for about three years now. Just give her a chance!" Pete exclaimed before walking back into the kitchen to finish whatever he had to finish for the party.
Gabe just sighed and turned off the TV.
For the past three years, this girl that was obviously head over heels for him was trying to get him to go out with her or something, he didn't really know, and he really didn't want to give in.
He wasn't used to being the one that gave up, it was usually the other way around.
But there was something about this girl [Pete said her name was Caroline,] that made him curious.
Most people would have given up by now, but not her.
Maybe, just maybe, this year would be the year that Gabe Saporta gave in.
