Bitten [Chapter 1] ~Vampire Story~

Recap: Blood was smeared all over her face, but that wasn't the shocking part. Her face. It was weird. It was all lumpy and her eyes were big and bluish. A grin spread across her face, and I could see what looked like fangs. Suddenly she moved her head slightly and her face cleared. She looked human. She looked just like Jannis.

What... the... fudge...

"J-Jannis?" I stuttered, not knowing if I really saw what I just really saw.
 
"Well, lookey what we got here. It's Rei Rei" She said to me.

Something in her voice was different. It scared me. I was getting even more afraid then I already was as she dropped the guy she was.. biting and looked at me up and down. She walked around me, looking.

"W-What's wrong w-with you?" I asked her in fear.

"Wrong? I've never felt better" She told me as she stopped circling me. "What's wrong with you? Are you scared?" She asked with a laugh as she moved closer to me.

"W-Well... I just saw you b-bite that guy... w-would y-you be scared?"

"Actually I wouldn't. I'd probably join you. Don't you wanna join me? It's really fun" She grinned, grabbing my arm.

"W-What are y-you doing?" I asked, watching her moving my hair away a little.

"It's okay. It only hurts for a second, and when you've been bitten it's a whole new world. Don't you want that?" As she kept urging I just wanted to get away even more.

Is this really Jannis? What's wrong with her? What is she talking about?!

I watched in more fear as I looked over at her again to see her face turned weird again. My eyes widened as she leaned down.

She's insane! She's going to bite me!

"No!" I yelled, pushing her away.

She stumbled back a little, not expecting me to do that. She stared at me angrily, a wild look in her eyes. I screamed as she lunged at me. We both landed on the ground and I struggled to get her off of me.

"Jannis! Stop!! This isn't funny!" I yelled.

She grabbed my arms and forced them down.

"How are you gonna struggle now?" She chuckled as I tried to move my arms, but she was too strong.

"No!" I screamed, her head quickly went down towards my neck, her weird teeth out.

I'm going to die!

Just as I gave up all hope I heard Nick's voice from behind us.

"Get off of her!" I heard him yell and watched as he grabbed Jannis and barely managed to pull her off of me.

My arms hurt a lot as I got up and watched Nick stare over at Jannis in horror.

"J-Jannis?" He stuttered like I did.

I ran over to him before she could say anything and grabbed his arm.

"We have to get out of here. Something is wrong with her. That's not Jannis!" I yelled, trying to pull him off.

"Of course it's me" She told us, not moving though.

Nick didn't budge. He stared at her as she changed her face again.

"Nick.. it's me, Jannis" She told him softly, her voice seemed like Jannis's real voice now.

It sent chills down my spine how she could change so quickly. Nick seemed to forget she was just trying to bite me a few seconds ago.

"Jannis?" He asked again and she slowly nodded.

"Lair! Your not Jannis, Jannis would never attack me like that. What are you? What did you do with Jannis?!" I screamed, letting go of Nick's arm and walking closer to her.

"Rei! Stop it. We don't even know where she's been. She could have thought you were going to attack her" Nick told me, walking closer to Jannis too now.

"I was so scared. I didn't know what to do, but... I'm safe now right?" She asked innocently.

I could see right threw her lies, unfortunalty Nick was blind.

"It's okay Jan" He smiled, walking over to her and wrapping her into a hug.

"Nick! No!" I yelled at him as she grabbed him tightly.

"Ow! Jannis, that hurts!" He yelled in pain as she dug her nails into his back.

Before I could even grab Nick's arm and try to pull him away from her, she turned him around so she was behind him. Her eyes gleamed with victory as she looked down at his neck.

"What's going on?!" Nick yelled in fear at me.

"Jannis wait! Don't you remember us? Were your friends... why are you doing this?" I asked, slowly stepping towards them.

"Of course I remember you two" She told me, looking over at me.

Her face freaked me out, but I forced myself to stare back at her.

"D-Do you remember when you broke up with your boyfriend? We sat and ate chips since you didn't have ice cream and I suggested you got a cat?" I asked her, hoping somehow I could talk her out of this.

My best friend is trying to bite us... This doesn't even make sense

"And you told me to name it Andy, but I wanted a cuter name" She added with a little smile.

I smiled too and looked over at Nick who looked completely confused.

Alright, this is good. Keep talking..

I was just going to say something, but she beat me to it.

"And... you think I care about any of that? Those worthless memories?" She asked, her smile still there, but mine faded.

I gulped, realizing the whole talking thing wasn't going to work.

"Well then... what's that?!" I asked quickly, pointing behind her.

She stared at me in confusion. "You think I'll fall for-" Quickly I grabbed Nick's arm and pulled with all my strength, prying him out of Jannis's grasp.

"Hey! No fair!" She yelled as we quickly started to run away from her.

My arms still hurt as we ran as fast as we could around the corner and towards the parking lot. I looked to see Jannis was following us. She looked extremely pissed off. My heart raced. I could see Nick's car up ahead, but Jannis looked like she was running faster as I felt like slowing down. Nick tried to get me to run faster as we were getting closer and closer to his car.

"It's locked!" I yelled at Nick, frantically trying to pull it open.

I watched in horror as Jannis ran towards me. Nick quickly leaned over and unlocked my door. I swung it open just as Jannis got to me. She grabbed the door as I hopped in.

"Get out!" I yelled as she grabbed my arm, trying to pull me out.

Nick grabbed onto my other arm and the tug of war began.

"Ow! My arms!" I yelled as she pulled harder.

"Come on Rei, just get out of the freaking car!" She screamed at me.

I turned towards her and lifted my leg. As hard as I could I kicked at her. She loosened her grip on my arm and Nick pulled me towards him, making her let go of me. She stumbled back and I quickly grabbed the door and started to pull it shut.

"Drive!" I told Nick.

He floored it as I got the door closed. I looked through the mirror on the door to see her pointing at us.

"W-What happened to the other guy?" I heaved.

"I l-l-lost him in the c-club" He told me, trying to breathe.

Crap...

As we drove away from The Rabbit Hole I could see someone standing beside Jannis. The rest of the drive was silent. I didn't even ask where we were going.

"That looks bad" I told him, looking at the nail marks Jannis left in his back.

He didn't say anything. He just looked off into the distance. I turned and went into my kitchen, getting out a medical kit I kept in my cabinet. I came back inside and sat beside him.

"What... what do you think is going on?" I asked him.

He stayed silent for awhile, but slowly turned towards me.

"I thought it was her... it looked just like her...were... were just going insane right?"

"I have no idea what's going on. We both saw her... her face... you saw that too?"

"Yeah! It was so weird. That thing can't be Jannis"

"But she remembers everything... Nick! I think I know what's going on"

"What?"

"It's obvious. Were dreaming! Hum... slap me!" I exclaimed.

He stared at me like I just killed a puppy or something.

"Were not dreaming"

"Yes we are, now just slap me and maybe we'll wake up"

"I'm not slapping you"

I glared at him.

"Fine! I'll slap you and then after you realize your insane were going to the police and were going to tell them what happened" He told me.

"The police? They probably-" I stopped talking since right then he slapped me. "Ow! That hurt!" I yelled, rubbing my sore face.

"Hey! You told me to! Now come on, we have to tell the police" Nick told me, getting up and grabbing his shirt.

"And what are they going to do? Tell them that our friend suddenly turned into a monster and tried to bite us?" I asked.

"We have to do something" I got up as he did.

He threw his shirt on and walked towards the door. I quickly stepped in front of my door and blocked his way.

"Think about it. If we go to them they will think were crazy, lock us up, and that thing will be out there biting people"

He stopped and looked at me, thinking.

"And if we don't go to them, then what? We still can't do anything"

"We can try. There's two people I know that have seen weird things as well" I stepped away from the door and walked over to my coffee table where my phone was sitting.

"Who?" Nick asked, following me back into the living room.

I dialed the number and listened to the ringing noise as Nick watched me.

"Hey Kenny, it's me Reila. I saw... more things" I told him, as I sat down.

Explaining everything was pretty hard since Nick grabbed the phone a couple of times and added his own comments. Telling Kenny and just listening to myself explain to him what happened kept making me think it was all just a horrible nightmare, but Nick already slapped me out of that idea, which still hurt.

"Jane and I found someone down town. He owns a little book store and he told us things you should hear for yourself. Get a pen and paper and I'll tell you where he is" Kenny told me.

Quickly I grabbed the first piece of paper I saw and a pencil that was on the floor beside my foot. I wrote down what Kenny told me and Nick read over it as Kenny wished me luck.

"After you see him we should all meet up"

"Yeah. Thanks, I'll call you after I see him" We both hung up.

I got up as Nick was already getting on his shoes.

"Woah, we should wait till morning" I told him, pulling him away from his shoes.

"Wait?"

"Yes, do you really think it's safe going out there? In the dark?" I asked him.

Once again I could tell I had won. Without letting him say anything I quickly went into my room and got out some pillows and a blanket from my closet.

"First thing in the morning we'll go see him" I announced, placing the pillows and blanket on the couch.

I watched him let out a big sigh and nod. He walked over to me and gave me a hug.

"Were not crazy right?" He asked letting go of me.

"I sure hope not" I smiled.

He smiled and plopped down on my couch.

"Were safe in here right?" He asked me as I walked towards my room.

I turned around and shrugged. "I sure hope so" I walked into my room and closed the door.

I didn't feel safe. Just standing there, closing my eyes for a second, I could see her face. It wasn't Jannis's face. I wanted to know who that really was. Even if that meant doing something very unsafe. I waited an hour in my room. I got up, looking over at my clock. Almost 1am. Slowly I opened my door. I winced as it made a creaky noise. I slipped out and looked over at Nick who was fast asleep. Tip toeing, I looked around in the dark. I spotted the note I wrote down and Nick's car keys. Slowly I reached over and grabbed them both. I looked over at Nick.

I'm sorry... I need to know what's going on and I don't want you getting hurt..

Slowly I got my shoes on, opened my door and snuck out into the hallway.

I just have to get into Nick's car and make it to that book store. What's the worst that can happen?

I was about to push the elevator button until someone suddenly grabbed my shoulder.
