"Good afternoon ladies and gentleman." voiced the intercom. "Due to Hurricane Dennis, Grand Cayman has closed their port so we will not be making our scheduled stop. We are now headed to Cozumel at full speed and will arrive at 8 p.m. tomorrow."
You strained to hear what rest the captain had to say as people cheered.
"We are staying as far as possible from the hurricane while still on course because your safety is our number one concern. If there are any changes I, the captain, will inform you. Thank you and have a fantastic evening on the ship."
You sighed with discontent as you browsed through a store on the fifth floor of the ship. You had really wanted to visit Grand Cayman, and now you had to spend another dull day at sea.
You lifted a price tag of a bathing suit to your face, but quickly replaced it at the sight of the price. The bathing suit was expensive and so was everything else in the store.
You reached the back and on the wall hung evening gowns. There were lots of dresses but none attracted you more than the one that was displayed on a manikin. The deep ruby dress was sleeveless and the fabric that rested on the shoulders was the width of your hand. The dresss fabric swooped gently down over the chest which created soft folds. The hem was gathered up high near the waist and held by a gorgeous clip. You could see yourself in place of the manikin.
"Thats a marvelous dress." said a voice.
You looked to your side and saw Hart. Time had gotten away from you in the store and he had probably been searching for you. You smiled to him as your eyes went back to the dress.
"Yeah, it is." you said.
He watched you.
"Are you going to buy it?"
"I cant afford this!"
He doesnt seem to realize youre not a millionaire like him.
"How much is it?"
"There isnt a tag on it so that means it costs an arm and a leg." you replied.
"It won't hurt to ask."
No matter how much it was you couldnt buy it since you knew you didnt have enough money. It was just for the sake of curiosity.
You scanned the store for a clerk and sighted one at her desk.
"Excuse me, could you please tell me how much that dress is?" you asked motioning towards it.
The clerk paused and stared skeptically.
"That Armani dress is very expensive." she said.
You were quite aware of that. She was hinting that only someone with money could buy it and now that you felt extremely poor you didnt even want to ask again.
"Mr. Ainsworth!" said the clerk excitedly when she noticed Hart. "I had heard a rumor of you being on the ship and all the commotion youve been causing."
You had now been cast into the background as she curved around her desk towards Hart.
"I was actually trying no to, but I guess I cant help it." he said grinning mischievously.
She laughed as if it was the funniest thing she had ever heard.
"So, Mr. Ainsworth," she said regaining her composure. "What can I do for you?"
"Well, Im here shopping with ______," he said placing his hand around your shoulder bringing you back into the picture. You let it slide as you smiled warmly to the clerk. Thats how it was with Hart, it was as if he made you forget about wanting to distance yourself from him and keep what he wanted out of reach. You now didnt think much of him touching you.
"Oh!" she sounded when she realized the mistake she had made by assuming you were a normal customer.
"This must be the girl that you danced with all last night."
You heart began to beat up in your throat. How did she know about that? If she does then the whole ship must be talking about it!
You tried to start over with the clerk since now she knew you had a relationship with Hart, and so she could spread good gossip about you.
"Hello." you said.
The clerk nodded and showed a much nicer expression than before.
"You wanted to know how much that dress is?" she asked.
"Please." Hart said.
"It would costs two thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars," she informed. "but for Mr. Ainsworth, its a gift."
"Thank you, but I couldn't do that to my good friend Giorgio Armani." said Hart."But, before we make a decision could she try it on?"
"Of course."
The clerk handed you the dress and you were almost too afraid to touch it. As you went into the dressing room Hart wandered around the store. You came out a minute later and Hart returned to the dressing room and stopped dead. The clerk began to tell about the dress and Hart wasnt listening to a word she was saying. His eyes left only to acknowledge the clerk when she was leaving. You hurried back to change but Harts words stopped you.
"Dont go. Let me look at you."
He came towards you and his hands turned you to face a mirror, holding your back against him. His eyes met yours in the glass. Your reflection was unrecognizable, it was too beautiful to be you.
"Do you still not understand why I picked you?" he asked over your head.
You said nothing.
"You dont have to be humble ______. Thats why."
An odd sensation took over you.
He opened his mouth as if to say something, but before he could speak the voice of the clerk was heard.
"Would you like the dress Mr. Ainsworth?"
"Do you like it?" he asked your reflection still facing the mirror.
"Yes."
"Then, Ill buy it for you." he said.
Hes buying the dress for me?
With your hand over your mouth you headed back towards the dressing room.
"Theres no time to change." said Hart glancing at his watch. "We'll be late for dinner."
He was at the counter when he asked,
"Is there anything else that you want while were here?"
He made it sound like you were at the grocery store.
"Theres a necklace and a pair of heels that were made especially for the dress." chimed the clerk.
"The dress is more than enough." you said. You felt bad enough for a three thousand dollar dress.
"I'd like those to please." said Hart disregarding your statement. He knew better than to not have matching accessories.
The clerk rang up the dress, heels and necklace, which all combined came to a pricey total. You slipped the heels on as Hart paid for the total then he helped you with the necklace. Hart offered his arm and you accepted it. As you left the store saying,
"You shouldnt have bought me this dress."
"I wanted to buy it for you so you could keep all your limbs." Hart joked.
"But, now I feel like I owe you."
"If you just wear it, then I'll call it even."
You reached for the railing of the banister while you descended down the stairs to the restaurant.
"You could model Armani's clothing." he said. "I'll have to remember to give him your name."
At the restaurant you both waited to be seated. As you came closer to the hostesss podium you saw a boy who looked familiar and then you placed him. He was the one who had asked you to dance the night before. When your eyes met the boys you avoided them. He had also noticed you from the dance club and he could not keep his eyes to his plate or his companions. Hart saw him eyeing you and you felt his hand slink around your midriff to pull you closer.
"It's wonderful of you to be onboard with us Mr. Ainsworth." said the host.
"Its wonderful to be onboard." Hart replied.
"Would you like to dine at your usual table tonight Mr. Ainsworth?"
"Actually I would like to dine at a table for two."
"Right this way."
The host swerved around the tables with us following behind. Many people hailed Hart and you saw a few curious glances cast at you. You reached the table that shimmered with silver and a scene of the sun setting over the watery horizon behind it. The waiter pushed the chair in for you as you sat down with Hart and handed you the menus. The waiter introduced himself and took your orders.
If Hart had one thing it was manners, he made you feel so uncivilized sometimes. And there was a sense of sexuality behind everything he did, the way he talked, smiled, when he would reach for his glass, and drink from it.
The waiter brought the first course, salad.
As the meal went on you talked and laughed with Hart, and each time he spoke you grew more curious about him.
"I dont know anything about you." you stated, almost bluely.
"What do you want to know?" he asked.
"I want to know how old you are, where you live, w-."
"O.k., O.k.."
Hart began to tell you about him as you continued dinner. His full name was Hart Donohue Ainsworth II. He was eighteen. He lived in many different places, even different countries. He was born accidentally in Paris because the doctor had predicted his arrival later on. He was now in progress of choosing a college to enroll in and from his list he had to be very intelligent. He came from a long wealthy line and maybe we was tired of having too easy of a life. From what else he told, you gathered that he had a harder childhood than you first thought. He was an only child and his parents were rarely home. But he never had lack of attention from the opposite sex. Anything exciting or daring that rich beautiful people could do he had done it. He had been places and seen things in his eighteen years that you would never in your lifetime. From this you found respect for him. He was daring and tried anything to get a rush, he had no fears. He was extremely athletic, involved in almost any sport. He was nothing like you had thought.
You were amazed as he spoke about himself and he was enjoying it. You felt a lot better being with him knowing more about him.
After an hour or more of talking dinner was over and Hart wanted to go see a Las Vegas style show in the theatre with you. As you traveled to the theatre, you spied a group of tittering girls passing but paid no attention until they were behind you and one gasped loudly. Harts head circled around and so did yours only to see the girls traipse over.
"My names Lauren." said one girl. Your eyes followed her forefinger as she grazed it up Harts arm to his shoulder. "Whats yours?"
Before he answered he looked back and gave you a sly smile.
"Hart." he answered.
They giggled uncontrollably and repeated his name to each other. Girls even loved his name.
You scoffed at their senseless behavior.
Every one of the girls was touching Hart in some way whether it was holding his hand or coiling their arm around his. The girl named Lauren had moved her hand to Harts chest and was now seductively tugging at his tie.
While all this was happening Hart would catch your eye hoping to see a jealous face. He wasnt even interested in them. He wanted you to know how every girl ached to be with him and that he could have sex with any girl on this ship if he wanted to. He wanted you to know how lucky you were, you could play that game too.
"I'm leaving for the show," you declared. "I'm sure I can find someone else to go with while I do. I'll see you later Hart."
You turned to leave and he whipped around.
"Wait."
You returned his sly smile and kept on.
"Im sorry, but Im in the middle of a date." he told his admirers.
You glanced behind you and saw that they were perplexed for a moment and then slowly looked in your direction. They scrutinized up and down looking for any flaws, and their expressions worsened when they didnt find anything wrong.
He started after you and they whined. He was now bothered by them as he tried to slip away. You rounded the corner and Hart became almost frantic.
Crossing the lobby you listened for any sign of Hart to stop you, but he didnt.
Is he not coming? I dont care. He can stay with them if he wants and get laid like he wants...
You hastened your stride with that thought. The carpet muffled your heels.
"______!"
It was Hart. You pressed on as if you hadn't heard him.
"Stop." he commanded grabbing your arm and wheeling you around to meet his face.
"For what?" you squawked.
"For me."
"To wait 'till you're done flirting?" you said nastily.
He smirked. "You sound like youre jealous."
"No, angry."
Truthfully, you were angry and jealous. But why? This was the person who had made that awful deal with you.
"If I had cared about those girls Id be with them right now." he said.
Was he saying that he cared about you? You were quiet as you tried to figure out exactly what he was saying.
"I'm sorry...will you forgive me?"
No matter how hard you tried to hate him, you couldnt. There was no way. He was handsome, rich, charming, mannerly, romantic, and he wanted to be with you.
"Yes, I forgive you."
His faced relaxed into a smile with relief and satisfaction. He took your hands in his.
"I think I should take you back."
"Why?" you asked.
"Before I ruin the rest of the date."
"You didn't ruin the date." you told him. "Besides its too early."
"Well make up for it tomorrow." he assured.
You left with him for your room.
"Thanks." you said.
"For?"
He really had no idea why you would be grateful.
"The dress." you said. "And the necklace, the shoes, dinner."
"You're welcome." he said smiling. He thought it was cute that you were worrying about it so much. "I told you that we were even with everything, except dinner."
"How can we call dinner even?" you said smiling and stopping at your door.
"Meet me again tomorrow."
"Okay."
Before you went inside you chose to ask him something that you had been wondering about for some time. You twisted your head and you were momentarily stunned. His eyes were striking as he looked down at you standing with his hands in the pockets of his tuxedo. He didnt have a best feature, they were all equally gorgeous. You couldnt pick a favorite.
"There's one last thing I want to know about you." you said.
He looked at you in curiosity and waited for the last question.
"Are you a virgin?"
More importantly, am I a virgin?
He was probably raped! I mean look at him!
Tell me! Tell me! Tell me!

He seemed a little alarmed that you would ask that sort of question.
"No." he answered simply.
You paused and you didnt know why you were surprised by his answer. Of course he wasn't.
"Are you?" he asked.
"Yes."
"How far have you gone with a guy?"
You would have been uncomfortable giving an answer but you didnt have anything to confess.
"I've never really gone anywhere with a guy before."
"You've never been kissed?" he asked with slight astonishment, his eyes boring into you.
"No, ...Ive never been kissed."
You had barely uttered the last words and he stepped closer. His hand went to your face and directed your chin towards him so that your lips were opposite of his. You drew in a sharp little breath as you were overwhelmed by his touch.
"Never?" he asked as his thumb skimmed your lips.
You could feel the heat drifting from his lips as he spoke and it made yours tingle.
"Never." you repeated in a whisper, you cheeks flushing.
You knew you should have stopped him but you wanted it, almost as mush as he did. His mouth came softly down on yours. It was warm and the taste of it was addictive. He pulled away with his eyes fixed on your lips, but he wasnt satisfied. With a sharp move, he encircled your waist and met your lips again, but this time with more meaning, with a violence that frightened and enticed you. His aggression had you pinned between him and the door. There was no space between your bodies. You had barely begun to return his kiss and he pulled away leaving you baffled and breathless.
"Sleep well." he said.
"Bye." you mouthed as he gave another of his dazzling smiles and turned away.
You watched him until he vanished and you realized how easily he had seduced you. As the door shut behind you, the thought of having sex with Hart became more real after every evening you spent with him.
You werent jealous anymore of the girls who had stolen Hart for a moment, but at the girl who he had been his first.
That was the third night on the ship and you have three more left! How much further will you let Hart go?
