Chapter 34.
I woke up earlier than expected. Everyone was still asleep so I climbed out of bed carefully and tiptoed silently out of the bedroom. Only after I took a shower and ordered breakfast from room service, did the guys start to wake up.
"Damn, that smells good," Bryan muttered, wobbling out of the first bedroom.
"Thanks, I made it myself," I grinned and he rolled his eyes at me. "Room service brought it up." Bryan sat at the table in the kitchen and began forking some eggs onto one of the plates I'd set out.
"Uh, don't you have to pay extra for that kind of stuff?" he asked, eyeing me as he continued to take more food. I shrugged
"Apparently not. It's included in the room's costs, along with cable and the movie network." Bryans face lit up and I folded my arms over my chest. "But pay-per-view is extra, so no porn." His face fell and Rob trudged out next, followed by Omar.
The scent of a delicious breakfast seemed to be waking everyone so I got two plates and headed for the bedroom. Max still lay sprawled out over the bed and a sad smile swept my face. I shook off the feeling as I walked over and sat next to him.
"Max," I called, setting my plate down on the nightstand. "Wake up babe." I shook his shoulder with my free hand and his eyes opened drowsily. "Hey," I smiled, helping him to sit up. "I brought you breakfast."
"Thanks," he smiled, eyes still droopy, as he leaned in to give me a quick kiss.
"Morning breath, my fav," I laughed and he shoved my shoulder lightly. I handed him a fork and grabbed my plate as well, placing it on my lap as I shovelled some sausage and eggs into my mouth.
Max and I just sat there together, talking and eating our breakfast, listening to the guys laughing outside our door. I realized how much of an idiot I had been yesterday and, instead of getting upset, I should've been spending as much time with Max as possible. Now I had a feeling it was too late.
"Hey," I said as I finished my pancake. Max looked up at me with a questioning glance and I smiled. "Do you think we could do something today? I mean...just you and me?" He smiled and swallowed what was left of his bacon and rested his hand on my leg.
"You know, I never picked you as the romantic type. What shall it be, a candle lit dinner?" Max was joking around but he had no idea how serious I was. I needed this, badly.
I laughed and forced a smile, thinking that it didn't really matter where we went, as long as I got to spend time with him before he left.
"I was thinking maybe we could take a cab to Venice beach? Walk around, see what there is to see?" Max smiled and gave me a nod.
"Anything would do." I smiled at him and got off the bed, taking our plates back into the kitchen. I set them back onto the serving cart and noticed Brett was staring at me.
"What?" I asked, sitting down next to him as the boys continued to eat.
"Nothing," he said, looking back down at his plate. "Spending the whole day with Max?" he asked, giving me a quick glance. His grin was suggestive and it made me laugh.
"Yeah." I heard the shower running and wondered if there were any fresh towels left.
"Good," he said, giving me a nod. "You guys need it. You hardly spend any time alone together."
"Well, yeah," I started, lowering my voice as I quickly took the defence, "The whole thing with Ronnie and then the guys coming back to town, there wasn't really much time for us to really be alone."
"I know," he smiled and I got up, realizing I had to get dressed into something a little more suited for the weather.
I walked back into the bedroom and shut the door behind me. I grabbed my duffle from the floor and yanked the zipper open, searching for my beachwear. I pulled out a pair of khaki short-shorts, my white wife beater, and my bathing suit top. I pulled them on and topped off the shorts with a pair of suspenders, just to be flashy.
When I turned around to leave Max was standing in the doorway with a towel wrapped around his waist. I smiled at him as he took a step towards me, leaning his face down close to mine. His breath was minty and I smiled as he pressed his lips to mine.
"Better?" he asked, giving me a wicked grin. I smirked back and shrugged my shoulders.
"I don't know. Not quiet sure. Maybe you should put more effort into it." He let out a laugh and wrapped one arm around my waist, pulling me tight into him. He raised his other hand and ran it through my long, flowing hair, resting it on the back of my neck.
I smiled as he leaned in and kissed me with everything he had. His tongue swept my bottom lip and I opened my mouth only slightly. He pushed his tongue inside and massaged mine, still running his hand through my hair.
It was as if an electric shock ran through my legs. The stopped working all together and my knees gave out. Max only tightened his grip, leaning over me as he deepened the kiss. When he finally pulled away I was breathing heavily and sweat was forming on my upper forehead.
"You like that?" he asked and I just stared at him, taking in every curve, muscle, and freckle on his body. I must have been staring for a little too long because Max grabbed my face in his hands and forced me to look up at him. "Hey, you sure there's nothing wrong?" I put on my smile and nodded, giving him one last kiss. I don't want to lose him.
"I just want to go to the beach. Hurry up and get dressed." I took the towel from his waist and gave it a quick pull, laughing as he tried to cover himself. "What? It's nothing I haven't seen before." He laughed and stood up straight, placing his hands firmly on his hips.
"You know you can look whenever you want." He gave me a sly smirk and I bit my lip.
"Go get dressed." He gave me a look that told me what he wanted and I laughed.
"Are you sure that's what you really want?" I laughed and gave him a nod.
"For now." He smiled and turned around, walking over to his duffle. I wound up the towel and whipped his butt cheek lightly, causing him to jump up with a small scream. I laughed as he glared playfully and I tossed the towel at him. "Meet me at the door." Max gave me a nod and I opened the door a crack, slipping out carefully.
Passing the kitchen I saw that the guy had all had their fill. The plates were stacked messily on the cart and I felt sympathetic for the bus boy. I looked over my shoulder and saw each of them sitting on the large couch and floor, watching what appeared to be wrestling.
"You guys are idiots," I muttered, shaking my head as I slipped on my shoes. Max walked out of the bedroom sporting a pair of long, black shorts and a Rancid tank. I smiled at him as he walked over and pulled on his shoes.
"Have fun you two," the guys teased in sing-song voices, but I ignored them. Today was going to be just about me and Max.
