I Never Thought [Vampires] Existed [[Until]] o1 [The Meeting Of]
Chapter 4 : I Never Thought [Vampires] Existed [[Until]] o4 [Secrets Revealed]
The next day she was forced to go school shopping with her sister for new clothes. It wasn't as big as a deal as it was when she was younger, in fact Stephanie didn't want to go at all. Her mother gave them each a decent amount of money then shoved them out the front door. Parked in the drive way was a blue car that her sister and her shared. Stephanie climbed into the passenger seat as her sister sat in the drivers seat and began to put the car in reverse.
"Okay, so I promised that I'd meet Eddie by the food court, so we should head there first." Kara planned looking at the road in front of her. Stephanie sighed. "What?" Kara asked annoyed.
"Do I seriously have to hang out with you and your boyfriend all day?" She asked looking out the window.
"Not if you don't want to." She said snottily. "Just meet me at the puppy store around six."
A few minutes later they arrived at the mall and Kara jetted off to the food court while Stephanie just put her hands in her jacket pockets and walked around and finally stopped at a shoe store. After five minutes of looking she walked off without anything.
This, she could tell, was going to be hard. She had always had a hard time spending money on things she didn't necessarily need.
She now walked into a clothing store and went straight to the shirts. There were a different verity of coloured shirts with different bands names.
"Why hello, what a fancy seeing you here." Said a deep dark voice. She turned around quickly and say Nathan standing about a step back from her.
"Why'd you have to scare me like that. And what are you doing here?" She answered wonderingly.
"I was bored so I thought I might check up on you. See what you were doing. Which is-"
"Shopping for new school clothes. I came with my sister, but she left to go be with her boyfriend." She rolled her eyes then faced back to the shirts. "I think I'm going to get that one, but I don't know if I should waste any money on it. I have one that's sort of like that so I'm not-"
"Buy it." He interrupted looking at the rest of the store. The walls where painted black and the only lights where either red or a blinding white. Clothes where every where, mostly black, but some of the shirts where white, pink, blue or yellow.
"Okay?" She found her size and held it up to her. It was definitely a size too big, but she could care less than to look through all the shirts just to find her exact size.
She left the store with three shirts. All were black but one had a white cat on the front and below it read 'Play nice, chicken rice' one of her favorite bands. Another one had a skeleton on it in a top hat but didn't say anything. The last one had yellow writing that read 'Hazed' which was another of her favorite bands.
"So where are we headed now?" He asked.
"There's a pretty good store over to the right that has jeans."
"Jeans. It's the middle of summer."
She shrugged and walked over to the store called Fort Down. Inside a lady came to greet them, but then got a look at Nathan and turned back around.
"You scare people you know."
"It's a mall. I fit in with half the people here." He answered.
She walked over to the jeans and Nathan fallowed. After a half an hour they left the store with four pairs of skinny jeans and twenty dollars left. Two of the jeans where black and the other two where light blue and and dark blue.
"You want to head over to the food court? We have a half an hour to kill." She asked looking at him.
"I don't care, but I don't want anything to eat." He answered looking over every one passing as if every one was an ex crimanal.
They made there way to the food court and Stephanie waited in line at the Pow Pizza while Nathan went to find a table. He had took all her shopping bags with him so she only had the twenty dollars to buy her pizza.
"Stephanie, is that you?" A voice came over the noise of people. She turned her head and saw Jessica and Angie, two of the people she hung out with at her school. "I thought it was. You busy? We were just going to hit up a few stores." Jessica offered.
"Oh, I'm done shopping. Just getting pizza." She answered quietly.
"Oh then we'll eat with you. Where's your bags?" Angie asked.
"I'm actually with some one." she answered even more quietly.
"Who, your sister?" Angie asked.
"N-not exactly, she gave me a ride then we split up." She answered almost in a whisper.
"Then who are you with?" Jessica asked curiously.
"M-my friend."
"We have to meet her, where is she?" Angie asked looking around.
"Um, well he's not very social." She answered though she had no clue if he was or not. From what she could guess he wasn't.
"He?!" They both said at the same time.
"What would you like, miss?" A person behind the counter asked.
"One slice of cheese please. And a small drink." She added then looked toward Jessica and Angie again.
"Who is he? Is he your boyfriend? Where's he? Can I meet him?"
"He doesn't like other people very much, especially people he doesn't know, so maybe next time? I promise I'll call you and give details." She dodged all there annoying questions then paid the cashier.
"Okay, you better call." And they walked off.
Relived she took her change and went to find Nathan. He wasn't that hard to find, in a crowed mall. Even if he did fit in with one eight the people there. She sat down across from him and ducked down slightly in her chair. Jessica and Angie no where in sight.
"What's the matter?" He asked. "I could leave if you-"
"No!" She said too quickly. "It's just I sort of ran into my friends and, well, let's just say they're really excited to meet you."
He laughed slightly, but it wasn't a normal cheery laugh. It was a laugh that sounded as if filled with distaste. "I understand." She sat up a little straighter when she was certain they went around and took a small bite from her slice of pizza. "What are we doing after this?" He asked looking at the other people seated around them.
She shrugged then chewed her food. "I have to go meet up with my sister again so we can go home. It's only five fifty so we don't have to leave until a few minutes." She said grabbing her soda and taking a sip.
"Then I'll leave in few minutes." He answered. "But, I'll stop by later." He added before she could ask.
She finished her food and he left her to walk to the pet store where she found her sister and Eddie looking at the puppies.
Eddie had been Kara's boyfriend since Kara was a freshman, but Stephanie never really liked him. He wore his pants too low and his shirts were too baggy. He didn't own a belt and constantly had to stay after school for detention, but I guess you fall in love with who you fall in love with.
"Finally you're here. Eddie's staying over for dinner." Kara said. "I'm going to ride in his car, so you can drive yourself home." She added handing her the car keys. "See ya at home." She walked out of the store and Stephanie fallowed.
Once at home she began trying on all her new clothes making sure they fit and then neatly put them away. She turned on some music and began to draw in her notebook while her mom made spaghetti down stairs for dinner. Kara was in her room with Eddie and her dad was at work still.
After a half hour of drawing dinner was ready and she walked down stairs to the dinner table. She sat down across from Eddie and Kara and her mom and dad, who just got back from work, sat on the sides of the table. They talked about what they had gotten at the mall and Stephanie left as soon as she could.
She too a short shower and changed to her pajama bottoms an a tank top then walked into her room and continued to draw.
"I've never see some one draw so much." A voice said in her room. She didn't even have to look, she already knew it was Nathan.
"Thank you?" She said closing her notebook.
"I have to leave soon, I have. . .plans. But I wanted to stop by to ask you something." He stated.
"Shoot." She said giving him all her attention now. He looked down towards the ground.
"Stephanie, I-" he stopped to gather his thoughts. "Stephanie, it's weird, this never happened to me before. I. . .I get this feeling with you, that no one has ever given me before. It feels. . . .good." He said, his words slow and not connected. "I can't stop thinking about you, I can't stop wanting to be with you. Stephanie, what would you call that?" He asked.
"L-Love." She stuttered.
"Than Stephanie, I love you." He said looking up into her hazel eyes.
