Shikamaru's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I wish I was a cloud," I said, "I'd never have any worries or anything, and I'd just go the way the wind blew me. It would be a much easier lifestyle."
I walked down the hill, going to my favourite spot that I went to almost everyday to look at the clouds, when I was interuppted by a tap on the shoulder.
"What," I said as I turned around and saw a girl about my age standing there. She had light brown hair with part of it braided, and a very interesting outfit on with what looked like a drum on her back and a strange horn mechonism in her hand. She had no makeup on, which I thought was totally weird. Don't most girls have makeup? She introduced herself as Terea Ichigo, even though I wasn't really paying attention.
"What a drag," I thought, "I wanted to come down here to relax and now I have this overly-peppy girl talking to me."
Tarea's POV
~~~~~~~~
"What's your name," I asked, after introducing myself politely. The boy didn't seem very enthusiastic, but I was still curious about him. For some reason, I felt like I needed to know him..
"Shikamaru," he said.
"What?" I questioned, after getting lost in my thoughts.
"My name," he sighed, "Shikamaru."
"Oh," you giggled. He looked away.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him. I had come to relax and play my lute, and here he was, some strange boy who I had never seen before but I was strangely attracted to. Did I really just think that?

Tarea blushed at the thought. Shikamaru looked at her like she was a complete freak of nature.
"The question is," he replied to her question, "What are you doing here? I always come down here to relax. I've never seen you here before."
"Oh well," Tarea said, returning to a normal state of mind, "I'm new here, I didn't know this was your spot! I'll leave, if you want."
Shikamaru sighed and thought.
"It's fine, I'll leave," Tarea said as she started to turn around.
"No, it's fine," he said, "You can stay if you really want to."
"Cool!" she said.

Shikamaru's POV

"Great," I thought, "Here comes the peppy again."
We walked down the hill together, and she propped herself up on a rock. I looked at her. I didn't notice how pretty she was before, but it was a very diffrent kind of pretty. A more natural-looking pretty. She didn't have makeup on, after all. I had gotten so used to looking at Ino with all her lipstick and eyeliner and other crazy crap drawn all over her face. It was like a refreshment to see something less complicated. I snapped back into reality as I realized I had been looking at her a little too longer then I should have. She only just seemed to notice.
"What?" she asked kindly.
"Um..uh," I said, fumbling to get the words out of my mouth, "It's nothing, nothing.."
"Alrighty, then," she said cheerfully. I sat down next to the rock she was on and looked at the clouds. They looked exceptional today. Time flew by and I soon found myself lying in the grass next to Tarea, talking about the diffrent shapes the clouds were in.

Tarea's POV

"Wow," I said, looking at the sun's position, "We've been here for almost 4 hours."
"Holy.." Shikamaru replied, "we best get going!"
The two of you stood up clumsily and you wiped off the grass stains on your clothes.
"Maybe we can do this again, sometime," you said, trying to break the akward silence between the two of you.
"Sure," Shikamaru said, not sounding too optomistic. You figured that's how he always was.

Third-Person Time!

The two of them went to that spot the same time every day for 3 months, and they got to be very good friends. Shikamaru couldn't believe he had gotten so close to a random girl he met. People he knew were starting to tease him about him and his "Girlfriend." Naruto, Ino, and Kiba basically nagged about it 24/7. But did it bother him really that much? He had never thought about it that way.

Shikamaru's POV

I sighed as you finished up the sentence I was just saying. Me and Tarea just lay there, our heads propped against one anothers.
"Um..Shikamaru?" Tarea said, with an uncertainy in her voice.
"Yeah?" I replied.
"I'm going away in two days on a mission, and I don't know when I'll be back. It might take a month to a year or two."
I looked at her, not believing what I was hearing. I sat up. She did to.
"I wanted to tell you earlier, but I couldn't because I was afraid you might," she started, "I was afraid you might.."
I looked at her with demanding eyes, and realized I was being to aggresive. I sofened my gaze upon her, and realized she had a stream of tears coming out her eyes. I thought about the first time I met her, walking down that hill. I just thought she was some girl. But she wasn't. We had been coming to this exact spot for almost three months. And that's when it hit me. I felt a strange feeling tingling throughout my entire body, and I shivered. Was this what it felt like? What..love..felt like?
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tarea's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I cried silently. I never thought this would be the moment I told him how I felt, how the first time I ever saw him, a stange, young boy who I never knew attracted me so much?
"I was afraid you wouldn't feel the same way I do, and I couldn't tell you until before I left because I was afraid of your reaction to me, because I..I..I-"
I was cut off as I felt something moist press against my lips, and I opened your eyes, which were drowned with tears to realize that Shikamaru was kissing me. He did feel the same way after all! I gasped but kissed him back, throwing my hands over his shoulders. I cried, and I realized he was crying too. And after what seemed like ten billion years, we both let go of eachother.

Shikamaru's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, much to my dismay, Tarea left for her mission. She was gone only about 1 year when I found out she had been fatally wounded, and would not live much longer. As quickly as I possibly could go, I ran to her side, as I saw her on her deathbed.
"Shikamaru," she said weakly.
"Yes, yes, I'm here," I said.
"I love you," she said.
I looked at her softly and kissed her on the forehead.
"Do you know what I said about 1 minute before I met you?" I asked.
"No, what?" she said, her voice cracking.
"I said I wished I was a cloud, never have any worries and would just go the way the wind blew me."
"That would be an anti-climactic lifestyle, never having any friends or anyone to spend time with," her voice cracked again.
"You're right," I said.
"Do you take it back?"
"Tarea," I said as I cradled her limp body in my arms, "I think I took it back the moment I met you."
She smiled and gave her final breath gently, silently muttering my name. I kissed her one last time, and cried.
