I'm sure you know about September 11, so I am not going to describe what happened on that horrid day. [If you don't, go here.]
I was only ten years old, sitting in my 5th grade classroom, confused as hell, listening to the radio that my teacher turned on. I knew that something bad happened, that a plane had crashed somewhere in New York City, but that was all the information we were given.
I remember how one-by-one my classmates were being called to the office, getting picked up by their frantic parents, till there were only 10 children left in the room, including myself.
By that time I was scared stiff. I finally have gotten a grip on what happened, about the terrorists, and kept imagining a plane destroying my elementary school as well.
Later that day, when I was sitting safely at home, my Mom told me that she spoke with her friend in New York, and she said that the streets, cars, sidewalks were all covered in black ash. My Mom also told me that her friend lost a couple of friends who worked at the World Trade Center.
To this day I don't understand how there can be so much hatred in this world. How many people, innocent people, not just our troops [I live in USA], are getting killed in Iraq. Not to mention gang activity, murders, suicide bombings, and more that are happening all around us.
When it comes down to it, we are all humans, no matter what our race is, or what our beliefs are.
Would you kill your mother? Your father? Your sister or brother? Your friend? I know I wouldn't, and I don't understand how people who spread the hatred, the sorrow, can stand the guilt, knowing that they deprived someone of their loved one.
Today, no matter how much your family, your friends pissed you off lately, tell them that you love them. And mean it. You never know, maybe it will be the last chance you will get.
WARNING: Please don't watch these videos if you get upset easely. By the end of the first one, I was bawling my eyes out, and that was a few months ago too, on a day that had nothing to do with 9/11.
