I arrived at school. When I walked in, I head straight for the bathroom. When I looked in the mirror, I saw that my eyes were red and puffy and it seemed my face was stuck in a frown. I washed my face, and smiled at the mirror. I scoffed at how forced it looked. I heard someone open the door to and looked to see who it was.
"Hi, CJ." Sadie smiled.
"Hey." I smiled. Then I quickly turned away, remembering how dumb I had looked in the mirror.
"Kryian’s waiting for us at the lockers." Sadie said, fluffing her white blonde hair in the mirror.
"Okay." I said walking out of the bathroom. She walked beside me.
"What’s wrong?" She asked, looking at me. I got butterflies and quickly replied, "Nothing."
"So me, Seth and Kyrian want to go to the Pizza Place for lunch today." Sadie said, "And of course you too."
"Yeah," I said, "I’ll go."
We walked to our lockers and I saw Kyrian standing there flattening his black hair to his head.
"CJ’s coming to lunch with us today," Sadie told him. I looked everywhere but Kyrian, positive that if he saw my eyes, he’d know I was crying.
"Well I’m going to go fine Seth." Sadie said, "So meet me here at lunch alright?"
Me and Kyrian nodded.
"And cheer up, grumpy." She smiled to me. Then she walked down the hallway and out of sight.
I knew I had to eventually look at Kyrian or else he would become suspicious anyway.
I sighed, and turned to look at him. Before I could blink he was wrapping me in his arms. In a hug. I hugged back lightly, feeling my face blush. He let go and smiled.
"What-what was that for?" I asked breathlessly, hoping I wasn’t still blushing.
He shrugged, "Just because."
I smiled at him nervously. Then the bell rang.
"So you’re coming with us at lunch then?’ Kyrian asked.
"Yeah." I replied, closing my locker.
"Alright." He smiled, "See you later."
"Bye."
As I walked to class thoughts erupted in my head.
"It was only a hug. I mean we’ve been friends forever and friends give hugs. It’s not like I made out with him or anything, it was just a friendly hug. I mean he’s cute and he’s nice, but he’s definitely not for me. We’ve been friends too long to become anything more than that. If anything were to happen between us it would have happened alre-"
"CJ!"
I turned my head in all directions to see who was calling me. Then I turned to my right and saw Anna and Beth from my fitness class. I stopped walking to wait for them.
"Hi." I said.
"We’re doing gym for the rest of the week, CJ." Anna said as we started to walk again.
"Yeah…?" I said, confused, "We’ve always done gym."
"No," Beth smiled, "We’ve done fitness. Mr.kesik’s taking us outside all week for gym. Like games.
‘Oh." I said, slightly surprised, "Well thanks for the heads up."
Anna and Beth looked at eachother, smirked and looked back at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Mr.Kesik is teaching us." Anna smiled.
"I know," I said, slightly annoyed, "You already told me… oh-look."
They giggled.
"I don’t have a crush on the guy, alright?" I finished irritably.
Anna and Beth smirked again. I stood in the doorway to my classroom.
"Look," I sighed, "I don’t like him. I think he’s cute- you do too! I added as they smiled at eachother- I don’t even know why I’m having this conversation, how many more times-"
"CJ, I believe this is your classroom?" My teacher called from inside the room.
"Coming!" I called back. I turned back at the two giggling girls. "Look the guy’s like, fourty years old and-"
"Twenty-three." Beth corrected me.
"Wha- have you been like, interrogating the guy or something?" I asked.
"Jealous?"
I cried out in frustration and they stepped back. I walked into my classroom. I heard them call out, "I love you CJ! We love you!"
I turned around and smirked at them, waving.
I sat down in my chair. It was true. I didn’t like Mr.Kesik. Something about him made me want to know more about him, but I didn’t like him.
I turned and noticed the guy that sat next to me was looking at me.
He smiled at me. I returned the smile and looked away.
