Chapter 37 : More Than Meets the Eye [Ron Weasley Story] --Part 35
TRIST
It had been a week since I'd called it quits with Harry. He and I were over it now, and we hung out most of the time like we used to... just now as friends. I still talk to him about everything, and he still turns to me for company. We sometimes even still hold each other's hands (but that's only on rare occasions when we really need to. It was just nice to physically hold someone when you truly feel lost). And I still love seeing him smile. It was contagious.
One late afternoon, I made my way to the library to find a book I needed for a Care Of Magical Creatures report. In the library, I went over to the 'Magical Creatures' section and started scanning a bookshelf. But then I heard some familiar voices. I walked to the end of the shelf and leaned over to get a better look around the corner. Right there, just ten feet away, sat Harry and Ginny at a table. It looked like they were just studying, but, knowing Ginny, it was about to turn into a flirting convention. This was just like her. She was a determined person who'd do anything to get what she wanted; she'd seize every moment and turn it around in her favor. I listened closely.
"I know, Harry," Ginny said, giving the word 'Harry' a little melody, "isn't that fascinating?"
"Yeah," Harry replied. The syllable was blunt. He is so uninterested.
She shook it off. "Anyway, do you want to get together some time again? Maybe next time we could just... talk."
She twirled a lock of her red hair around her small finger. Classic.
"Uh... sure," Harry said, squirming a bit. He collected his books and got up. "Well, I'll see you later."
He turned around and walked down the aisle toward me. I quickly ducked behind the bookshelf and pretended to look at a book. Little did I know, Harry was looking for a 'Magaical Creatures' book, too, since we had the same class with Hagrid.
He turned into my aisle, and we came face-to-face.
"Oh, hey, Harry," I said, casually.
"Hey, Trist," Harry replied. "What are you looking for?"
"I was just looking for a book on the Polish Blue-Tail Dragon for that report we have to do," I informed him. "What about you?"
"Yeah, same here," he agreed.
I took out a book from the shelf. "Here's one."
I flipped through it, making sure the information inside was adequate. Meanwhile, Harry found a book of his own. We took the texts to the front desk and signed them out.
We walked out of the library together and started talking.
"So, you and Ginny back there..." I began.
"You saw?" Harry asked.
I laughed. "Yeah."
"So what did you think?" he inguired, curious.
"Well, I thought Ginny was doing pretty good, but you need to keep up. You need to do your share of the flirting."
Harry chuckled. "I guess I just need a little more practice."
"You'll get your chance on your next date," I said.
"That was NOT a date," he denied.
"Sure.." I said, sarcastically.
"Well, I have to go talk to Trelawney about some homework," Harry said.
"Okay," I said, "I have to go meet Hermione, anyway."
We looked at each other for awhile. It was a little awkward, just a little. Then, before we knew it, we leaned in and gave each other a quick peck on the lips.
"Uh, sorry..." Harry apologized.
"It's fine," I said.
"Um...How about one more?... For the last time," Harry asked.
I nodded. I really didn't want our relationship to end; but for a minute, our frienship was going to stop and turn into love again. Even if it was just for a moment.
We leaned in toward each other again and kissed.
For the last time.

I walked down from my room and saw Hermione and Trist studying in the common room. Fred had told me what had happened between Trist and Harry the night of the break up.
I was about to split (since it would've been weird if Hermione started flirting with me in front of her), but they had already seen me coming down.
"I see you're busy with some more schoolwork," I said. "I don't even know why you bother."
"No wonder your N.E.W.Ts are so horrible," Hermione said. "But I'll help you if you want."
She smiled at me. Oh, no, I thought. She's flirting with me.
"Anyway," I said, trying to change the subject, "I'll just sit here and watch you guys study."
"Maybe you'll learn something," Trist joked.
I laughed. Somehow, it didn't seem offensive when Trist made fun of my grades. I admired Trist's intellect more than Hermione's because she didn't prance around, showing it off all the time.
I sat down on the nearest couch and stared at Trist, while Hermoine stared at me. When she followed my gaze to Trist, I quickly looked away and pretended to pick out some dirt from under my fingernail.
Then, the door to the common room opened. It was Ginny.
