Lucia was disgusted.

In mere minutes her living room went from calm to chaos.

Beer cans.

Red plastic cups.

Articles of clothing.

It was a zoo- no, It was a circus.

Lucia stomped into the kitchen, and spotted her brother.

"Alex," She screamed.

He ignored her.

"Alexander."

No response.

"Alexander William!"

At this point her brother turned around from the girl he was talking to, and glared, "Yes, Lucia Marie?"

"What the hell is going on?" She hissed. "I have a Calc test I need to be studying for."

"Then study?" Alex said getting annoying with his younger sister.

"I can't possibly study with this racket," Lucia hissed. "Mom and Dad are going to kill you."

"Mom and Dad aren't going to know."

Lucia let out a frustrating sigh, and grabbed a trash bag.

She could at least try to pick the place up.

The people in the living room seemed to multiply by the time she went back in.

And she was pretty sure people were procreating on the couch.

Lucia looked away in disgust, and began to pick up random cups sprawled across the floor.

Her brother was in a band.

His band liked to party.

You think Lucia would be used to this by now.

But, she wasn't.

Especially on a night that she needed to study for a Calculus test that could determine if she graduated.

The cups on the floor seemed to be multiplying faster than the people.

"You filthy slobs," Lucia muttered.

"Don't insult me, Lucia!"

"Go die, Jack."

Jack stuck his tongue out at her, and Lucia walked away.

She set the trash bag on the floor, and trudged her way upstairs.

She opened her door, and luckily found her room empty.

She grabbed her Calc book off of her desk, a pen, a note book, and her ipod, and walked back down stairs.

She pushed past the group of people, and out the back door.

She walked down the porch steps, and over to the yard swing that was placed by a small brook in her backyard.

She let out a loud sighed, and opened her book.

Lucia was a straight A student.

She didn't need to study.

But, she liked to.

It helped her escape, and right now all she wanted to do was escape.

"Is this seat taken?"

Lucia didn't bother to look up, "If I say yes will you leave?"

"No."

Lucia looked up, and met the face of a smiling boy.

"I'm Paul."

"I don't care."

"Aggravated are we?" He said sitting down.

"Slightly."

"How can I help?"

"You could leave."

"I don't see that happening."

Lucia rolled her eyes, and looked back at her Calculus book.

"Calculus is no fun."

"Tell me about it."

Paul sat there quietly for a few minutes before interrupting her again, "Are going to tell me your name?"

"Do you need to know my name?"

"It would make this a whole lot less awkward."

"So wouldn't you leaving," She smiled.

"Sassy."

"No, my name is Lucia."

"That's a pretty name."

"I don't like it much," She mumbled.

"So, Lucia, why are you here? You obviously don't want to be."

"I live here."

"You live with Alex?"

"Normally that's what siblings do."

"You look nothing like him."

Lucia laughed, "I think that's the best compliment I've ever gotten."

"You aren't too fond of parties, are you?"

"Not really. I don't see the point in getting drunk off your ass, and sleeping with some random slut."

"I'm not a big partier, either," Paul said taking a sip out of his cup. "But, my band is."

"Oh, you're a band boy," Lucia rolled her eyes.

"Is that a bad thing?"

"I live with one," Lucia started. "You're all the same."

"Alex is a really good friend of mine, but trust me...I've slept with a lot less girls than he has."

"That's reassuring," Lucia laughed, closing her book.

"Does the closing of the book mean you want to talk to me?"

"Depends what you want to talk about."

"I like music."

"I like music too," Lucia laughed.

"What's your favorite band?"

"I don't have a favorite band. I like a lot of bands."

Paul nodded.

"Do you like touring?"

"Yes, but I miss home a lot."

"Where is home?"

"Boston."

"I went to Boston on a school trip," Lucia said. "I really liked it there."

"It's a really nice city to grow up near."

Lucia smiled.

She didn't know this boy at all.

But just talking to him made her feel like she was on cloud nine.

"What kind of music does your band play?"

"The good kind," Paul laughed, but soon a sly grin appeared on his face. "Hold on."

Paul got up from the swing, and ran out of the backyard.

Lucia was confused, but went back to studying for her Calculus test, but she was soon interrupted by Paul sitting down, but this time he had an acoustic guitar in hand.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm not the lead singer. So, I don't know if I can do this justice."

Lucia grinned.

"It's too late baby, there's no turning around. I got my hands in my pocket and my head in a cloud. This is how I do when I think about you," Paul sang.

And it was then, and there that Lucia knew...

Paul DiGiovanni wasn't just another boy in a band.
