Cast No Shadow (Noel Gallagher) Chapter 3- Taste of Fame

An hour later, Maggie returned to grab the boys up and give the girls their passes. Hailey just about had a panic attack when she found out that they were going to be on the side of the stage. They had to run to the back entrance to the backstage area, since a few fans had spotted them in the casino. Shivers ran up Kit's spine when Noel grabbed her hand and got her through the crowd. What made things worse was the band of reporters that were chasing them trying to get pictures. Liam of course gave them a few choice words before they disappeared backstage.
Once they were back to safety, they all went into a big congregation room where the rest of the band was waiting. Kit and Hailey watched while the band got ready to go out on stage. They could hear the crowd out there already. The noise was unbelievable.
Kit sat back on a couch and watched the band and all the other crewmembers run around checking last minute details. She thought back to Noel telling her she should move to New York with him. Hailey sat down next to her and smiled, "I can't believe how lucky you are!"
Kit looked at her a bit confused, "What are you talking about?"
"Oh please, Noel Gallagher just approaches you in the theater and asks you to hang out with him! He's apparently got a thing for ya!"
You smirked, "That or he's interested in something else..."
Hailey cut her off, "I doubt it, but if he was, would you?"
Kit smiled, "In a heartbeat."
Hailey looked at her with a shocked expression on her face. Kit laughed, "Hailey, it could be a once in a life time opportunity, so yes, I would take full advantage of it!"
Hailey nodded and agreed, "Yeah, I see your point. I probably would too."
The girls laughed and watched Liam yelling at a stagehand because his tambourine wasn't on the stage.
Kit continued to tell Hailey the entire story of her chance meeting with Noel, and everything that they talked about in the Cafe.
"There is one other thing though."
Hailey was interested, "What?"
Kit smiled and lowered her voice, "He told me that I should come to New York with him."
Hailey almost jumped, "WHAT?!"
"Shhhhh...yeah, he was asking me why I didn't move with my ex, and I told him it was to a place I really didn't want to live, and that I liked being on the coast. He suggested New York and he just flat out said that I could move up there with him if I liked."
"Holy shit girl, are you serious?"
"Yes, so I started joking around with him saying I would just go start packing, and he said I should at least some to visit first to make sure I liked it there. Before we could continue the conversation, Liam showed up. Now that I think about it, maybe he was just kidding."
Hailey shrugged her shoulders, "Maybe, but did he act like he was?"
"I don't know, I guess I really don't know him that well yet. But from what I do know, it didn't seem like an act."
Kit sat back and thought about it. Was he being serious, or was he just trying to make conversation? She had never lived anywhere else before, but always wanted the chance to. If she really did have the option to move anywhere with Noel Gallagher should would go for it. She decided not to think about it too much, so she wouldn't be too disappointed when he told her it was a joke. She figured she wouldn't bring it up unless he did first.
A few minutes before show time, Maggie took the girls out to the side of the stage and showed them where to stand.
Hailey peeked around the curtain, "Oh my god Kit, there are so many people out there!"
Kit smiled and took a look for her self, "And just think, this isn't even a big crowd for them, they're used to playing arenas!"
The girls both became silent as the lights in the room became dim. The stage was completely engulfed in darkness and the band appeared behind the girls nearly scaring them half to death.
They made their way onto the stage, but Noel stayed behind. He whispered into Kit's ear, "Don't go too far."
Kit smiled, "Trust me, I'm not going anywhere. Good luck."
Noel smiled, "Thanks." He kissed her quickly on her forehead and headed out to the stage.
Hailey smiled, "Oooooo...I saw that."
Kit punched her and laughed. The girls watched the stage and heard Noel's unmistakable guitar chords to "The Swamp Song." The rest of the band joined in, the lights began flashing, and the crowd went wild.
A few songs later, Kit and Hailey were having a great time. They stood off to the side and sang along with every song. Occasionally they would step out a bit so the screaming girls in the front row could give them evil stares. They were enjoying every minute of making them jealous. Kit felt like she was getting her own little bit of stardom. Kit had to mentally thank Noel for not letting her stand down there. Then she would be nothing more than just a fan at the show that would later leave the concert, get in her car, and go home for the night. Instead she would be getting the chance to see him again after they were done playing. Maggie stopped over every once in a while to check in on things, and once to bring the girls a bottle of water since it was a bit warm up on the stage with all the lights and electrical equipment. Kit was beaming inside when Noel stepped up to the mike to sing "Step Out." He later got up to sing "Don't Look Back in Anger," one of her favorites.
Noel was glad that he'd played these songs over and over for years. His hands pretty much led the way, and he could focus his thoughts on Kit. He kept stealing glances at her all through their set. He was then glad that Liam had decided to show up so he wouldn't be exceptionally nervous and have to sing the entire night. He figured his voice would have been shit if he'd gone through that torture. He was actually ready for the show to be over so he could go relax a bit and see her again. He knew for a fact that he wasn't ready to get on that plane the next morning and go back to New York.
They played for an hour and a half. They finished up with the Beatles cover of "I Am The Walrus" like they usually did. As they hit the final notes Maggie walked over with a pile of towels and smiled, "They can be awfully sweaty boys."
Kit giggled, "I can imagine!" She grabbed Hailey and they moved back while the band started to file in.
Liam threw a towel around his neck, "Fuck man, I'm ready for a drink!"
Noel walked up behind him, and shoved him gently, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, move it will ya?" He smiled and threw his arm around Kit, "So, how was it?"
She smiled and immediately got butterflies again, "Fantastic, too bad it's over." She grabbed the towel he was holding and threw it on his head, "I think you need to hit the showers!"
He laughed, "What, you don't want me to be sweaty all night? I don't smell that bad do I?"
Kit giggled, "Well actually I kinda like it, turns me on a bit."
Noel's eyes lit up, "Oh really?" He then began to rub his face, hair, and arms on her.
She laughed, "Augh! Not that much!" She started to run off, but Noel chased her down. He grabbed her and practically threw her over his shoulder.
"Noel! Put me down!" She managed to get out through a fit of giggles. Hailey ran up behind them and Kit reached out her arms, "Hailey, help!"
Hailey shook her head, "No way, you asked for it!"
Noel finally put her down once they were back in the room behind the stage.
Kit and Hailey stood back and talked to Maggie for a bit while the band signed autographs and took pictures with some of the lucky fans that recieved the chance to make it backstage. After about an hour, everyone could tell that Liam was ready to get out of there. Besides the fact that he was pacing like a caged tiger, he continually came over to Maggie to ask her when the hell they could get out of there.
Maggie shook her head, "That boy is incredible. He's got a one-track mind that one does. At least he's not drinking as bad as he used to though, it's made things a lot more pleasant around here!
"He used to be worse then?" Hailey asked.
Maggie nodded, "Oh yes, he used to drink all day and night. Now he's down to only a couple after the gigs, if that. Noel's even better off than 'em. He barely even drinks anymore. It's a good change for both of them though."
"Talking about me over 'ere are we?" Noel smiled as he walked up to the girls.
Maggie nodded, "Of course, I've been telling them tons of lies about you."
"Well just make sure they're good ones, will ya?"
Liam ran up to Noel and the girls, "This place is dead, everyone's going to this club up in the penthouse, you coming?"
Noel nodded and grabbed Kit's hand, "Sure, but I'm going up to my room first. Aren't you going to shower?"
Liam shook his head and smiled, "Nah mate, I've got to keep me rock star image, come on love, lets go have a pint." He threw his arm around Hailey who seemed a bit stunned. She just smiled, "I'll see you up there Kit!" They walked out with a few others into the casino.
Noel shook his head, "That boy is hopeless. Would you like to come up to my room with me will I get cleaned up?"
Kit figured it was better to stick with him then risk getting separated, "Sure."

Security escorted them to the back elevators up to his room. Once inside Noel went off to the back, and Kit took a few minutes to check out the suite. The bedroom was separated by a sitting room and small kitchen. She sat on the couch and decided to flip on the TV. It felt like she had been in a dream all night. First meeting Noel, having lunch with him, watching the show from the side stage, and now she was in his hotel room. Not long after that Noel walked out of his room in clean clothes.
"Well that was fast."
Noel ran a towel through his hair then threw it over a chair, "I didn't want to keep you waiting."
Kit stood up, walked over to him, and grabbed the towel, "Well at least dry your hair off better than that!" She rubbed his hair to get it a bit drier and then pulled a brush out of her purse, "You want to look presentable don't you?"
He laughed while she pretended to be his stylist, "Damn, I need you out on the road with us, you'd take care of me!"
Kit smiled and finished fixing his hair. He was taller than her, even in her heels, so she had to stand on her tiptoes to reach. Noel looked down into her brown eyes and for a moment forgot all about going to the club. Kit ran her hand through the back of his hair one last time before looking into is crystal blue eyes. They were so close to each other she could feel his breath on her lips. How bad they both wanted to kiss each other, but for some reason, neither of them made the attempt. They stood there in silence for a minute before Kit spoke up.
"We should get to the club."
Noel blinked, "Uh yeah, they probably thought we got lost."
They walked out of his room and he grabbed her hand as they headed to the elevators. Once on the top floor, they were escorted into the club called Rise and away from the barrage of fans that figured out where the after party was. They spotted Liam, Hailey and the rest of the band.
Kit and Hailey enjoyed sitting back and watching the occasional fans walk over for autographs. Liam and Noel must have been in exceptionally good mood, since they were sucking up every bit of attention they received that night. Kit didn't want the night to end, and even as Noel leaned back in the booth, smiled, and put his arm around her, she knew it eventually would.
