Two g.irls stood impatiently near an open door. They were at their high school, waiting for their friends to show up. Tonight was the talent show, and they didn't want to miss out on it.
"Where's Skye?"
"I don't know. I thought you were picking her up."
"No, she called me yesterday saying that she was getting a ride from you. Now we're going to miss the talent show!"
"Hey, Ithiela, Wendy!" Another g.irl, Sarah, came running towards them. "Where's Skye?"
Ithiela turned to her friend. "I thought Wendy was going to pick her up. We're going to miss the talent show if we go and pick her up."
"Well, we can't watch it without her," Wendy said, glancing around. She spotted a car coming around the corner of the school. It looked very familiar.
"Hey, that's Skye's car!" Sarah exclaimed.
They watched eagerly as the car of their fourth friend rolled up beside the school.
"Hey, guys!" Skye said, stepping out of the passenger seat. "Is it too late?"
In the driver's seat was her mom. Ithiela and Wendy looked at each other. So Skye did manage to get a ride.
"We thought you said your mom was going to a meeting and your dad was on business vacation," Ithiela said to Skye.
"My mom canceled her meeting," Skye answered. "And besides, no one came to pick me up."
Ithiela, Wendy, and Sarah chuckled nervously.
"Yeah, sorry about," Ithiela said, looking away.
Skye smiled. "No prob. So let's go and see the show!"
She waved goodbye to her mom, and the four friends entered the school's auditorium.
They found empty seats in the front. The show had not yet started, and more people were coming.
Ten minutes later, the principle came to the podium and spoke into the microphone, "Welcome, everybody, to the North Welontin High School Talent Show! I will be your host tonight!"
And then the talent began.
First up was a singer. She was pretty good as she sang "My Heart will go on."
Second was a baton twirler. Everyone c.racked up when she dropped the baton a few times.
Third was a group of very talened dancers, three boys and two g.irls. This talent was Skye's favorite so far.
Then fourth came a boy. Another boy was setting up one huge box in the center of the stage.
They were handsome magicians.
The first boy said into the microphone, "Now, I need four volunteers for this act!"
All hands went up except for Skye, Ithiela, Wendy, and Sarah. They conversed with each other, wondering if they should volunteer, too, because there were four of them.
"You four g.irls, up front."
The four friends stared up at him. They hadn't volunteered.
They stood up, anyways, and walked up the stairs to the stage.
"Now, I want you four lovely ladies to step into this box."
The g.irls stared at the large audience. Wendy had a little stage fright.
Her other friends pushed her along, and eventually, they all went into the box together.
"Now," came the cute boy's voice. "I will dress them up!"
The audience broke out in confused laughter.
"He's going to dress us up?" Skye whispered to her friends in the close space.
They shrugged in response.
Then they waited. And waited. But nothing seemed to happened.
Minutes passed, and they were getting too tired standing in the box.
"Did I mention that I'm claustrophobic, too?" Wendy said weakly. "I have to get out of here!"
Skye sighed. "Wendy, calm down. We'll get out soon."
"No . . . can't . . . breath . . ."
"Wendy!" all the g.irls cried. "Don't pass out!"
But Wendy pushed open the door.
Only to find that they were no longer in the school's auditorium.
"Uh, guys . . ." she began. "Where are we?"
Skye, Ithiela, and Sarah came out. They stared at the wide open plain filled with flowers. Behind them was a friendly forest.
"Okay," Skye said, hesitating. "Maybe that guy has some real magick, or maybe this is just part of the act."
They continued to gaze at the beautiful nature around them when a voice called out.
"Hey, you four!"
The g.irls turned at the same time to the forest.
The two boys who had been setting up the boxes were now standing before the tall forest. They were grinning.
"Welcome to Passia!" they exclaimed.
