It's been a little while but no one has really urged me to continue so it's lucky I'm even doing this now.

At the end of that first day at Oliver's house, I refreshed my memory on my appearance when I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror before climbing in the shower.  The rat's nest that was my dark brown hair overwhelmed my small frame.  Just the sight of my messy hair made me cringe and i hopped in the shower with hopes of washing my embarrassment due to appearance away.

After my shower, I approached the mirror again and wasn't as frightened by the girl I saw looking back at me.  This time, without the distraction of unruly hair, I noticed my eyes were a sparkling crystal-blue eyes.  The rest of my face was okay, nothing too exceptional and my ears looked a little large for my head, but in my opinion, my eyes more than made up for it.  Sometime when I was gawking at my reflection, I must have done something because my hair, which was just sopping wet, was suddenly dry.  The straightness of my hair caught me a little off-guard, but after running my fingers through it, I decided I liked it enough.

The next few days passed without incident.  Most of my time was spent watching Oliver practice for his Quidditch tryouts which were quickly approaching.  When we sat at supper Thursday night,  I could sense his nervousness.  Of course anyone could tell something was on his mind because he just picked at his food which even after only a few days, I could tell was not like him at all.  However, his mother assured me that he always had trouble feeding himself when a match or tryout was near.

When I awoke the next morning, I was discouraged to find that Oliver had already left for tryouts, and I didn't even have the chance to wish him goodluck.  I did say something to him in passing before bed, but I would have liked to have had the opportunity to wish him well more sincerely.  All morning, all I could think about was his tryout.

During lunch, he popped in to the dining room.  Ignoring our questions, Oliver went to take a shower, leaving his mother and I exactly where we were.

"I can't read minds and I was never all that good at Divination," Mrs. Wood started, "but I'm thinking it didn't go too well."

I just gave her a glum look and finished my lunch.  When I heard the water shut off upstairs, I got up from the book on magical plants that I was reading in the family room and made my way for the stairs.  However, I hadn't even mounted the first stair when I heard his door slam.  Instinct told me that I should go back to my book, but something drove me up the stairs to his door.

Too scared to simply barge in, I knocked on the door and called his name softly.  When I got no response, I said his name again a little louder.

"Not now, Holly. I'm not in the mood."

"Oliver, are you alright?"

"I'm fine. Just...go away."

Perhaps it would have been better if I had just trusted my instincts.
