Brendon wouldn't say anything besides "Just wait" the whole ride to Ryan's house. Which, I guess, isn't that long, but it seemed longer because I had no idea what was going on with this boy I called my "brother." Okay, so maybe that was a little harsh, but still.
Finally we got to Ryan's house. It was only about 5 minutes, but seemed like an eternity. We got out of the car and let ourselves into the house. No need to knock because he was such a good friend of mine and Brendon's.
When we got downstairs to the living room there were 4 guys standing around. The one I didn't know had his back facing me. The other guys saw me and ran up to hug me.
I was giggling like crazy while I said my hellos to all the boys. Ryan held on to me a little longer than normal until Brendon pulled us apart. "Dude, Ryan. You can't touch my sister like that!"
Ryan just shrugged and winked at me. This caused me to laugh more and almost forget about the stranger now standing amidst our group.
Key word: Almost.
When he cleared his throat I turned to look stare at the most beautiful man I've ever seen. His eyes were a deep brown and his hair was dark also, but with red at the front in his bangs. My eyes traveled down to his perfect lips and even further down to...
"Oh yeah!" "Kyla, meet Pete Wentz. Pete, my sister, Kyla Urie."
This was THE Pete Wentz? Now that I think about it, I should have recognized him, but he looked so different in person...he looked even better.
"Brendon," Pete began, "No offense or anything, but your sister -"
"We don't look a thing alike." Brendon finished for him, but I could tell Pete had more to say.
"Well, that too, but what I was going to say is..." Pete paused briefly to look into my eyes. "She's beautiful." He smiled with those oh so perfect lips and those oh so perfectly white and straight teeth.
My cheeks automatically turned a shade of bright red, I'm sure of it.
"Umm, thanks...?" I barely squeaked out. Someone please pinch me. Please don't let this be a dream. Pete Wentz of FALL OUT BOY just called me beautiful.
Pete just winked at me.
Okay, Kyla. Snap out of it! He's just an arrogant musician who thinks he owns the world...and apparently all the women in it.
But he's soooo pretttyyyyyy.
What?
Yeah, what? since when do I refer to guys as 'soooo pretttyyyyyy?' What has gotten into me? I need to get out of this trance right now.
"Well," I decided to change the current topic, "What's going on? What's the big news?"
All the boys turned to look at Pete.
Ryan spoke up. "Everybody's here now, man. You can spill."
Wow. Nobody except Pete Wentz knew whatever everyone else wanted to know. That's quite a bit of power.
Pete grinned my way before speaking to everyone. "I've some good news guys. Your cd is just about done. Only a couple minor finishing touches. But, that's not all.I talked to some people and..." he paused for dramatic effect. "...you're coming on tour with us starting next month and then we're going to have a huge cd release party in New York following up the tour."
All 5 of them began to cheer, while hugging and high-five-ing each other. Brendon came over to me, picking me up and spinning me around. After he set me down I began to hug him fiercely. "I am SO proud of you, Bren. Congratulations." I said with a huge smile on my face.
After releasing Brendon from my death grip, I saw Pete looking at me. Once we made eye contact he grinned at me. I just rolled my eyes and went to use the bathroom.
Once I came out, all the boys were huddled up in the opposite corner of the room. When I cleared my throat they all turned around and smiled at me.
"What's going on guys?"
"Nothing," Spencer remarked, suspiciously.
"Bren," I groaned, "You KNOW how I hate surprises."
"Kyla," countered Brendon, "you haven't found an internship yet anywhere, have you?"
"No...why?"
He shrugged nonchalantly. "Because. I know how you want to get into the music business and all. And I just happen to know this band that's going on tour soon and might need someone to come with them. You might know them. I think they're called....Panic! at the....something."
"Bren?" I took a step forward towards my brother. "Are you serious?"
"Of course I'm serious, Ky."
I looked around at Ryan, Spencer, Brent, and Pete. They all were giving me the same look.
"Ahhhhh!" I screamed and ran to hug Brendon and the other guys. When I got to Pete, I forgot who it was I was hugging because I was so ecstatic in that moment. Suddenly I released Pete and stared at my shoes until, thankfully, Brent broke the silence.
"So I'm guess you're in then?"
"Of course I'm in!" I yelled happily.

We stood around Ryan's house for a long time, chatting about everything to do with the upcoming tour. All of us kept asking Pete questions about what it would be like, how long it would be, what kinds of things to bring, and other miscilaneous subjects.
While everyone was still happily chatting I announced that I was going to step outside to call my friend, Nichole, from college. We had lived together and she was from Seattle. I had asked her to keep her eyes open for internship possibilities for me.
I stepped outside and sat down on the sidewalk. It was perfect weather tonight. Just warm enough to sit outside without a jacket, but not anywhere near hot. The sun was about to set. I could see it reach the distant horizon.
"Hello?"
"Hey Nichole!"
"Hey Kyla! How was your trip back home?"
"Uneventful. Yours?"
"Same here. Not even a hottie for me to chat it up with."
"Aww, sad day. Anyways I won't need an internship in Seattle anymore...well, at least for the summer."
"Did you end up finding one in Vegas?"
"Nope." I was beaming, even though she couldn't tell. "You remember my brother's band I told you about and how they just got signed?"
"Yeah. Panic at the Disco...right?"
"Yup! Well, they're going on tour in a month and asked me to come with them!!"
"Oh my gosh! Seriously?? That's so exciting! Did you just find out today, then?"
"Yeah. Guess who I got to meet today." I said half excited, half sarcastic.
"Who?" I could tell Nichole was completely going to freak out when I told her.
"Two words: Pete. Wentz."
"Dang, girl! Your summer is already better than mine and it's only been one day! Pete Wentz...he is just so...cute!"
"Umm...first of all, more like GORGEOUS! Second of all...he's completely conceited. He told me I was beautiful in front of everyone, including my brother, then just kept smiling and winking at me. Ugh."
"Kyla. This is Pete-freaking-Wentz we're talking about. And you're not going to make a move??"
"Yes I know that it's Pete Wentz, but you know how I hate guys that think they can get any girl they want with just a flash of a smile. Even though it is a perfect smile..." I trailed off.
"Whatever, Kyla, but I know you too well. You're going to cave soon. But I need to go. We're going to have a family dinner tonight."
"Alright. Talk to ya later, darlin!"
"Bye, Ky. Oh, and be sure to let me know how good of a kisser he is." She said while laughing.
"Yeah yeah...sure. Bye."
I hung up the phone and sighed, leaning back to lay on the concrete sidewalk.
The sky was beginning to darken and the moon was moving up into the sky. I just stared up into space thinking about how nothing can be a coincidence. If you think about it, the universe is so huge and we are such a tiny part of it. Why then would I have just met Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III and I'll also be spending the summer with him? Is there a chance that maybe it just didn't happen by chance? Maybe it's fate...
I was so deep in my thoughts that I didn't notice the other body lay down next to me until he spoke.
"What?" I asked him, caught offguard.
"What are you doing out here?"
Pete.
"Thinking."
"Thinking about...?" Man, he was being pushy. Okay, I was being a little too harsh again. Maybe I should settle down a bit.
"About stuff." I sort of shrugged, but that's hard to do when you're laying down on a concrete sidewalk.
"Alright." His voice showed me that he wanted me to open up to him. Maybe I could do that. "What kind of stuff?"
I sighed before actually telling him what was on my mind. "Just look up at the sky. It's magical, isn't it? There's so much space out there and here we are. Just two people next to each other, looking up at the same sky. But I'm just some sister of an aspiring rockstar and you're an actual rockstar. Basically my mind is going through the ultimate battle between chance and fate."
"And who's winning?" He asked it so breathy almost like he were out of words.
"Fate." I said simply, but fearing his reaction.
I turned my head to the right to see his eyes staring straight back at mine.
A huge grin appeared on his face. Oh great. Here we go again. I rolled my eyes and looked back up at the stars, which we just starting to appear in the sky.
He would be so much more appealing if only he would lose that 'I'm too cool for school' attitude.

REST IN RESULTS!

Pete's POV
Sometimes I have a big mouth and I just need to learn how to shut it more often. I don't regret telling Brendon that his sister is gorgeous, because it's the truth. It's hard to believe that she's got 4 years on him. Her eyes and her smile seemed so young and playful. I couldn't help but grin stupidly whenever my eyes connected with hers.
She never seemed to like that. I'm not so sure why. I've always been told that I have a good smile. It's usually what gets the girls to fall for me. I'm not trying to inflate my ego too much, but I'm not going to try to be too modest and think I'm some homely thing.
I just couldn't figure her out. When I saw her lying outside I couldn't help but go and lay down next to her. I tried small talk, but I knew I had to be careful because this girl was definitely different from the others I've been around. Finally it seemed like she was starting to open up to me.
I mentally smacked myself when I let myself move into that stupid, goofy smile of mine. I could tell she didn't approve because I saw her roll her eyes. I figured that I'd keep quiet for the rest of the time we spent out there.
This girl was going to be a challenge.
