"Are you drinking tonight?" Courtney asked as the two headed towards the party.
New Found Glory was doing an acoustic set tonight.
Hunter was excited.
New Found Glory was one of her favorite bands.
"Nah," Hunter shrugged, pulling her purple and black striped hoodie closer to her body.
It had gotten cool that evening.
"I'm shocked," Courtney laughed. "You've turned into quite the lush."
"Shut up, asshole," Hunter giggled.
It was true.
Hunter drank more than she ever did in the past week.
It was a way to pass time.
It wasn't very healthy.
But Hunter really didn't care.
"What's going on with you and Tom?" Hunter asked, as the two approached the party.
"What are you talking about?" Courtney began to blush.
"What am I talking about?" Hunter chuckled. "I don't know. The way you look at each other. The way you two flirt. Should I go on?"
"No," Courtney said quickly. "We're friends. That's all."
"Friends," Hunter nodded. "Don't you just love that word?"
Courtney shoved her hands into her pockets, "Yeah. I love it."
The party was, well, a party.
Alcohol.
Music.
Dancing.
Drugs? Maybe. Probably.
There were tables and tables packed full of beer, wine, hard liquor, mixers...
Any form of alcohol you could think of, they had it.
"You sure you aren't drinking?" Courtney asked, picking up a can of Sprite.
Courtney didn't drink.
She didn't want to end up like her brother.
"Positive," Hunter smiled, grabbing a can of Peach Citrus Fresca. "I actually want to remember tonight tomorrow."
"What do you want to remember?" Courtney smiled. "Hooking up with someone? So, I can win that little bet?"
"I haven't slept with anyone yet," Hunter smiled. "I'm not as easy as you people seem to believe."
"Who said you were easy?"
"Fagface."
"Alex?"
"Mhm."
"Looks like he gave up on you fast," Courtney grunted, looking straight ahead.
Hunter followed her gaze, and saw Alex and a blond talking.
He was smiling.
She was giggling.
Hunter was jealous?
She couldn't be.
She hated Alex...
She didn't know Alex.
"I need a drink."
Alex watched as Courtney and Hunter walked up to the party.
They were deep in conversation, and didn't notice Alex's staring.
He liked Hunter.
He liked the fact that she hated him.
He liked the chase.
But, he knew he had to do something to keep things exciting.
He knew just the thing.
"Carly," He called to his old friend.
He met her last September when All Time Low toured with Amber Pacific. She was their merch girl.
"Hey, Alex," She smiled, sipping her Absolute and Diet Cherry Coke.
"Do you want to do me the biggest favor ever?"
"The last time I did you a favor I ended up half naked in a forest in Vermont."
"I promise there will be no shedding of clothes," He smirked. "Unless, you know, you want to."
"Yeah, you know I can't wait to get into the sack with you," Carly rolled her eyes.
"I'm Alex," He grinned. "Everyone wants to get into bed with me."
"I don't," Carly said, taking another sip of her drink.
"Whatever," Alex started. "You just have to seem like you want to sleep with me."
"Excuse me?" Carly hissed.
"Carly, please?"
"Who are you trying to make jealous?"
"Hunter DiGiovanni."
"God, Alex," Carly hissed. "This is going to come back and bite you in the ass."
"Yeah, yeah," Alex shrugged. "Just act like you're into me."
"Fine," Carly hissed. "Oh gosh, Alex, you are too funny."
Alex narrowed his eyes.
Carly winked, "Have you been working out?"
Alex shook his head.
This really was going to bite him in the ass.
Hunter stumbled over her feet, and landed on the cement.
It took her a few minutes to register what happened, but when she figured it out she let out a drunken giggle.
She peeled herself off of the ground, and began to take staggering steps toward the table filled with alcohol.
Absolute and Cranberry juice; her weapon of choice.
She drank one.
Then two.
Then three.
She was gone.
She had never got this trashed before.
Her vision was blurry.
She had the hiccups.
She found herself stumbling into someone's arms.
"Bryannnnn," She slurred.
"Jesus, Hunter, how much did you drink?" Bryan asked, holding the petite brunette up.
"Enough for me not to care who I sleep with tonight," She smiled. "And you are the lucky winner."
"Hunter, we aren't sleeping together," Bryan laughed, taking a sip of his beer. "I'll never be drunk enough to sleep with my best friends little sister."
"Well, you're no fun."
Bryan smiled, "We should get you to bed."
"Why?" Hunter hiccupped. "So, I can fall asleep, and then you can have your way with me?"
"Exactly," Bryan agreed with her. He knew she wouldn't shut up if he didn't.
"I'm so smart," Hunter giggled.
The two began to walk away, but what they didn't know was that Alex was burning holes into the back of Bryan's head.
Jealous hearts will leave us all in ruins
