[Still Divya's POV]
It had been five years since Kat walked over to say hi to me.
We've been best friends ever since.
We were always with each other.
Except if we were sick.
Or if one of us went with our family on vacation.
Our moms didn't really like each other too much though.
My mom is kinda mean to Kat's mom.
I like her mom better than mine.
But our mom's aren't important to this story right now.
In a few weeks I would be starting fifth grade.
I was kinda pissed because Kat was starting middle school this year.
At least when she was still in elementary school, I'd see her in the halls.
Now she's gunna be in an entirely different school.
And that just sucks butt.
But enough about school.
Kat's on her way over.
We're gunna go over to the park.
Yes. We still go to the park.
We're just that awesome.
"DIVYA!!!!!!!!!!" I heard as I was trying to find my other blasted shoe. "GET YOUR SKINNY BUTT DOWN HERE SO WE CAN GO TO THE PARK!"
God that girl is loud.
She's lucky my mom isn't home.
"I'LL BE DOWN IN A MINUTE! DON'T GET YOUR PANTIES IN A BUNCH!" I screamed back at her.
HA! I found my other chuck. [Ya know? Chuck Taylors.]
I walked downstairs and as soon as I did, I was tackled to the ground by Kat.
"Dude. Seriously. What was that for?!"
"Because you told me to not get my panties in a bunch and becacuse I just felt like it. Deal."
"You are so mean to me sometimes."
"But you still love me!"
"Yeah yeah yeah."
But seriously. I do love her.
She's my best friend.
She's always there for me if I need someone.
Like Darin used to be.
"So are we gunna go or what?" Kat asked snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Yeah. Let's go."

"Kat. I'm scared."
"Of what?"
"This next school year. You'll be at a different school and I pretty much hate everyone that's in my grade. I mean, sure, there are a few girls that I get along with like Shibby and Haley, but they aren't my best friends."
"Aww. It'll be okay. Yeah, we'll be in different schools, but we'll still see each other every day. I promise."
Didn't your mother ever tell you "Don't make promises you can't keep"?
Kat and I didn't see each other every day.
In fact, we hardly ever saw each other.
She was always "too busy" or "had too much homework."
Cue eyeroll now.
She always had something better to do than hang out with me.
I know I'm sounding like a little emo bitch right now, but dude.
She's my best friend and she broke a promise to me.
Middle school + raging hormones = Kat never being there.
Whatever.
If she wants to be like that, I can be like that too.
I guess there's a plus side to Kat never being around.....
I got to know Shibs and Hales better.
They're pretty amazing chicas.
But they're nothing like Kat was.
I should have known that this would happen though.
I mean, Darin started liking girls then.
At least, that's what he told me.
He had a girlfriend when he died.
Izzy.
I wonder how she's doing....
Oh who am I kidding?
She won't remember me.
And I have no way of getting in touch with her.
And I should probably stop thinking about random things and finish this stupid science homework.
But I don't get it.
Maybe daddy can help me.
"Hey daddy," I started, walking into his study, "Could you help me with this science homework. I don't get it." I asked him, screwing up my face to show how confused I was.
"Sure baby girl. Come here."

Over the next couple of weeks, Shibby, Haley and I would get together at one of our houses and hang out for a little bit.
It was Friday night, and we were all gunna hang out at Shibby's house, possibly spend the night if our parents let us.
"Shibby. Do you think our parents will let us spend the night?" Haley asked with hopeful eyes.
"Well, my mom said it was okay. We just need the okay from your mom and Divya's parents."
Just then, the phone in Shibby's kitchen rang.
We heard her mom talking to someone, then walking up the stairs to Shibby's room.
"Divya. That was your mother. She said that you are allowed to spend the night, but she will be here tomorrow morning at 10 am to pick you up."
"YAY!!!! Thank you mom! ....Wait. She can't hear me..."
Shibby and Haley bust out laughing at that one.
"Oh hush you two. It's not like that's never happened to you before."
"Oh come on Div. You know it's funny," said Haley.
"....Fine. It was funny. Now stop laughing. I think Shibby's mom is walking upstairs again."
And she was.
Haley's mom said she could stay too.
We had a blast that night.
We talked about what middle school would be like, since we were almost 3/4 done with this year.
We talked about what we would do if we didn't have any classes together.
We talked about a bunch.
And we had a blast.
But it was no where near as much fun as me and Kat had.
And I feel really bad comparing Shibby and Haley to Kat.
But I can't seem to stop.
